This place looks like it was a cool place to stay maybe 20 years ago but has since fallen into disrepair. The bathrooms, bedrooms, lounge and outdoor hangout are in need of serious updating and TLC. If nothing is done it will soon be on one of those top 10 creepy abandoned places you see floating around the web. The...

We arrived in Kampala after more than 20 hours of travelling from the UK and just wanted a nice, clean place to recover. IF you look at this place's website it appears to be wonderful and even has pictures of a pool! THE REALITY, HOWEVER, IS VERY DIFFERENT. Although the people working in the hotel were very accommodating, the place...

Kampala backpackers is a strange place. It's like it once was a great place, with lots of facilities, crazy club-life and a popular hotel. But nowadays you only see a glimps of all that. What strucks is the dark and huge bar. You can sit outside on a big terrace and they play funky music with a light show. But...

I spent many nights at this hotel and I have been staying in many of the room types (bandas, double and single rooms). I have a mixed feeling about this place. My advice is that If you are not picky, not looking for a quiet place and not staying for long in Kampala, the place is a relatively good option....

I stayed here whilst on a school exhibition. We occupied 2 large rooms of 12 - our room had only one light dangling from the ceiling which made it very hard to see. The beds were comfortable but the setting was extremely noisy - the place is more of a club than a quiet retreat, they had music blaring until...

Nice place. I was there in the low season, so not very many people, but still, the ones I might where wonderful people. Travellers that hade good stories to tell, and gladly shared them. The place it self has all you need. Plenty of showers, toilets, couches, pooltable, and lots of beds in the form of dorms, singles, doubles etc....

I was utterly disappointed with the place. Rooms are totally ran down. The room I slept in had just a bed, a lousy mosquito net (supported by bamboo sticks) and walls and lots of mosquitoes. The washrooms were not lit at night and I had to wait till morning to take a shower. Only good thing maybe was the free...

From Canada, studying at a university in a rural ugandan village. I love the village lifestyle but it was time for a break. I came to Kampala to get some groceries, stay in a hostel and meet some people. Backpacks is a great place to socialize. Everyone is so friendly and the open environment is perfect to make friends. The...

I stayed here for a couple of nights in January. The atmosphere is good and I liked the location (a bit away from all the hustle and bustle), but the service is absolutely pathetic. I booked a trip to the Murchison falls and chimp trekking. The itinerary said that the food is included, but it wasn't, so just make sure...

A bit far from town, this hostel has a nice place for campers, but the rest doesn't worth it. Dirty and ruined rooms, bathrooms that doesn't work and dirty and old installations. The owner was saving to buy his new Mercedes SLK to show it to the regge celebrities of the country instead of renovate his old installations. Food doesn'...
