We stayed in Hotel Mums Home on a few occasions during our 3 months in Nepal. Every time we were welcomed by the friendliest staff who made us feel right at home. Although close enough to the hustle and bustle of Thamel - it is in a quiet location on a no through street. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and shower has good pressure and hot water. What sets this place above the rest are the incredibly helpful and welcoming staff.

We were the only guests for much of our longer-than-expected stay, due to covid. The staff were always helpful and pleasant and made our stay enjoyable. The location is convenient and quiet in Thamel - within walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops. On sunny days it was great to enjoy the rooftop. Breakfast was delicious. The room was sunny and the heat and hot water worked well and were welcome.

A decent hotel in a back alley. Don't expect views but the place was clean and the room large. Wifi was excellent, bathroom was fine. I was on the 4th floor. It rained one night and water came cascading down the stairwell. I called and woke someone up at 2:30 AM. It got fixed fast by morning all the water damage had been swept up. The owner seems a decent guy. I didn't have breakfast there so can't comment on that. 4 stars because despite 2 emails, no one showed up at the airport to pick me up. I'll stay there again when I am in KTM.

I've stayed at Mums home several times, most recently when I was stranded in Nepal during the covid-19 pandemic. As usual, the staff are fantastic. Always take great care of me and make my stay as easy as possible. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and good value for the money. Thank you once again for another great experience! When our family visited to Kathmandu in Jan 2020, we stayed at Mum’s home. It is very convenient spots and every thing is walking distance. Staff made all the arrangements for our need including food, taxi, money exchange etc. It was very clean, warm and good room services. We left our belongings with them safely, when we went on trekking. I 100% recommend them for your next stay.

I have stayed at many hotels in Thamel, while visiting Nepal. But always there was something what I disliked. Finally I have found this hidden gem. Mums Home has best value for money. Super clean rooms are bigger than usual in Thamel. Breakfast is delicious with perfect coffee from the machine. The best is location because hotel is in the side street it means there is absolutely no traffic and you can relax 24/7. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Wifi works perfectly. Next time I will definitely stay here.

I spent 3 days in this hotel. All staffs are very friendly and helpful. The foods were great. And they offered some local tours were very great. We enjoyed the time here very much and will definitely come back again.highly recommended!!

Nice location since its located in thamel and next to a main road. Its easy for you to go ti banks, restaurants, souvenir shops etc. The staff is helpful by arranging room upgrade as well as airport transfer. If you are looking for value for money option in kathmandu i think its a good option.
