Stayed at the Mountain Hotel before and after a trek to Everest Base camp. I was not expecting a very good standard of hotel but this was worse than I expected. It would appear that the standard of hotel being booked by the UK company Explore are slipping as this was not first time that Explore booked us into poor...

I went to Kathmandu on my personal tour last month to attend a wedding. The building of the hotel looks too old but I had no choice because the hotel is located centre of the city within a reach of most wedding addresses and this was the perfect location. We gladly booked a tour from Nepalonsale.com – who r very...

It may not match what we would expect from a hotel in Europe but it was ok for a couple of nights stay either side of our trek. The beds were clean and no sign of any insect life (I don't go looking for that sort of thing!). If you want an expensive, posh hotel then this isn't for you....

We recently travelled on Explore's Everest Base Camp trip, part of the reason for choosing their tour was the very clear statement in their literature that "[they] understand how important a good hotel is at the start and end of our trek." We had previously travelled with Explore in Nepal and had stayed at the Hotel Annapurna in Kathmandu, a...

Very dirty bathrooms, cockroaches under the bed. Not very comfortable beds, dirty linens. Slow staff, but they try... Terrible location, right over a very busy street, full of noisy traffic, hard to cross to the other side. It took 45 minutes to get lunch, and then I didn't get what I ordered. I would most definitely not stay here again!!

We were booked here by our tour-this would not have been our first choice-or second or third. The lobby looks fine, marble floors and clean, somewhat comfortable furniture. Pure deception. The bathrooms were worn and moldy. Towels and linens were shabby and stained. Beds were much too soft and the rooms need to be fumigated-or you need to be happy...

Due to problems geting flight to Lukla I spent 5 nights in 3 different rooms in this Hotel (on 2nd & 3rd floors). If you're after luxury then this isn't the place for you (why are you in Nepal though?). If you're going on a trek then this Hotel is ideally located close to Kathmandu centre, the staff are all...

Hotel Mountain can be termed as refurbished lodge in the garb of Hotel. It's conveniently located in prime area and all shopping and few good attractions within Walking distance. My visit was part of a marriage function which I attended in much better property next door (Hotel Annapurna) however the complete stay arrangement was done at Mountain. If you've visiting...
