Detailed Reviews
We stayed for 2 nights in Khang Residency and it was such a pleasant experience, starting from the ever smiling team at the reception to the kitchen staff and room service.
The room comes with heated floors, heated bathroom floors, a heated towel rack and all around hot water... bathtub included. We had our own stand alone room heater which we could switch on and off depending on our comfort. The balcony has sliding glass doors and a sliding mesh door, to either bring in the cold air or keep it out.
The room was spacious and warm. With the cold weather, slippers and heated towels were provided. Morning coffee from room service was not charged additionally until other hotels I've stayed in.
The kitchen service was like that of a home stay or even home. The food was cooked to our taste (considering the Bhutanese love their spice... and we didn't). If something in the menu was not available, they provided other options.
I would recommend Khang Residency as it truly resonates with Bhutan's culture of welcoming their guests.

We know Khang Residency now for more than 10 years. And we allways love to come back. The specious rooms and bathrooms are spotless and every little detail works absolutely great. This time we had the roof-top-apartments with the great kitchen, large sitting room and three bedrooms with individual bathrooms - just the right thing for this tour. What was new this time, was the café next to the lobby. Every morning we got freshly brewed cappuccino brought to our room by the friendly staff. We will be back next time.

Khang Residency in located in a lovely part of Thimpu and rooms offer beautiful views of the town. The ambience was lovely traditional and the hotel felt like a homely nest where everyone wished to assist guests. Staff certainly are the treasure of this hotel - they provide support 24/7, a coffee and tea awaits at reception upon return from a busy day and Dorji and her colleagues are the sincerest and dearest team members. We enjoyed our breakfast and dinner and the range of tasty meals provided was more than we expected and/or could eat. Compared with other hotels, including more expensive ones, Khang Residency stood out, specifically thanks to its care and the kindness of staff.

Nice hotel with spacious rooms. I had a corner room on the 4th floor which had a balcony with a great view of the temple nearby and the entire Thimphu valley. Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable, and best part, the floors were heated.
The food at the hotel wasn't very good. Breakfast options were super limited, especially if you're vegan or vegetarian.
The in-room safes across the hotel are not working, and the sauna and steam room are also out of service. There is a lot of construction around the hotel.
Overall the hotel is in a nice quiet location a 15 minute walk uphill from the center of Thimphu. For the price it's a great hotel and I'd stay there again. But would love if they fixed the sauna and steam and the in-room safes so I don't have to carry all my valuables around with me everday.

Room is spacious and comes with:
1. 2 bottles of complimentary mineral water
2. Instant coffee and tea
3. A Kettle
4. Shampoo, conditioner and 2 small bar of soap. No body wash.
5. Heated toilet tiles, heated towel rack, hot water and electric radiator. These made our stay comfortable in winter and dry our laundry.
6. An international power socket/plug.
Had dinner twice at its restaurant and find its food slightly too salty to our liking but portion is generous. Breakfast is really nice with many options of cereal, eggs, fruits, bread etc.
Quiet surrounding even though can hear dog barking at night (which is common and doesn't really affect my sleep though) but hotel do provide complimentary ear plugs if required.
Wifi works perfectly. Not near to Thimphu Town.
We want to thank the friendly staff for helping us wear our Gho and Kira too!
Totally recommend this hotel due to its quiet surroundings and awesome service staff!!

Excellent hotel, great in-room facilities, the best were heated floors, towel racks, a nice tub bath, big room, comfortable.
The only disadvantage is that it has very average views - some mountains but there is a lot which is used for maintenance and repairs outside. Another thing was that we visited in March when the hotel was not occupied so there meals were a la carte and limited at that.

We had a really lovely stay at the Khang Residency. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely smart, clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly, helpful and flexible We asked for a bit more spice in our food for dinner on the second night and although they had never been asked for this before, they were most obliging! Thank you so much Khang Residency - a really lovely place to stay on our first night in Bhutan.

Staff are kind and very helpful. Rooms are well kept, comfortable and very clean. The selection of Bhutan-based books for sale in the lobby (and some to read in the room) is also a thoughtful touch. The hotel restaurant is good, but even better is the Indian-based grill restaurant next door to Khang Residency.

The friendliest place one can start a holiday. Quaint, personal, quiet and very very private. Superb. The only minor hitch being communication. Not very fluent in english. Speak slowly, for them to understand what you need. Once done, everything is EXCELLENT
