A flawless stay, marked by flawless hospitality & a flawless start to the journey across Bhutan is perhaps the best I’d sum up my experience at the Le Meridian, Thimphu.

Post arrival in Bhutan, we were to travel to Thimphu first to begin what was our maiden trip across this beautiful country.

As we commenced the road trip from Paro to Thimphu, we were met with some picturesque & enchanting views en route in the form of the mighty eastern himalayan ranges as well as a multitude of streams & rivulets flowing through the vast landscape, breathing life into every nook & corner of what was a fascinating start to the ride to Thimphu.

Alas, we were welcomed into one of the major settlements in Bhutan & its capital, Thimphu.

After navigating our way through the bustling streets of Thimphu, we made our way to the hotel, Le Meridian.

Upon arrival, we were immediately taken aback by the hospitality we were treated to at the check in & were certain at that point of the fact that we were in for a great experience, befitting the name & the brand.

The sprawling indoors of the hotel, combined with the joyful & the service driven attitude of the people in charge at the hotel immediately transported us into a space of ease & that of utmost comfort.

The room was spacious, clean & offered us everything we were looking forward to on our maiden trip to Thimphu.

We decided to spend the rest of the day at leisure & had a chance to explore the delightful looking indoor heated pool with a good hour long session enjoying the warmth of the heated pool followed by a relaxing session at the in house spa, availing Ms. Rincho’s services for a 60 minute deep tissue massage.

A special mention to the entire team in charge for ensuring provisions in the form of heated sheets & heating units installed in the treatment room.

The food was delicious & served in the most incredible ambience imaginable at their in house restaurant.

Special mention to the F&B members Deki Yangden, Kelder Yoezer, Sital Soberi, Indra Adhikari, Jigme Lhendup, Kezang Bida, Nguyen Choki & Ms. Tshering among others for their exceptional service day in and day out.

Mr. Ganesh, the head chef is very accommodating of all special food requests & even otherwise, doles out the most incredible of dishes in what was a never ending food fiesta.

All in all, a very satisfying stay & undoubtedly, a lifelong memory.

Also, a short walk down from the hotel towards either ends will lead to a very active & a busy market area in mainland Thimphu & a walk down the same street will guarantee a satisfying shopping experience with decent dining options as well.

I had a wonderful stay at Le Meridien Thimphu! The hospitality here is exceptional. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to assist me, even helping with arranging a traditional wardrobe, which added a special touch to my Bhutan experience.

The restaurant staffs provided amazing service—they were attentive and always checked to ensure I was enjoying my meals. The food quality was excellent, and the warm smiles from the team made dining even more delightful.

The hotel itself is impeccably maintained. Housekeeping services are provided twice daily, ensuring that the rooms and common areas are spotlessly clean. The attention to detail truly made my stay comfortable and stress-free.

Le Meridien Thimphu is a perfect blend of luxury and authentic Bhutanese hospitality. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Thimphu!

I had a fantastic stay at the hotel, and the staff truly made it memorable. I want to give a special shoutout to Kezang Bida from the F&B team—she was excellent in every sense. She went out of her way to strike up a friendly conversation and even offered us local cuisines to try at the Lounge, which made our experience even more special. Her attention to detail, like offering cold water without me asking when the dishes were spicy, showed her genuine care. The hotel’s central location was perfect, and while the room was modern and clean, the flooring in my room could use some minor maintenance. Overall, the team exceeded our expectations, and Kezang Bida really stood out and we felt well taken care of!

If you want to find some luxury and Marriott standards amidst the buzzing town of Thimphu, then this is the place for you to be! The property is amazing, well-maintained, houses a spa, gym, indoor heated pool, and of course 2 amazing signature Le Meridien F&B outlets. Deki and the team at the front desk are so cheerful, helpful and welcoming. The rooms are pretty comfortable with a nice bath tub and shower area. I wish they clean the windows often so that the beautiful sunrise can be enjoyed without distraction. Special shoutout to the F&B team - Chef Anurag and his team for feeding me delicious food, and Yountan and his team members, Deki, Tshering, and others for being the best hosts! Surely going back as soon as I plan Thimphu again :)

The service at this property is possibly the best in the world. This is a lovely property located in the heart of Thimphu. It is very walkable to most of the city from the hotel. The rooms are very spacious ( I received a suite upgrade as a Marriott titanium member). The service there is absolutely amazing. I requested individual shampoo and bath gels as I do not like communal ones on walls. When I returned a few days later for another stay, my room already had the individual bottles placed there for me. The servers in the restaurant made special cakes for me each time I checked out. I don't have enough words to describe how wonderful the service there was. The breakfast buffet had a huge selection of foods to choose from. This will be a very special stay for anyone choosing to go to Thimphu.

Late evening was a special day for me . I was there with my friends for dinner which was already paid in advance Needless to say the least we were expecting was a good spread - what was promised ag the time of making Payment . To our horror it was a set menu which was 25%of a buffet menu . When we started protesting the restaurant manager suggested they we take Ala Carte but the dishes like broccoli which we wanted was not available/ purposely not made available .

Goodness served after an hour . Starters were served after main course . Main course was served in instalments one dish coming 15 mins after another .

They were reluctant to serve desserts after taking full money / payment in advance . 2 desserts were given which was pathetic/ awful to say the least .

Service was very ordinary as a hotel function was going on one level below and there was only 1 lady to serve us which was taking time . We wanted to finish early dinner and went at 8 pm / but was served at 915 pm

The hotel should have the courtesy to inform guests in advance about change in dinner plans / compensate guests for non service when they charge so so much .

We had booked this hotel via our travel agent as a part of the tour package. And we were not disappointed!

From check in to check out the entire experience was wonderful. Check in was a breeze. We got a traditional welcome with the hotel staff providing a white scarf along with a welcome drink & hot towels. We were explained different facilities available at the hotel and what was nearby (as we were in the center of the city and near the market). We were guided to the room which was spacious, clean and well decorated.

Restaurant experience was amazing, with good quality and tasty food. We had breakfast, lunch & dinner at the restaurant and each time we had a wonderful experience.

Service across the hotel was perfect and we were asked at regular intervals if we wanted anything specific and how the experience at the hotel was.

The hotel is at a walking distance from the clock tower and the market. We walked down a few times.

Really happy with the experience and will definitely visit again.

I can't believe what a wonderful experience this hotel was. The service was beyond fantastic. Every employee there made me feel like I was a king in my palace. The food was excellent. The suite I had was spacious and comfortable. I didn't feel comfortable with using soap and shampoo from the hanging units and they brought me individual bottles for my first two night stay. When I returned a couple of days later, they had the same individual bottles already in the suite for me. I wish I knew all the employee names, but the following people went way above and beyond what was required of them: Phub Wangmo, Tashi Namgay, Khentse Om, Namgay Dem, Karina Lhamo, Sonam Tenzin and all the others whose names I do not have. I would not consider any other hotel at Thimphu ever again.

On 28th February, I made full payment for the hotel accommodation at Le Meridien Thimphu for 21st March to 23rd March. I promptly received a confirmation booking from them and eagerly to travel Bhutan to celebrate my birthday. However, on March 12th, I received an email stating that they had to cancel my booking due to accommodating the head of state from 21st March to 23rd March.
Le Meridien Thimphu essentially left my family and me, hotel guests, in the lurch without any alternative offers for accommodation or compensation. Considering the most hotel room in Thimphu are already fully booked, this situation has left me feeling stranded and utterly disregarded. Is this the manner in which tourist are welcome in Bhutan? This experience raises questions about the hospitality and treatment of tourists in Bhutan.
It is surprising to believe that Le Meridien Thimphu, under the Marriot brand , would simply cancel a booking without any consideration.

I am deeply concerned regarding Le Meridien’s reservation system. One week prior to my trip, I received an email at 11pm stating that they would be cancelling my hotel room (which I had already paid for on Expedia) because “many officials will be staying”.

I tried to check with the reservation manager Karma Wangchuk. Instead of assisting me, he asked if it was possible for me to contact Expedia myself to cancel my reservation.

I don’t think it’s appropriate to ask a Marriott member to cancel my family’s trip, especially 1 week prior. If they had known that they require the hotel rooms for “officials”, they should not have allowed us to book these rooms, and we would have found alternative accommodation. It is too late to find other accommodation especially when it’s during a famous season, and we have paid for the visa, tour and flight tickets.

I have attached screenshot of the email for reference. Since then, they have been very unresponsive towards all my enquiries.

Hi I clearly do not remember the disability features at the hotel. We stayed at deluxe rooms & it had bath tub in washroom ( with no features for disable person) Request to reach out to hotel directly for more inputs. Cheers
