We stayed in so Many hotels in my life in short I can say whatever I got decent hospitality and behavior in this hotel specially front desk which is remarkable. Chandrika and Sanuk dipa and service staff Sharmila are decent and welcoming Wants to visit again
This is a convenient location as family live close by. Hotel is beautiful but rooms are showing a bit of age, as is the elevator but is fine. It is a COVID year so they r still alive so that says something. (Spa and pool etc closed) Had requested smoke free room but first room was definitely smoke smelling, easily changed and fine. No issues really as price was great w breakfast included. Did find bathroom showing signs of wear but hot shower was great. Our bathroom seemed to have a family of small cockroaches which appeared in the evening...seems were spray resistant. lol. Wife said she was "comfortable" in this hotel so I must say that's all that matters to me. So yes I recommend to you this place.
The worst experience ever. The ridiculous policy of charging linen and towels amount cause it was heavily soiled. My partner had heavy bleeding due to some medical problems which was unknown till then. I checked in at around midnight due to my flight arrival. I needed to stay there for that night only. Within an hour of stay my partner started felling unwell and her bleeding began heavy. She had to lie down so sat on her bed. Bed got soiled. I was panicking, she insisted on having shower to calm her down but it never stopped. I used the towel to dry her and dress her for hospital. I even rang the room service multiple times to give me hand. They were late. I had to book a cab and take her hospital at midnight. I came to checkout at morning at around 08:00 after she was settle a bit. I went and checkout without any problem. Staff sympathise on incident and asked if she was well which was warm and supporting. However, my partner had missed some jewelry so I rang back to collect it after two hours. Till then it was fine. Just after that call within an hour I received the call asking for housekeeping compensation as I did damage and it was unrecoverable. My partner who works at Accor group and is in hospitality for 5 years was shook. She started stressing about what kind of compensation. Towels are complementary linen services are included then what was the damage they started talking about mattress and duva damage. I hung up the call as I had to attend my partners doctor visit. My partner insisted for discharge as we had flight this evening. Despite Doctor's advice to be un surveillance for 24 hour to track her status. She stated she was well and if anything goes wrong she will definitely be back at hospital. I asked her to stay at other hotel which I booked near hospital. But, she rushed to hotel despite her ill health to understand the problem. She was so unbothered the way they explain their compensation. She was tired and restless so she handed them 4200npr!! as this money would take her stress away. She was shook with the hospitality policy where there was no exact book or files stating this was damage to be covered by guest. This is how they treat the Nepalese couple. I dont know what they were thinking. My partner even stated maybe they think us Nepalese are straight enough to pay the charges so they makeup their own policy to charge extra . Money never mattered and it didnt this time too and that amount is nothing to stress about. But it is the way they perform hospitality. They had chance to explain such loss during that many call, during checkout but it was never mentioned. i understand housekeeping won't know the room status until checkout but there is something called communication when it comes to such incident so they are notified in advance for. Wouldnot recommend even to the ladies on her mensural cycle to be there and a big no for pregnant ladies. I feel ridiculous even when i am typing this about the hospitality industry.…
Since our Air India flight got cancelled, the airline hosted us in this hotel for a day. The hotel is located in the western end of the city so it is quite far from the city centre and very far from the airport (located @ easter end). It may have been great in the past, however, I feel the hotel is in dire need of modernisation and renovation (the wi-fi in my room was not working and couldn't be repaired, they gave me a password to the adjacent room's wi-fi). You can go for it if you are looking for nostalgia or old-world charm. We had our meals in the Indian restaurant on the top floor. The food was basic at best. Lack any variety. Having said the above, the hotel staff is friendly and cooperative.
We enjoyed our team and staff was great , we like the service and food at Thamel kitchen restaurant every thing is very beautiful specially our waitress Laxmi she was great and give us a very good experience, Room was excellent and clean, I will come back soon and recommend this hotel !
My husband and I have made over 30 trips to Nepal and usually stayed at another hotel which recently switched ownership. We decided to try a new hotel and came across the reviews for Grand Hotel Kathmandu. We are so glad we did! Our stay was wonderful. Every member of the staff was helpful and friendly. They spoke perfect English too! We loved the breakfast buffet where we could choose from personal omelets or the wonderful Indian cuisine. We also ate dinner at both the downstairs restaurant and the upstairs Indian restaurant with live entertainment. We tried everything from BLT clubs to local dahl batt. Everything was delicious. We also enjoyed having a small minimart store and gift shop within 25 feet of the hotel's front door. We look forward to returning in April!
Staffs are kind and helpful. Room was quite decent. There were no slippers in the restroom the shower was quite old and it splashed water everywhere. You cant go in the toilet without slippers once you ise the shower head. I asked for a pair of slippers, they asked money for it. It was my first ever experience. You need a car to Go anywhere because the road beside the hotel is quite dusty and i suggest not to venture walking.
We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. Food, room service and hospitality moreover were excellent. They have their own money exchange which makes it easy for us to convert money on need basis. I would give this place a rating of 5 on a scale of 5.
Stayed in this hotel for 3 days on a family trip and it was a bad experience overall. When we checked in, we found that electrical wires were loose and also the extra bed fell down when my son sat on the bed. We have to call the house keeping to rectify these issues. Lift in the hotel is very old and needs replacement. On the last day, we were stuck inside the lift. We were banging the lift and have to call the hotel reception to inform that we were stuck inside the lift. There is no emergency switch or telephone available inside the lift. This is totally unacceptable for a 4 star category hotel. Breakfast is better but needs improvement. Overall it was a bad experience and hope hotel management will take necessary steps to rectify these issues.
Best place to be in kathmandu.food is excellent spread of buffet is good decent stafff and very helpful in everything.breakfast is good and tasty .room is spacious and we'll maintained.like to be there in future
