Gakyil is a branch of Norbu Hospitality. It is a quality hotel located in the heart of Bhutan's capital town Thimphu. It is the sister of OSEL HOTEL. Gakyil is a 40 room 3 star property. It is nearby the best shopping and entertainment areas. The hotel is within easy reach of important cultural landmarks such as the Memorial Chorten, the Textile Museum, the Folk Heritage Museum.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Wonderful Experience :- I stayed at Gakyil hotel 3rd time during my business trip to Bhutan in July-2023 and I truly loved the hotel. Great location overall for sightseeing, recreation, dining and getting around. The hotel staff members ( mainly Yuden@Reception, Urmela Gurung@FNB,Bema Dhal @Cafe, Urmila Gurung @ Housekeeping and entire team ) were very helpful, friendly, especially courteous. The room was spacious , extremely comfortable and the restaurant food was delicious. Overall it was splendid experience and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Bhutan - ' The Kingdom of the Thunder Dragon'.

The hotel is located right next to Clock Tower and one can get great views of the mountains from the rooms on the top floor. Amenities need to improve a lot though. We faced a power cut for one hour in the night and one morning something as basic as bread was not replenished in the breakfast buffet.
I am still giving 4 stars because we visited within one month of reopening and it must have been very difficult to offer the expected standard of service.

the rooms were comfortable. Food was good. house keeping was good. the hotel was centrally located near clock tower. Most tasty Indian Food in Thimpu Market Centre. Located at the heart near druk hotel. They have Indian chef, and the staff, especially Leki Wangmo was very hospitable in her approach and took care of our order very well. Overall must visit to have Indian food here.

The location is fantastic for this hotel as it's right in city center. It's easy to walk from the hotel to anywhere in the core city. I took two meals at the restaurant and both were solid buffets. The bar has a good selection of local beers. Staff was very friendly and helpful in every instance. Wifi was a bit in and out, but usually worked well enough to accomplish some tasks.

I stayed at this hotel in August 2023. The hotel is located in the middle of Thimphu town, very good location to explore Thimphu town. Breakfast and dinner are very good with unique Bhutanese food. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff was courteous, friendly, and made a good impression. Especially, Eden, Yuden, Bema and Prakiti, they are very helpful. They made our trip wonderful. Thank you very much. I will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Bhutan.

It was a great experience having stayed at Gakyil for one month. Being away from your home, it is very important to meet people who are welcoming and always happy to help you. And it becomes more important when you are in a different country. The staff members like Kuenzang, Tul, Suzan, Namgay from FO were not only welcoming but helped keeping us warm and happy. Further, people from FNB like Rinjin, Pema, Kinga, Damcho, Tassey, Pabitra, Sonam were always taking good care of our food and serving with a happy heart. It felt like a sense of belongingness. People from room service like Dechen, Yankee and some other girls I’m sorry I forgot the names, were always ready to help at any time. While starting the day, people from reservation like Rachel wishing a good day with a smiling face, is a cherry on the cake. An organisation is all because of the hard working people and the services it offers. It is great that Gakyil has an immense workforce who are working day and night to make the guests feel at home. Like every other organisation, there are some grey areas that it needs to look after. There should be a power backup which will help in improving the quality of service. The WiFi needs to be a little faster and a cctv in the elevator so that nobody smokes there. I had to experience that twice which was very unpleasant, the elevator was smelling full of cigarettes. I hope these changes will make the experience even more memorable for the guests.

We stayed at Gakyil Hotel during our trip to Bhutan in October 2023 for 3 nights. We truly loved the hotel. It's location is too good in the capital city of Thimpu. We can easily shop around and find various restaurants surrounding the hotel. The hotel staff members ( Tanmoy @ Chef, Urmela Gurung@FNB, Leela@ housekeeping and entire team ) were very friendly, helpful and polite. The room was spacious, comfortable and the restaurant food was delicious.

Yes ofcourse u can stay with ur kid. Rooms are good and breakfast is complimentary. Lot of places to see around Thimphu and the hotel is located in the centre of the city. Hotel staff can also guide u regarding places to visit.
There are more places to choose from in the Thimphu area.
