This is a comfortable hotel although the rooms and especially bathrooms are a little snug. The restaurant serves a great lamb and prune tagine. They will organise airport pick up for you which is very welcome when arriving late. On the whole reasonable value for money.

Its hard not to like Hotel Guynemer.

First of all, the staff are very friendly. Everyone is keen to help. The rates are very good, when you consider the standard of the rooms. Sure, its not the Sheraton, but we stayed here twice and our room was fairly modern, a decent size and had a fairly new bathroom.

They have an airport pick up/drop off service, which is very handy.

The downside is that rooms which adjoin the street can be a bit noisy. Both times our room was on the street, which can be loud till after midnight. But you could just shut the window and you woudn't notice.

If you are only staying a night or 2 in casablanca, then Hotel Guynemer is great. I had to give it 4 stars, just because the staff there try so hard to make you feel welcome.

Also, the breakfast was good. The guy that serves breakfast was very friendly and always up for a chat.

Its not luxurious, but you get much more than your money's worth here.

It seems to be more popular with Moroccan business people than with travellers. Its also in a pretty handy spot and you can pretty much walk anywhere in Casablanca.

In July 2006 my daughter, sister-in-law, and I traveled to Morocco and stayed at the Hotel Guynemer on our first night. This was our first trip to Morocco and we were a little concerned about how we three women would be received. We picked the perfect place to stay as the staff immediately put us at ease and even found a guide who gave us a quick tour of the city. That evening I had my first tagine at the hotel restaurant and was delighted with the live entertainment. The rooms are small but very clean and it is the perfect spot for single women who are starting out in Casablanca. They even personally delivered us to the train station the following day. I was so impressed with the staff that I chose to return the night before I left the country. Not surprisingly, they all remembered my name and made me feel like I had returned home, not just to a hotel. I would recommend Hotel Guynemer to anyone who needs an inexpensive place to stay in Casablanca.

We checked in to this hotel at 2 pm, paid, left our passports at the front desk so they could copy them, and went up to our room. Within 35 minutes, my husband noticed his arm was burning. He looked down and saw red bugs crawling on his arm. He inspected the bed, where he was sitting checking email, and saw several others crawling on the sheets. Within 5 minutes, his arm was swollen so we immediately decided we weren't dealing with this and packed our bags and went downstairs, returning the unused bath towels and key. We said we would like to leave because there were bugs all over the bed and floor, my husband had been bitten and the bites were already starting to swell, and we did not want to stay; we asked for our passports and our money to be returned so that we could leave. The manager, the same man who checked us in, took our money, and offered us a massively overpriced tour for tomorrow, said, "You have been here 2 hours". That was untrue, and delivered without an "I'm sorry-we will tend to this so that other guests do not get bitten." We told him that was completely not true, and there was no way we were paying 450 dirham per night to sleep in bed-bug infested beds, and that he needed to give us our passports and cash back immediately. He realized how upset we were at his response and said "Fine, take your money." I said, "You may want to go up there and deal with this so that the next guests do not get bit by those bugs!" He shooed me away with his hand and walked away. DO NOT go there! They don't care and the situation is not going to be resolved anytime soon. They need to be boycotted for this kind of guest treatment.

Like previous reviewers, I am somewhat confused by Lonely Planet giving this hotel as a "Top Pick". Even accounting for the fact that this is a budget hotel, it is really not good and I would recommend that you find someplace better.

The rooms are small. The bathrooms even smaller. The bathroom door is practically seethrough. The bathrooms are so small that you practically have to walk sideways to get from the toilet to the shower.

The rooms and bathroom are not particularly clean and have a funny damp smell. We woke up in the morning with water dripping down the wall.

The tour that the hotel runs, while adequate, does not offer value for money.

Also, I would warn female travelers that if you are unfortunate enough to attract the attention of one of the male staff members, it could get quite annoying for you.

I sincerely hope that the next edition of the lonely planet guide removes this one star hotel from it's 'top pick' list. We stayed here as part of an Intrepid Travel tour. The hotel was fully booked, and there was no opportunity to change rooms. Our room (114) was cramped, with the smell of rising damp and urine infesting one of the twin beds. The other bed left us both with a case of the itches, and we saw multiple cockroaches. The shower water was hot, but the towels provided were very threadbare and grey. The downstairs restaurant area was very dark, and they did not turn on the real lighting until after we'd eaten (the food was vary ordinary fare compared to the rest of our hotels in Morocco). We chose not to eat breakfast here, and there are several cafes in the same block. Avoid this hotel, and our recommendation to Intrepid Travel will be to avoid this hotel as well.

The room was very basic with a tiny bathroom and only one sheet on the bed. We had to ask the front desk for another sheet. i would not recommend this hotel. We had prepaid or we would have left for another hotel.
