If you are into birds, this is your place to visit or stay. I had heard of the resort before many times but this was my first visit. You can either hang out near the visitor services or hike along some of their trails up higher into the forest. Be sure to prepare for any hikes with good sturdy shoes,...

Río Santiago Nature Reserve Is a great birding place In their different trails you can spot some nice birds like the lovely Cotinga, spectacle Owls, golden hooded tanagers, and about 20 different species of hummingbirds. They a good restaurant and bar service. Several cabins and four rooms they can hold about 20 people at the time.

See my previous review for greater details on facilities. This visit was a day trip with a group led by William Orellano and Katinka Domen of Beaks and Peaks Birding and Adventure Tours. We were not disappointed. Though we encountered rain, the birding along trails, near the dining area, and from within the dining area watching the many mini hummingbird...

We were here in April 2015, during our visit to our daughter who lives in Gracias, Lempira. Super for birding, especially for hummingbirds. But not only birders get a warm welcome, also people like me and my husband, no birders at all get a warm welcome from owner Thierry and his friendly staff.

We stayed one night at Rio Santiago, and the location and the birding was absolutely fantastic. It is a real treat for birders, and the hiking trails are in excellent shape and worth a visit. Alex one of the guys working at Rio Santiago was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the local wildlife.

I and a group of colleagues were at Rio Santiago as part of a Caligo Ventures Honduras birding tour. We stayed at different places in Honduras and this was the poorest of them. Birds were good but there was no other wildlife at all. Our tour leader was Robert Gallardo who was clearly more interested in himself and feeding his...

We are staying at the Pico Bonito Eco Lodge and decided to visit the Rio Santiago resort for the day. The grounds are wonderful and very beautiful... We went there to visit the hummingbirds and the experience lived up to the hype! There were dozens if not hundreds... There was also a large fruiting tree that was a magnet for...
