I have stayed here several times both alone and with friends, usually for 3 or 4 days before and after a trip elsewhere. I have been coming to Kathmandu once or twice every year since 2012 and this is now my home from home. The staff are superb: always friendly and eager to give the best service, but without being intrusive. There is always a very polite welcome from the doorman who also makes the hotel feel very secure. The management regularly check with customers that everything is satisfactory. The location is central but very quiet. Rooms are spacious and beds comfortable. A highlight is the inner courtyard and garden with bar service where you can sit to relax, drink a cup of coffee, meet friends or even get on with some work. There is a sunny rooftop which is simple but kept beautifully clean. Food is good and reasonably priced. Unlike some places I have stayed, the Taleju is always looking to improve. This time, for example, they have new coffee shop serving excellent coffee. Even between my two visits this time they had changed from providing water in plastic bottles in bedrooms to reusable bottles with in-house processed water.
I can recommend the Taleju wholeheartedly.

All the staff at taleju are so professional and welcoming. we stayed before and after our ebc trek and they were happy to let us keep our spare bags safe and sound with them. the food was delicious and cheap ( highly recommended the crispy chicken burger and the gulab jamun/ rasbari ). the rooms were large and clean. it’s also located right in the middle of kathmandu, loads of cafes, restaurants, shops and markets within walking distance. The staff were kind enough to offer to walk us to certain places we werent too sure on their location. overall i highly recommend!!!

In the heart of the very bustling Thamel district, the garden of this hotel is a calm oasis. Efficient service.
The De Luxe rooms are small and without charm, with a tiny bathroom, the De Luxe Superior rooms are larger and more pleasant. We were able to test both during 2 stays and we highly recommend them. Otherwise, all rooms offer coffee makers and various toiletries, air conditioning and heating. Room at the back, water pumping system side, noisy.
Good restaurant with varied menu and very nice breakfast buffet with fresh egg preparation.
Good value for money.

As advertised. Vice nice for the low, low price. Good location, close to most everything in the Thamel area. Staff are very friendly & attentive-they actually interact w/you in a real way unlike at the 4 hotels I stayed in Northern India for 10 days after this stop-in general I found Nepalis way more friendly & mellow then the abrupt & nervous/jittery Indians.

The Momos and the Newar trad assorted item plated dinner of Samay Baji w/chicken in the restaurant were great. My room was well appointed & comfortable w/good lighting including electrical outlets where I didn't even have to use my convertor plugs. Finally, at the bar/restaurant cool young dude Abin was great to chat with & he went above & beyond by taking me to the spot where I saw the packaged buffalo jerky the day before when I was on my walking tour. Make sure you check in w/him for info, etc. Overall, a pleasant surprise.

I contacted this hotel on WhatsApp to see if they have a single room for me. They responded right away, quoted me an excellent price for 6 nights that included breakfast, and I accepted! I'm very happy with the staff, the hotel, and my room. Although it's an older hotel, as many are in Kathmandu, it is very clean, and has hot water (which not all places have). This hotel has a restaurant/bar, a spa, a doorman that salutes you as you come and go (he's so damn cute!) This hotel makes you feel SO welcome. The manager asks me daily how is everything...they are genuine, professional people who want to make sure your stay is a positive one! And it IS! Highly recommend!!! By the way...breakfast is a full hot buffet!!!
