I stayed here for just one night as I was transitioning from one accommodation to the other. My two sisters stayed in a private room and I stayed in the six bed female dorm. This hostel had a really awesome vibe and was busy even though we visited in the off season. Has its own travel place at the hotel...

I stayed very shortly but I could see there was a good vibe in the hostel. Smiling helpful receptionists, somewhat working wifi, quiet area of Thamel, fairly near to the bus stop. The reason for going lower on the ratings is the fact, that the rooms are not 'sealed' and mice get in through a hole under a door, running...

Love this hostel and will definitely be back!! It's a great place to meet fellow travellers, whom you will probably meet again on your travels (they have a relationship with Kiwi Hostel in Pokhara, another fun hostel). I met the same backpackers 3 times on my travels which was awesome. They create a 'community' for you. Their rooftop bar with...

This hostel has several pretty rooftop patios, a giant indoor windowed room for 'chillaxin', and is clean with great service. So far I haven't had a hot shower, but no big deal to me. I have my own room, which is great. So close to Thamel! I feel comfortable, as a woman, walking out the main road and heading to...

This hostel is definitely the place to stay if you are looking to meet other backpackers in Kathmandu. I stayed a few other hostels prior to Alobar and was having a hard time meeting other travelers but once I went to Alobar I instantly met loads of travelers. The upstairs lounge is very relaxed and you may find yourself spending...

I have such mixed feelings about this place. I arrived early in the morning after a night bus from Lumbini, absolutely dying to get into a proper bed. I had found in previous hostels that not booking for the night before you arrive if you are arriving in early hours, you often do not get a bed straight away as...

Located in the colorful and trendy Thamel district, Alobar 1000 is a great hangout for young backpackers. The rooftop bar, restaurant and lounge are excellent places to meet other travelers, and learn of where to go and what to see. The hotel staff, like most other locals, are super friendly and helpful. However, if you are a bit older and...

If you are looking for a social hostel, well this one is the right one! It's a great place to meet cool people and chill out at the rooftop. The hostel is ok, but not hot water and wifi is not the best, but anyway the vibe here is just amazing and you won't regret it!

Comfortable place as a backpacker, good socializing hub and great to find trekking partners. Love the ambiance! Cost of accommodation is not much. The bathrooms can be better but can't expect everything by paying $5!
