Central hotel. The hotel is in its own class. This hotel is very comfortable, helpful staff. Sit on the terrace looking over their private gardens. Colonial luxury. The hotel has a long French colonial history and was Eisenhower residence during part of WWII.

Not like the faceless non inspiring international hotel chains, it has a special ambience and feeling of a more relaxed and gentile age. I recommend it for service good food and extremely helpful and pleasant staff

It is very famous, five star hotel in Algiers. Like for ALgerian conditions it is really perfect hotel. Service is very helpful and kind. Rooms are spacious and good equipped. This hotel was place of official, political meeting, you can see it on photos placed in hotel. It is worth to spend some extra money and stay in El-Djazair

Nice building, but that's about the nicest thing about it. Plumbing from 1960, horrid salmon pink bathrooms. Rooms with varying levels of noise from the kitchen fans, the in-house night club, etc... Maids have a habit of barging into rooms without any warning (keep the chain on to avoid it). Safes not working, wardrobes are as old as the hills,...

This is a five star hotel, well located, good point. The reception team needs to get training courses about how to attend clients, they have no respect at all for the customers. . The hotel needs a overall investment in many aspects, but for those which enjoy staying in a museum you will love it. Be carefull with restaurant, you...

This hotel in the middle of historic Aligier, can be described as an Oasis or Casbah if you like, it was built by the Turks of the Osman Empire about 500 years back in time. And from the moment you drive through the gates, greeted by service minded bellboys dressed in traditional North African attire inkl. "the fez".. you really...

Don't even consider this hotel! Room : level European/American/Asian standard 2 or 3 stars. Very far from 5 stars! Staff: very sloopy, slow, ignorant and ARROGANT. Very hard to ask for help even on fluent French. Thursday night 00-05.00 a disco shakes the whole hotel with high tecno music. No warning! Is it a hotel or an entertainment place? Breakfast...

I have not been to the El Djazair since the mid nineties having moved on to the Sofitel Algiers, for me by far the best hotel alternative in Algiers. I am sorry to say that not much has changed. The hotel itself is full of character but has grown quite tired by international and regional standards. Room, carpeting, finish, couches,...

Very pleasant place, with beautiful gardens and very helpful staff. Everything is rather on the expensive side, including the restaurant and breakfast. Extra beds for the children weren't there when we arrived and took exceedingly long to be provided. Same for extra towels.

As most reviews suggest this is an old hotel with a lot of history. The standard is as you would expect with a old historical place that has maintained a 5star status. The room I had was fine, great view of the gardens, the food and drink was expensive and if your not on expenses you may want to go...
