Villa Anakao is a great and really unique place to stay. The room we stayed in was decorated with unique African style and was really cozy. The staff was really friendly, giving us advice on what to do and where to go and helping us book day trips. They really made us feel welcome and special with their service. They also had a cute dog named Zulu, which was really lovely. Villa Anakao is a really communal place to stay. You can get to know the staff and other guests if you want to spend time at the lovely terrace or a little restaurant area in the yard. There is really nice, and a big pool in the yard and you can go to supping to the ocean almost straight from the yard. Breakfast was good (fried eggs or omelet, bread, fruits and pancakes, and great coffee), and they offered it to you right at the table. You can also have lunch and dinner at the Villa at a reasonable price. They have their own chef who makes excellent Mauritius food. Overall, the atmosphere and energy in this Villa are charming. The only minus is the location cause there aren't any good restaurants or beaches near Villa. Although we had rented a car, so it wasn't a problem. You can take a bus or taxi to places as well. Still, we would highly recommend renting a car cause it's inexpensive in Mauritius.

I travelled to Mauritius for business in both Feb and March 2020, staying at Villa Anakao for 5 nights and 3 nights respectively. This is an excellent option if you are looking for a quiet, laid back retreat away from the flashy resorts and built-up areas such as Port Louis. As mentioned in previous reviews, staff are really friendly and go out of their way to make your stay an enjoyable one. The food is excellent, home-cooked Mauritian dishes each night served outside in a covered eating area by the pool. Breakfast is also good, with eggs cooked to order and fresh fruit. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and have everything you need for a pleasant stay. As a business traveller I was away for most of the day but it was great to come back in the evening, sit on the verandah with a couple of beers and enjoy a traditional Mauritian dinner each night. For those on holiday, the pool area is simple but clean and well-maintained, and there is a beach a couple of minutes’ walk away. Just to note, I would highly recommend hiring a car if staying here - there aren’t really any shops or restaurants within walking distance and although public buses are frequent, you will have a lot more freedom with a car. Driving in Mauritius is easy, hiring a car is inexpensive and there is secure parking on the premises.

If you plan on visiting Mauritius and wish to stay at an expensive luxury resort at one of the lovely beaches, then fair enough. If you are not, then make sure you stay here. Solene, Patrica and the staff at Villa Anakao work as a team to make your visit just a little bit special. The location near Port Louis is ideal for day trips to other parts of the island. The room I stayed in, orange, was upstairs and huge with a massive terrace, really good, as was the view over the ocean, only 40m away! No beach thou. The food they serve is consistently good. Omelette and bacon for breakfast plus fruit and the trimmings, excellent. Their evening dinner is also very good and reasonably priced. The place is very clean and the house staff do a great job. If you happen to be visiting when their guest singer is entertaining their diners, you are in for a real treat. Three hours of listening to a magical voice, I would have paid good money just to hear him, so make sure you tip him well, you will not be disappointed. I have travelled the world and stayed in a lot of places, this place I highly recommend.

We recently stayed 2 nights at this villa in the yellow room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room was basic but clean. There are plenty of lovely outdoor spaces with a beautiful pool and great views for taking in the sunrise. Breakfast was simple but good- served outside in the dining area. You will need to either rent a car or take a taxi as there’s not much walking distance- however Port Louis is just 20min or so away traffic dependant. I would also highly recommend Kalum the villas recommended taxi- we had a delightful time with him!

Clean, practical room. Nice view. Frendly, helpful staff. Real Mauritius food was for breakfeast and dinner. Tiszta, praktikus szobák. Gyönyörű kilátás a teraszokról. Barátságos, segítőkész személyzet! Igazi mauritiusi reggelik és vacsorák.

We loved our time here. Spent a week between the cottage and the main villa. My husband's main reason to be in Mauritius was for business and we all felt very secure here when he had to leave us each morning. Our son really enjoyed the use of the large pool. Breakfast every morning was delicious and a treat to eat it with the spectacular view. Evening time sunsets were spectacular. The honesty bar was a cute and well stocked option. Our room in the villa was very spacious and veey clean. We loved experiencing both the villa and the cottage. The cottage was gorgeous with a sufficiently equipped kitchen Wi-Fi and television were great too. The only negative was that the sitting room furniture was really very uncomfortable for the length of time it took to watch a movie. We will definitely stay again when we return to Mauritius.

This place is amazing! The staff were so friendly and took care of us very well. The villa is just beautiful and the atmosphere is so relaxing. If you go left outside the villa and walk 2 min you have a really good place for lunch, the girl who’s working there is just so friendly and the food is just something extra 😁 Can’t recommend this place enough!

We had a lovely time staying here. The staff were very friendly. Food and drinks were great and we enjoyed being able to sit with the other guests in the outdoor gazebo/dining area. It is not in a tourist area so you will need to drive wherever you need to go to. It is a small hotel so is quiet and intimate.
