Well, there seems to be no relation to the price you pay versus what you get at this property. It never felt like a particularly good value to me, the rooms are a bit old and there seems to be nothing interesting aside from a small market that is particularly interesting nearby. The photos I see emphasize the food, which seemed acceptable to me, but no more. While I have no specific complaints about this hotel, I can't say that they tried particularly hard to make me want to come back either.

I enjoyed my stay in the hotel, the ambiance was nice. The location was perfect because it was a walking distance to the city center where the high end shops and bars are located and also the boat station to Goree Island. The restaurant offered very good food with a lot of varieties especially for breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the lounge at night where they play live music on some days. The hotel staff are very nice, always ready and quick to help with anything one needed. I’d like to use this medium to also mention Josephine, a staff in the restaurant who was always happy to help. Overall a decent hotel with good value for money.

I stayed at Novotel for five nights in October. The lobby gives the impression of a classy hotel, but the rooms are in serious need of updating. It looks like the bathrooms have been renovated, which is great, but the rooms themselves are small and worn out. The in-room dining menu was extremely limited in vegetarian options. Laundry service and the breakfast buffet were great. All of the male staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful, the female staff - not so much. There is an ATM in the hotel by the front desk, which was convenient. Overall good but wouldn't stay again.

I stayed at the Novotel Hotel for 4 nights in January to February 2025. The hotel is very stylish, clean, and comfortable. The ample lobby is very welcoming. My room had a large area for sitting, large screen TV with a few stations, including music videos of West African and international music, walk in shower, separate room for toilet.
Breakfast buffet is organized with fresh fruits, figs, apricots, prunes. various breads and what looks like home-made fruit jams. Millet, various fresh yogurts, several cereals, and smoked salmon. A few salads are also available. Hot foods include 4 – 6 items, varying from bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hard cooked eggs, a spicy tomato based veggie dish. The made-to-order station includes eggs fixed any way, and omelets with choice of 7 ingredients and 4 spices.
Fresh juices, bottled water, several coffee and tea options round out the breakfast. Open for lunch. Dinner fare include menu ordering options or a buffet with mains, salads, sides, and dessert. Service is impeccable.
The fitness room is open 24/7, and the entrance is next to the front desk, The elliptical machines and treadmills offer a beautiful sea view during the work out. Bring your own music.
The conference rooms were always busy.
The pool area includes three cabanas and pool towel service. Very refreshing and close to pool restaurant and bar.
Security is extensive and thorough. Housekeeping service is great and trustworthy. The small gift shop offers some handicrafts including fashion batik fans, perfumes, upscale clothing for women at boutique prices.
One day my key did not work and the replacement did not work. They determined that a tech was needed. He was at work on replacing the lock battery within 5 minutes.
Everyone here was extremely helpful, polite, professional. I cannot possibly name all the wonderful people and one name I can remember is ABABACAR.
Great people and service.
Sea front rooms offer a window to the sea when you are near the window and open it for a fresh breeze.
Seaview rooms offer a window to the sea. Be aware that traditional musicians often perform at 7pm in hotel outdoor bar area, loud enough to be heard in sea view rooms.

I have been to this hotel a few times. The last experience was the worst. I came to this hotel from long way and despite availability, reception asked 80 usd extra for 2 people for 1 or 2 hours earlier check in which I have never came across with something like this considering my big hotel experience. The only good receptionist was Mr ABASSY, he is so sacrificing worker. Safety box was not working and to change the room he came by himself to help me. Also when I was restaurant the waiter insisted to pay at the table but Mr Abassy accepted to put in room bill and we paid for before check out. The workers there are not aware that they are selling service… Strange attitudes… food at breakfast buffet finished but they don't follow well to bring new food again. waiting waiting… the hotel group must check these things otherwise customers will move to other hotels i believe…

As a European, you are treated incredibly badly in this hotel, especially if you don't speak French. You are ignored, shouted at and lied to. The staff themselves speak no English or only very poorly, which makes communication almost impossible.
No comfort is offered: even everyday things like tea, juice or towels are not provided even when asked for. The staff actively refuses any service.
The rooms are old and worn. The price for the overnight stay is massively inflated.
Be careful: when checking in, a credit card is required as security, on which a large amount is reserved. When checking out, a different credit card is required to pay for the stay because the original card supposedly does not work. The reserved amount will not be refunded.

This is a 2* hotel pretending to be a 4*. So many things about it that are just unacceptable. The AC was lame, even in a cool time of year. The shower had one temperature - cold - no matter what time of day it was. The entire room felt worn out and beyond shabby. the reception staff were not at all friendly. There is no gym or fitness facility. The breakfast was just about passable, but low quality. But the prices are 4* - how do they get away with this? Lack of alternative options? Or milking the business clients in this part of town? I will not be going back!

The room is correct. For the price we paid, we had everything we're expecting of a hotel room-- coffee, tea, comfortable bed, a shower with a working heater, and bonus is the nice view from our room. The breakfast was excellent!! For heavy eaters, they also serve rice and fish/meat and it's perfect if you're the brunch kind of person or if you have a long day ahead of you. 5 stars for the bacon which is very expensive in Dakar and quite hard to find :p

On the date of my arrival (May 20, 2024, at 8am) the receptionist who attended to me was rude, rude, unavailable and very aggressive. She did not provide me with information regarding access to the room, she refused to insist on my payment via Visa credit card, she refused to clearly write her name so that I could report her bad behavior. The room I stayed in did not correspond to my reservation instructions through HRS (from the World Bank), it did not have a view of the sea or pool. The mattress was extremely soft, without comfort, which prevented me from sleeping well, I needed a more rigid/orthopedic mattress, as I was at work and it is very important to be able to rest well and wake up without back pain. It was not a pleasant experience at all.

Dear edalmann, We sincerely apologize for the unsatisfactory experience you encountered with our front desk employee. Providing exceptional customer service is our top priority, and we regret that we fell short during your check-in. Rest assured that we will address this issue internally to ensure it does not happen again. Regarding the room discrepancy and the mattress comfort, we understand the importance of a good night's sleep, especially during work trips. We will investigate the room assignment process to prevent such errors in the future. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we will strive to improve based on your comments. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide you with a much-improved stay. Warm regards Aby Myriam POUYE

I stayed for two weeks there and can say it's a neat, spacious hotel, very close to the seaside and with many rooms with sea view. The food is good though there could be a little bit more of variety. My main criticism refers, however, to the service: I had breakfast at different times and quite often there was either not much tea or/and bread selection left or/and the guy preparing egg dishes was not on his place. The worst was that I observed many times staff getting small plates of food obviously for themselves rather than taking care of missing items for the guests. In one instance the guy in charge of preparing egg dishes stood next to me at the coffee machine, greeted my friendly, than explained to his colleague how the coffee machine works and once both had gotten their coffee, they just left the breakfast room. The other issue I had with the bar and the terrace restaurant: When ordering a glass of wine, they gave me twice the most expensive one without asking me in advance which one I want (e.g. by showing me the drinks list); it also happened a few times that the most reasonable red wine (Merlot) was not available. When it comes to the payment, it happened several times that the waiters didn't have change and needed to go getting it somewhere else in the hotel. In one case the waitress came back and gave me an insufficient amount of change without even apologizing for it.

1. Getting visa – contact with Sen embassy. Despite of writting that EU citizens don't need visa, it wasn't so on December 2014. I simply registered via internet, paid ~ 50 $ and get visa in airport. I didn't do vaccination against yellow fever. 2. About prices: July–late September is humid season, hotels reduce prices up to 40%. I visited Sen on late December. Excellent. That's hardto understand what You are looking for. I honestly recommend hotel Ibis, it is side to side with Novotel. Price is lower, the personal is more friendly, but You can use also services of Novotel, pool is common. 3. About fligts – there are very many possibilities, look internet. I like Turkish Airlines. 4. I guess – 1 day in Dakar for city tour is enough, 1 day for Goree Island, 2 days for Saloum delta national park, 3 days for Sant Louis, 1 day in Dakar at the pool before fligt. You will be happy!!! 5. Senegal isn't a cheap country for tubabs! But – there I'd met the most friendly people in Africa! Learn some words on Woloff and always be kind. Good luck!
