The Pema is a chic four-star boutique hotel in Thimphu, Bhutan's capital city. Our 26 rooms are aesthetically designed to balance contemporary decor and conveniences with traditional Bhutanese design. Suites make up more than half of the inventory of rooms. The hotel features two restaurants - Zhego and M Bistro - and the country's first open rooftop bar, as well as a spa and fitness centre.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
January was a perfect for me to travel due to hectic schedule and made a quick trip to Bhutan from Dubai, it's a complete opposite world. Just felt a part of Heaven, the last two days of my stay was awesome at The Pema:- Lotus Flower. I was welcomed with khadar(Bhutanese way of welcoming the guest with scarf), Check in at the hotel was a sweet experience with typical Bhutanese tea and I was accompanied by a sweet girl to the room and gave me entire details of the room and the hotel with local information. I tried Bhutanese food and it was awesome and during my stay at Thimphu never got a chance to go out for food because this hotel have 3 restaurants and served delicious foods. The room where I stayed was huge with spectacular views of Thimphu valley and it was so clean and neat, no doubt on housekeeping staffs. Amazing service with Amazing staffs specially Mr.Hem, Front Office Manager.......coming soon with my family.

Took up a Staycation at The Pema to celebrate my birthday and it was worth choosing this hotel. Room upgrade was surprising with beautiful deco and the girls at the reception made my day so memorable with touching birthday wishes. I was amazed to feel the cleanliness of the hotel & the room. Spa treatment was an addition treat to rejoice myself, no words to press this well-experienced therapist!! Food was served in the room and it was delicious. This hotel is taking a serious protocols on COVID-19, seeing sanitizers everywhere and practicing it strictly from Check-in till Checkout. Thank you guys!

When you visit a new country for more than 2 weeks, you tend to miss home but I didn’t feel that even for a minute when I stayed at The Pema by Realm. The love, warmth & kindness that was showered upon me by the well trained and welcoming 60 people staff at The Pema, Thimpu made me feel at home. With smiles on their faces, they served me the best breakfast (not to mention- best Indian cuisine served by Chef Chananthorn). While exploring the city of Thimpu, I also experienced the best massage at The Pema and also had the most amazing cocktails (The Thirteen being my favourite) alongside a bonfire at the rooftop. Not to forget I had a breath-taking view from my room overlooking the beautiful city of Thimpu. The housekeeping always made sure that my room was spick & span at all times, while they went an extra mile always to ensure that my stay was as comfortable as it could be. I would like this opportunity to thank Hem, Bishnu and the entire staff of Pema and also would highly recommend to choose The Pema whilst visiting Thimpu. It’s the best hotel in the city and deserves no less than 5 stars!

I stayed at The Pema for slightly more than 2 weeks. The staff there are super helpful and friendly, and would go out of their way to ensure you’ve had a good experience. As I had to take some calls / meetings there, they arranged for a table and chair to be brought up to my room so it’s comfortable for me. Not only that, they not only recommended me places to go, they also went out of their way to help me find somewhere to get an additional SD card (cos I ran out of space on mine). The staff are very meticulous and remember my likes / dislikes in terms of food. I’m a messy person and I really appreciated the housekeeping staff cleaning up my space and putting my items neatly and in place. The Pema may not be around the clock tower area but the location is perfect because it’s walkable to the main town yet offers some peace and quiet (with fantastic view of the city from their rooftop bar). Nevertheless, if you decide to cab down to town, the friendly staff can help you flag / arrange for a taxi in advance. This is one of the best hotel experience I’ve had, and definitely the best one in Bhutan. Thank you Bishnu and Hem!

A stay at the Pema by Realm is a Love Affair. Photos do not do justice to the aesthetics of the hotel. While the hotel is one of the most aesthetically pleasing you might come across, The Pema is about much more than what meets the eye. The food is carefully curated to mesmerize your senses, the views are magnificent but what really takes your breath away is the service. Each and every member of the team is dedicated to ensuring that your stay is as pleasant as can be. Be it special requests for food, room arrangements or something as basic as helping plan your itinerary - the team is masterful in dealing with all guest requests.
This combined with the attention to detail - there is an umbrella basket with family sized umbrellas at the entrance of the hotel (Note: Bhutan receives rainfall 5 months a year), the well placed rugs in the room, easy to use soap dispensers, makes The Pema your preferred destination. The hotel caters to your every sensation and is the perfect place to spend your well earned vacation.

Stayed here for 2 nights with some friends. Very nice boutique hotel with fantastic team of friendly and happy staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Food was excellent. Personally when I visit a place, I basically look for two things; 1- Healthy clean food & 2- the staff who caters to your need with dedication and a smile and the pema is a combination of both. I have been to The pema for multiple occasions and I am very much satisfied with the service they provide. In addition to the warm ambience, I am very impressed with the staff who are well trained and looks after every small details which makes the visit a pleasant one.

It was during my visit to Bhutan for corporate work I stayed at The Pema by Realm for 2 nights in December 2021 and I had an amazing experiences. Hotel is operated under strick covid protocols with surprising PPE kit offered Complimentary in the room. Services were excellent from my arrival to checkout. I've stayed at the Taj (twice) and at Le Meridian before being introduced to The Pema by a colleague. Thank you colleague ! I'll be coming back to The Pema every time now. A more peaceful setting that the city centre hotels (important in the early hours when the local dogs start serenading each other !) Very spacious room (I had the Valley Suite which has a spectacular view up and down the valley), comfortable bed and wonderful rainfall shower. Service by all staff members is exceptional - they couldn't be more helpful or genuinely friendly. The owners are also around a lot of the time and are happy to take your feedback). Ate in the restaurant or Roof bar most nights - good menu and food well cooked and presented. Good selection of drinks to go with it including local draught beer if that's your fancy. Don't be phased by it being outside the city centre. 15 - 20 minute walk gets you there or a $1.50 taxi ride. For that you get great service, comfortable spacious accommodation and "that" view

We arrived well before our check-in time at the hotel after early morning flight. On the way from Paro Airport our guide informed them about our early arrival and they were very welcoming. They informed us the room booked for us by our travel agent was yet to be free so they made special arrangement for us and gave a temporary different room so my son could sleep and relax after a long journey. Once we woke up our room was ready and we shifted in our room. This hotel is located on a hill overlooking the Thimphu city. Taxis are easily available to visit the town centre and back. Breakfast spread is good. Somedays they have buffet breakfast and some days u can order your choice from their menu. Room service is very efficient and quick. Overall a pleasant stay experience.
