A badly maintained hotel with only one attraction being the front balcony overlooking the main road. The upholstery is bad and so are the furniture. The bathroom is horribly bad and smelly. The rooms have not been painted or done with for a long time now. The corridors outside the room have shutters which cuts the view of what is on the other part of the hotel. It was established about 30 years back and the owners have not looked back take care of the property. The food served is good but the stock of non veg items is old and smells.
We visited Thimpu this month. We got snowfall in Thimpu. Our hotel 89 is not so good. Room service is very poor. All the lady staff behave very rough. They have very limited idea about hospitality. It is very unlike to other hotel. Rooms are ok and very near to clock tower. Overall I don't recommend this hotel.
We started our journey by road, from Bangladesh, Dhaka to Changrabanda via bus. Reached Joygaon & checked in Phuntshilong border Immigration office. Our Tour operator guide was present with car to pickup us. Car started to move towards the capital of Bhutan. Very nice road moving upwards hills after hills from sea level. Car has no bumper, no trespass, no accident on road & it was under control of traffic rules. It took 6 hours to reach at our hotel 89, nice & clean hotels. Stayed 3 nights & enjoyed all sight seeing places. Staffs were friendly & helpful. But it was very cold temperature measured - 5 degree.
Hotel is OK. Staff is helpful. One thing everybody should remember before moving to hotel 89 that there is one step of about 8 inches within the room which gave a big fracture in the right leg of my wife. With the help of hotel people we got first aid and rushed to Delhi for further treatment. It happened just because of shape of the room. We never seen this type of room. Hotel management should compensate the treatment expenses which went in lakhs of rupees for replacement of hips. Please be careful.
This place has the only advantage of being located at the prime location. Everything is just a walk away. Coming to its rooms, they are spacious no doubt with comfortable beds and pillows, but the bathrooms are not so good. Water from the washroom was coming out from the flooring. The door was not getting locked as well. The wifi was not connected in the rooms and even in the lobby. The restaurant prices are exorbitant. A simple sandwich was charged 100 bucks. The reception people are confused with the orders given and served. Service is pretty slow. I have rated it 2 just for the location and the beds.
Between dirty floors and broken toilets with no water. We don't know where to start. As a family we stayed there. It was a pathetic experience. So I would definitely ask u not to ever book this place. Must have been great sometime. Right now it's just over inflated hotel staff and unclean rooms. Also no parking near hotel.
Clearly, this was a great hotel in the past, but it has turned into an old, neglected facility. The room design is nice, but you can see (and smell) the signs of age on the furniture. Even the door cards still use the old slide-in mechanism
well clean toilets and a very good friendly staff with a very good in house room service food. I heard if you visit in winters u get a good discounts. well its middle in the town but the one who takes their own car need to find the parking on their own they dont have the parking facility though they help u to find one.
We(with my family) visited Hotel 89 on Oct 2 and stayed for 1 night.I would be totally honest and say that if you get any better option, please go for it.The hotel has an elevator access but the moment you enter the room; you would smell the dampness of the room.Walls paints have scraped off,if you look under the bed you will find dust dirt and beer bottles. The washroom was filthy dirty. They upsell the rooms saying they hve good view.Indeed they have but of Hotel Le Meridien if that's what you are looking forward to see.Breakfast is also same disaster. They give bedtea 7:30 am onwards. We ordered lunch 6 hours earlier so that they can deliver it on right time but the stupid management forgot our order and lost the paper. THEY CHARGE YOU 2500/- INR per room
I stayed here for 02 nights with my family. I like this hotel because of its centrally location and spacious rooms. staffs are good and helpful. Very few hotel in this range have lift facilities. Good hotel for senior citizen. Rooms have city view mostly view of Hotel Le Meridian.
