The Hyatt Regency Kathmandu was booked as the end of our tour with ECO Holidays Tour. It is an impressive, luxurious hotel complex with an impressive, temple-like Newari-style entrance area. The lobby, where religious rituals are sometimes practiced, is extremely attractively designed. There is also a small museum on site that invites you to explore. Despite these notable features, we unfortunately have to mention some minor flaws in the service. Five stars means perfection, and although the hotel offers a good standard of luxury overall, this perfection was only achieved to a limited extent here. As you can see from my many reviews, I visit a wide range of hotels and a five star hotel must be able to live up to this standard.

Location and surroundings:
The location of the hotel near the Boudhanath Stupa in an extensive garden area is particularly attractive. The proximity to the airport is also convenient, which also explains why various airline crews like to stay here.

Room:
The rooms are spacious and our room had a bathtub.
Unfortunately, I discovered a duvet with stains in this five-star hotel of all places. The staff only applied a thin layer of varnish, but the stains (blood or juice) showed through. Something like that shouldn't happen in a five star luxury hotel. After calling reception, nothing happened at first, and it wasn't until I complained to reception that staff came to the room to re-upholster it.

Service:
The service was generally friendly, but it lacked perfection. The cleanliness of the corridors to the rooms left something to be desired (should be vacuumed more often), and the used dishes from the rooms should not be left outside the room doors for hours.

Gastronomy:
The breakfast and dinner (both buffet and à la carte) were excellent and varied. Many Indian and Nepalese dishes were offered. The lady in the Sesame restaurant, whose origins we had initially misjudged, was particularly friendly and attentive. She was actually Nepalese.

Pool:
The hotel's pool is large and very attractively designed, but unfortunately the water was very cool. It would be desirable to set up some parasols at the pool bar to provide guests with a pleasant ambience even in the blazing sun. The fitness room, on the other hand, was equipped with the most modern equipment and therefore offered a pleasant training experience.

Room

The room was spacious, clean, and wonderfully quiet. The amenities in the room were adequate, ensuring a comfortable stay. The shower offered good warm water, and the WC had proper water flow, making the bathroom experience pleasant and hygienic.

TV Channels

The only minor area for improvement was the limited selection of TV channels, but this did not significantly impact the stay.

Food

Both the breakfast and dinner buffets were decent, though it is worth noting that hot and cold drinks at dinner are chargeable.

The masala tea is a must try.

The service provided by the F&B team was exceptional. Mr. Krishna and Ms. Shraddha ensured we were well served during breakfast.

Ms. Shraddha was particularly welcoming, sharing valuable information about local shopping spots for the items we were interested in.

Mr. Krishna also suggested some interesting places to visit, adding a special touch to our holiday.

Special mention goes to Mr. Naboraj for his exceptional assistance. When we noticed a double deduction on our credit card, he promptly inquired with the Finance department and assured us we would not be double charged. He even provided his contact information for any further assistance, demonstrating outstanding customer service.

Hyatt Place in Kathmandu is a wonderful place to stay, a top choice for anyone visiting.

I am staying in room no 154 from 7th June 2024. The receptionist was very helpful to me as I am a patient of young onset Parkinson's disease, he helped me manage things well. But I have a twin baby, they refused to provide us with a king size bed and asked me to manage with a twin bed. As I check in the room I find a dead mosquito in the bath tub. Then my daughter found ice cream cone in the drawer which I needed to throw immediately and I was not able to take pictures. Behind the side lamp there was a spider web. The refrigerator was not there in the room. Service is very poor. Today in the morning breakfast, we were not provided with a low height chair as i said I was with two kids and my brother two kids. Some VIPs were provided 10-12 capacity tables with 5 occupancy and we were 4 adults and 4 kids were asked to adjust with a high chair as there was a morning rush. Terrible service and response. Also in room service, I was asked to pay the bill immediately and did refuse to add on to the final bill at checkout. In the swimming pool, I asked for help to bring a towel for my kids They reacted as if what I had asked for. Not a kids friendly hotel . Even milk for infants and kids is on a chargeable basis. The plates in which we ate and kept outside the room in the evening were not cleaned and taken away till night.

The grounds are beautiful and the hotel is spectacular. We wanted to enjoy our time there instead of going on our tour! Jhapad in dining services was particularly helpful. He always kept an eye on us, was quick to refill our coffees, clear our dirty dishes, bring us any food items we asked for (even though it was a buffet). He was eager to help and always had a smile on his face. All of the staff seemed genuinely happy we were there, making us feel welcome and, indeed, we were happy we were there!

Large 5* hotel in Newar style in the atmospheric Boudhanath, a "suburb" of Kathmandu, close to the airport, the famous Pashupathinat temple is within 20-30 minutes walking distance, the equally famous Stupa of Boudhanath is reached by a guarded gate in the garden in max. 15 minutes' walk. Hyatt is a good alternative to the hotels in the noisier and busier/younger Kathmandu-Thamel, but it also offers numerous shops, restaurants and bars around the Stupa, although they close earlier than in Thamel.
All facilities of a 5* hotel are available. Very well functioning elevators. The pool is large and good for swimming. Unfortunately, too few sunbeds and umbrellas. I was also made aware that I am not allowed to take photos with a normal camera, only with my smartphone. Funny, I asked the employee to bring in the manager, but that didn't happen. The facility is not new, but very well maintained and well frequented. Imposing entrance area and lobby in Newar style, very nice bar, the latter with m.E. a little too high prices for 0.65 beer: about 1,500 NPR (10EUR !!!), that is 70% more than in the Roadhouse Café, which also calls up high prices. And more than at the Oktoberfest in Munich.
Very good spa, prices OK. Breakfast: very first class, can compete with the best Asian 5* options, there is really a lot on offer. Service first class, Jhapa (I hope I read his name rcihtig) has served us very attentive & super professional-sympathetic. The price for breakfast is (unlike beer) very fair and reasonable.
Rooms: we had 523 (Stupa view) and 562 (garden view). Spacious to open windows just under 30 cm, very good facilities corresponding to the category, safe, fridge, bathrobes, all top clean & well maintained. Classic interior. Great, perfect bathroom.
Conclusion: we stayed 2 nights in Thamel before our sightseeing Kathmandu valley and Upper Mustang Trek, after the trek and before our flight home at the Hyatt. That was the perfect solution.
Even if a facelift would be necessary for some details, we recommend the Hyatt without restriction. Classic 5* level, great atmosphere, great pool, the fascinating stupa in close proximity & friendly staff, which is a significant feel-good factor.

The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kathmandu is beautiful, and the staff are fantastic!

Chef Padam Sitoli was one of the highlights of our stay! Traveling from the USA, my family and I were eager to sample the cuisine of Nepal, but the restaurant menu didn't feature anything local. We casually asked the hostess if the restaurant served momos, and when she checked with Chef Sitoli, he generously whipped up four plates, just for us! The momos were not only delicious but beautifully prepared with artistic pleats and an assortment of condiments. On top of that, Chef Padam Sitoli brought us a plate of his signature naan--an amazing flavor combination of garlic, sesame, and carrot, unlike anything else we tried in the US, India, or elsewhere in Nepal. This naan was the best we've ever eaten, without a doubt! Chef Padam Sitoli is incredibly talented, and my family and I will remember his kindness and phenomenal welcome to Nepal for decades to come!

Our waiter, Rabin, was another star during our stay in Kathmandu! He was attentive to our needs, friendly, and eager to share tips and information about Nepal. We were in great hands with him, and it was always wonderful to see him for dinner!

The hotel is just a short walk away from the Boudhnath Stupa, so ask at the front desk how to access it (foreigners pay 400 Nepali rupees, ~4 USD).

We were told by a conference organizer to book here for our final night in Nepal before heading to the airport. (The conference was held outside Kathmandu.)

This is a large property. We stayed on the 7th floor where there are only three rooms, one of which is an enormous suite. We weren't in the enormous suite, but our room was still really nice.

We had four large bottles of water in our room (necessary in Nepal where tap water isn't safe), robes and slippers were provided, and we were asked if we wanted the minibar stocked (but we said no.) The bathroom was amply stocked with toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, mouthwash, cotton balls and swabs. I appreciated having a kettle to make myself a cup of tea at midnight before our departure.

Our flights changed, so we had only half a day here, leaving shortly after midnight. Staff did everything they could to make us comfortable as we tried to squeeze in dinner and a long nap before such an inconvenient departure.

Very important to note the blackout drapes were sufficient to allow sleep during daylight hours.

Again, our plans were confusing, and we'd arranged transportation to the airport from the hotel (using their service) before learning our conference host already had a ride booked for us. The front desk accepted this change at the last second without any issues.

We met colleagues in the lounge off the lobby and had a nice time there. Both snacks and drinks were good, but service was a bit slow here. It looked like perhaps they were changing shifts and the waiters were engaged in a brief meeting, so this could be about timing.

We ate dinner in the restaurant downstairs, and the food was tasty with a varied menu offering many types of cuisine. Even my picky spouse who requires a bland diet for medical reasons found something he could enjoy eating.

When we left, they were constructing an enormous gingerbread house in the lobby. I wish I could have seen how that turned out. I'm guessing this is the beginning of some Christmas decorations?

The grounds appeared gorgeous from our 7th floor room, but we had too little time to explore them. Our friends told us the walk to the nearby Stupa was not too long, but slightly meandering.

The price we paid seemed very fair for a really nicely laid out, large guest room with a terrace in a city. I don't know how it compares to the rest of Kathmandu, but, as a traveler from the USA, I felt it was a great value.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights at the end of our vacation in Nepal and had a very mixed experience. We booked a Regency Suite (room 510) with the intention of taking advantage of the many benefits included as part of that booking.

First, the positive: The hotel grounds are absolutely lovely, and the room was spacious and comfortable. We appreciated complimentary water each day, and the included breakfast at Sesame was ample and delicious. We went to the complimentary happy hour in The Living Room each night and enjoyed it; staff member Samira made us feel so welcome, and she was a delight to interact with every evening.

The not-so-positive: Our suite was definitely showing some wear. What was a real problem, though, was an issue with the outlets; we were only able to use one outlet on each side of the bed because everything else in the room was a nonstandard outlet type. We couldn't even plug in the ironing board the hotel provided because it wasn't compatible with any outlet in the suite.

The frustrating: As we booked a suite, we were to have access to a complimentary shared airport shuttle during our stay. In advance of our arrival, I corresponded with the hotel by email and arranged to use the complimentary shared shuttle (1) to and from the airport for our early morning Everest Mountain Flight and (2) for our departure flight. When we arrived and I asked to confirm these arrangements, the person who checked us in seemed confused but reconfirmed verbally. The morning of our Everest flight, we went to reception, and there was no record of our complimentary shuttle reservation for that day; apparently, it had been scheduled for two days later. The person at reception said "there was a miscommunication" and did not acknowledge that there was a mistake on the part of the hotel. We panicked about missing our flight and asked them to help us; we weren't able to get a local taxi for some reason, so a hotel car was called. Imagine my surprise two days later at check out when I found out that we were charged US$28 for that hotel car transfer to the airport for our Everest flight because of the hotel's error. Most hotels would have comped that sort of expense as a courtesy because the mistake was clearly on the side of the hotel. I inquired about it as we were checking out, and the person at reception called her manager; they said that it was not complimentary. She asked if I wanted her to call back and "argue" with the manager. We did not have time to press the issue, so we paid the bill and left. At least the shuttle to the airport for our departure was complimentary as promised. While everyone we interacted with throughout the shuttle confusion was kind, the whole thing soured our experience.

Very nice reception! ❤️

We had a wonderful breakfast by the pool on a sunny morning. When the sun shines on the blue swimming pool, the sparkling water reflects the surrounding greenery, making you feel happy. Exquisite tables and chairs are arranged by the pool, and colorful breakfast delicacies are placed, like a beautiful painting.

The service staff were very attentive. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, they greeted us with friendly smiles, as if we were their most important guests. They carefully introduced each dish to us, from waffles to fresh fruit salad to freshly ground coffee, everything was mouth-watering. Not only were they attentive, they were always attentive to our needs and made sure we were happy and comfortable every moment.

For example, when we were still considering what drink to order, a waiter came over with a smile and recommended a special homemade juice, and explained in detail the ingredients and health benefits. This considerate service makes us feel extremely warm.

To give another example, one of our friends is a vegetarian and does not eat onions and garlic. After the waiter learned about it, he immediately arranged a special meal for him. We were deeply touched by this kind of meticulous care.

The enthusiasm and professionalism of these service staff, full of smiles, brought us a good mood throughout the day. Their attentive service and friendly attitude not only allowed us to enjoy delicious breakfast, but also made us feel the warmth of home.

It was an unforgettable morning, the view, the food, and the service all made us feel so happy. thank you all! Because of your efforts, we had a wonderful morning full of love and care. This kind of service experience is truly one of the best memories of our trip.
