This has been the classic place to stay in Thamel for decades. I returned after 25 years and could not have been more pleased. The KGH is an oasis in the middle of Thamel. The location is perfectly situated near everything, and the large grounds provide such a welcome relief from all the craziness of Thamel. We stayed in the...

My friend and I decided to walk-in to get a room for our last night in Kathmandu. This place was an oasis in the dusty city. We needed a room with clean water for our night stay and with a budget. The manager Nabin saw us at the counter while we were checking-in and suggested one of their best room...

Like the subject says its a real tricky one. First of all, the fact that people call it an oasis inside Thamel is absolutely true. The place itself is amazing, the garden is very well maintained and provides freshness to your eyes and mind instantly. I had booked a family room at a special price for four people (three adults...

Its important to set expectations realistically when visiting Nepal. Especially as a westerner. The KGH will then exceed your expectations. Clean and modern western washrooms with full showers, A/C, great views from balconies of lovely inner courtyard. Elevator to floors, inexpensive laundry service, wifi everywhere, an on site barber who is very tallented and will massage you as well, free...

Our stay at KGH before and after our ten day trek to the Annapurna Base Camp was perfect. In the center of Themal, KGH is a pleasant, quite and secure oasis from the bustle of the busy neighborhood. The rooms were clean and spacious, the breakfast was plentiful and the garden setting a delight. The hotel's manager Nabine was very...

37 years ago we visited Nepal the first time and the Kathmandu guest house was about the only hotel in Kathmandu at this time. Since then we visited Nepal 5 times; always stayed in Kathmandu guest house; this real great place in the middle of the old and very busy part of Kathmandu (Thamel). We would like to thank the...

Stayed her for a number of days recuperating after my Everest Base Camp trek. Now, the grounds and look of the guesthouse is quite pleasing on the eye and an oasis from the madness just outside the main gates. However, it's not without its flaws. The rooms are of average size, en-suite facilities a bit hit and miss, toilet liable...

First the disclosure- I think we had one of the best rooms at 842 but we stayed a week and had a great time - we used the coffee shop, hair place and the laundry- all were great. The staff are delightful. Upgrade your room if you can - we were building a school and w needed this oasis! The...

Hi, WiFi has always been a problem in Nepal until we get a professional company, hopefully soon. The lock system, contemplating whether to keep the old or change into card system. Thanks for your nice comments, and hopefully see you back soon. Regards Rajan CEO KGH

Rooms are basic but quite adequate. Very nice grounds. Close to all facilities including restaurants. Bars, supermarket. Office staff were very helpful. You can store your bags here. Inside gated area manned by guards very safe.

In the busy and somawhat polluted tourist quarter of Thamel, KGH is a good hotel with a beautiful garden and restaurant. KGH is based on a long history of guest house drawing back to the opening of Nepal. The hotel is very large and busy. Comfortable rooms, well above the average quality of Thamel, with modern equipment and nice design....
