We stopped here for lunch on our city tour of Addis. The grandeur of years gone by bare shines through the tired decor and grime. The food was mediocre and the bathrooms disgusting. It is very sad to such a beautiful landmark slide so deep. We did enjoy the piano player tinkering and lifting the gloomy spirit of the place

I fled this hotel after two nights. The single room I stayed in was in the old main building, and very dilapidated. The first thing I had to do was to call for help to fix the broken bedside lamp (turned out the whole lamp was broken, not just the bulb) as well as the light in the bathroom. The... More

I have been to Addis for 4 days and states at Taitu hotel at Piazza and I found it beyond my expectation. It is an old stylish hotel with wooden floors and had my rooms with private and common toilet.it is highly recommended if you are in Addis and budgeted traveler. They have a good food too but very costy.if... More

I didn't stay here just ate at their restaurant. Its good to see the Taitu reopen after a fire that closed it last year. Its quite simply a legend. A historical landmark and a piece of Addis history, sitting proud at the heart of the crazy Piazza district. Came here for dinner and ordered a range of Ethiopian dishes. All... More

I spent an awful night there once - I hear it had a major fire not long ago. I'm not sure if it could have made it worse. The room was run down, the service was non-existent and the cheap price was still too much.

Having read the reviews here, I avoided the downright cheap rooms and went in for a 410 birr one in the new block. The room was...well...you get what you pay for - cracked linoleum floors, but clean bed linen. The bathroom was clean, but very very basic - an oil can for a bucket and fifteen minutes of running the... More

Taitu is a major peice of Addis history. Though rooms are basic, it brings together a vibrant community of artists and musicians, and has a uniquely awesome atmosphere. The vegan lunch buffet is some of the best food in town, and sought out by many of my Ethiopian colleagues. TIP ask for a room in the 'old' building. Make sure... More

The part I stayed in, in this hotel, is in serious need of refurbishing. The shared bathrooms are dreadful, and the rooms need at least repainting. It seemed to me that the waiting staff spent most of their time helping guests sort out the (paid for) wi fi problems. The staff was courteous and helpful. The hotel is old, and... More

Me and my sister got one of the cheapest rooms. Very basic, but okay. We loved the vibe of this place: international and sometimes even mesmerizing. Don't ask me to explain, you just feel the place is full of history and you know that the people you meet on the terrace, while enjoying a wonderful buffet, are not the only... More

The Taitu looks mainly run-down. It doesn't even have a "former glory" kind of atmosphere, it's more a collection of old stuff thrown together in a bare hallway. I just had dinner here and wasn't impressed. The French onion soup didn't taste of onion and had only some burnt shreds of onion. Next I had a local dish (sorry, forget... More
