Try their newly renovated bistro with lots delicious non-greasy healthy food unlike other chinese greasy food in Thamel. Chef made with perfection and also great selection of deserts from their bakery. We tried Shabaleb, Tingmo, momo, thukpa, and little spicy food chili chicken, chili buff. Yum yum!!

As other reviewers have said, Potala Guest House is right in the centre of Thamel but it manages to be an oasis from the street noise and even the polluted air pervading Thamel because the rooms are set far from the streets and around a small garden. The staff were very helpful and showed me their rooms (standard and deluxe)....

My family and I stayed there for 5 nights total (2 nights before EBC trekking and 3 nights after). We had a very nice and comfortable stay. Hotel has recently been renovated and now has a restaurant on the first floor, serving full breakfast (among other things). The staff was very nice, helpful, and accommodating with anything we needed. The...

A very nice budget hotel situated in the most happening place of Kathmandu (Thamel). Nice cozy rooms. Not great outside view as such but the location of the hotel considering the locality and the price is amazing. Thamel main market is 2 min walk. You find a lot of trekking equipment shops. All restaurants and pubs are within walkable distance....

This hotel was rather large and the rooms pretty modern. There was a problem with my booking but it was corrected satisfactorily. The rooms are clean and comfortable and large. There is a garden area to relax and away from the street so that the noise in Thamel is softened. There is an adjoining restaurant and bar that was great...

Stopped here for a couple of nights. We know the place from previous visit, now it was disappointing: grey towels, stained linens, leaks in bathroom etc. For 25$ a night you can get better stay in Kathmandu. On the positive side - the staff is always there to help when possible.

This hotel is being updated and I got one of the very lovely new rooms. Very tasteful :) Hotel is in the middle of Thamel but very quiet. Staff is great. They could definitely charge more for these rooms. The picture above is of the old rooms. The website shows the new rooms. Restaurant does great momos.

Stayed here for one night on my way back from Pokhara. Located conveniently in Thamel, this place is good option for budget stay. Nice clean hotel with comfortable bed, hot water and free wifi is also available. Staff were super helpful. When I visited in December, the place looked a bit shabby though, due to ongoing renovation and most probably...

In November, 2014, and November, 2015, I have stayed at the Potala with a trekking group. The staff is helpful. Compared to most budget hotels in Nepal, the rooms are comfortable, clean with their own bathrooms. Be sure to stay, if possible, in room in the back. Front rooms are exposed to street noise and dust. One word of caution:...
