Detailed Reviews
Like Mato, a previous reviewer, I took notice of a Lonely Planet guide. The only thing that rung true to their recommendation was the word "cheap". I was not looking for anything fancy and I am NOT a fussy person, but this was the pits. I was given a look at the room prior and it looked really basic, but I thought, "what can you expect for about 15 euro?". Well, for a start, you should be able to expect bedsheets (plural). There was no topsheet and you just had an itchy, low quality blanket to cover you during the night. This would have been so bad, but I was bitten by insects during the night and I tried to consol myself that at least I couldnt hear the mosquitos (because that sound is REALLY annoying). Then it dawned on me - the bites may have been from fleas (although I could see any). Then, because there was no fan (nor of course air-con) I had to leave the window open or die from the heat. For what seemed most of the night their was a woman screaming at someone in Arabic and at the top of her voice. Then there was the smell - a putrid smell from the street wafted into my window and just completed the test on my patience. One night was enough - actually it was too much. The only positive thing I can say is that less than a block away were some nice local restaurants that served wonderful tagines.

So.. I was happy owner of lonely planet guide Morroco- latest review 2013, and they said, that this is cheap opinion, clean, safe..bla bla. And that it has the same owners as Guynemer.
Reality: smelly, old, really not clean, the room they have offered us looked like somebody has been there minutes ago, the bed (double) has a big crater in the middle, very romantic, really.
We came late night, some strange persons from other rooms were looking at us..
really bad.
So when we saw the room, we decided to go somewhere else - - Gunyemer, but that´s another story :D

Before every trip I try to make a reservation for hotels, but once I had an unexpected trip to Casablanca, and I needed a room for one night. In my guidebook I found info about Oued Dahab. It was described like cheap but not that bad.
Anyway I only needed a place to leave my bag for some time and spend some hours sleeping.
I payed, left my bag and went out.
When I got back to the hotel in the evening, I of course noticed everything that I missed when I only arrived there. It was really terrible: old furniture, dirty old bedsheets, no any towels of course; there was nothing, in the room it was nothing except of poor table, chair and bed. So dusty everywhere.
And bathroom! That was the top! Without any door, no hot water. And I found a fat cockroach there! Alive one! It was kinda swimming in the shower. It was sooooooo disgusting!
Though I already gave them money, I took my bag and left this place without any word. Even the idea that it's possible to spend night there was hard to imagine.
And by the way it was not that hard to find another hotel much better and even for less price. I spent night with much comfort in another place.
They ask too much for such a place. And staff don't speak English.
Terrible ..

Arrived here looking to stay for a night having seen it recommended in the Lonely Planet guidebook but had to leave immediately once we saw the room.
Absolutely woeful and shockingly depressing, it was truly uninhabitable. A dark, dirty, dire and disastrously out-dated dive. Avoid it like the plague.

This place was so bad that it is now regarded was the comedy moment of the trip by my travelling companion and I. We stayed there on New Year's Day 2011 - hope not a omen for things to come. I have never stayed anywhere so bad in my life. I stayed on night and I was too frightened to sleep and actually was so pleased to leave in the morning, (6am) I didn't even bother to haggle with the taxi driver who charged me 70dh (nearly as much as it is to stay in this dive to get away). I was happy to pay it as felt he would need to fumigate his taxi seats after we'd been in them;lol.
This was so awful my friend and I checked in and run out again and did some sightseeing and then stayed out - finally ending up drinking at the Hyat (a five star hotel) to compensate for the awful hotel - the place drove us to drink.
Myself and another female traveller arrived off the train to share a twin room. When we went to check in the guy asked us to look at the room....We were speechless but as only there for a day and with suitcases decided to stay. But the actual hotel seems to be a bit of shelter for homeless imigrants and dodgy characters....I half expected to meet Lord Lucan on the staircases or runaway terrorists hiding out. Really shaddy place, where people come to commit suicide or hideout. Although I saw no evidence could also be a hooker hostel as saw an immigrant african woman with a guy who looked like a pimp. Very down at heel place.
When we got back at night we put chairs and tables by the door. I stayed up all night as too frightened to sleep and in the morning had bites where bed bugs had bitten me as I sat on the bed. My travelling companion saw these small creatures crawling around.
Please don't stay here unless you take clothes you can throw away or really skint at end of a trip and just want to be inside somewhere rather than walking around the streets in the dark. And you're streetwise....I am a London chick and so very streetwise. We choose to stay there when we got there was we were two females and thought we were at risk just wondering around city with suitcases but if you have choice don't bother.
People that own this own the art deco hotel around the corner that's a lot nicer....try there instead. Rough Guide and Lonley planet recommend this but fail to state condition, which is how we ended up there.

We were looking for budget, but this was bad. The shared toilet in the hallway was disgusting. The room was in poor repair with pealing paint. Expected the noise and used ear-plugs. On the good side, the shower had hot water, staff was friendly if not particularly helpful. The location was right near the central pedestrian area. My recommendation would be to pony up a few more dollars per night for a better experience.

stumbled on this hotel via LP. Gave this hotel only 3 points...whereas for this great cost/performance ratio you could easily give it 4: 22 € for a double room, shower in room, toilet on floor outside, spacious room and totally clean though room was looking as somebody got killed on the floor (but were only stains from the shower)
Generally...Casablanca was not the most beautiful city I got to admit and this hotel totally serves the purpose to get the casablanca feeling :): Old run down buildings...as the hotel and the rooms I guess have seen better days...still for one or two nights would recommend it! You get what you pay for!
