We spent just one night at the Lokanga, but could certainly have stayed longer. Unlike many of the upscale hotels in Tana, the Lokanga is located up on the hill near the Queen’s Palace. The hotel’s terrace and our room had great views out over the city. The service was very friendly – we were offered a welcome drink on...

We arrived in Lokanga after a long journey, as most do, and immediately felt a sense of calm descend over us. The hotel is beautifully styled with a touch of homeliness. It has amazing views of Tana and is a lovely vantage point from which to stroll down through they city's old cobbled streets. The food was also great, so...

We were the only residents on our one night stay. We got the room with the toilet behind the screen, asked to be moved to a room with a separate toilet and shower which happened immediately. The room was amazing. We had the shared balcony to ourselves. Dinner was lovely really tasty. Breakfast of eggs and bacon was the best...

Located high above Tana Lokanga is a welcome oasis in a very busy city, It commands excellent views over the city, and was once the residence of the royal musicians. From the first warm welcome the place is enchanting. The rooms are typical french style all with facilities and free wifi access. Sitting on the restaurant terrace high above everything...

If you want to be in the noise and bustle of Tana, this isn't for you. But if you want somewhere to retreat after a hectic day of sightseeing, there is nowhere better. High above the city, close to the old royal palace, this lovingly restored colonial house makes a perfect oasis. The views are stupendous, the rooms (well, ours,...

Nice rooms, period features & good attention to detail. Great view over the city from the veranda & some of the rooms have a shared balcony too. Great food from the restaurant. Attentive staff. We stayed on 2 separate nights. Both rooms were good but the 1st night was noisy due to the people upstairs going to the airport in...

Amazing view, wonderfully attentive hosts and they all do what they can to make your stay a pleasant one. Food is delicious. We stayed there two nights - on our arrival to Madagascar and then again the night before our departure. We had two different rooms. The one had a terrace where we could look out on the city for...

It is not difficult to see why this hotel is number 1 on Tripadvisor in Antananarivo. We stayed at the Lokanga on the first night of our honeymoon. It had been something of a culture shock arriving in Antananarivo - the only city in the world with no traffic lights and apparently no pavements either! The Lokanga was a complete...

What a treat to stay here! The view is OUTSTANDING, the customer service unfaultable, the food in the restaurant superb and the room absolutely gorgeous. Attention to detail abounds here. After a 15 hour delay by Kenya Airways, the hotel receptionist stayed in constant contact with us, co-ordinating the driver who was to pick us up at the hotel. They...
