Stayed in February as part of a group . The resort is certainly unusual being a collection of wooden chalets and cabins on a wooded island set in the Rio Dulce .Access is by boat only . The resort was established some time ago by an ex-pat American and is beginning to show its age . Beware ,not all cabins...

This was my second time staying here on group trips. The place had little changed over six years and that is a good thing. The cabins over the water are atmospheric. It is nice to hear the lapping of the waves from boat traffic on both sides of your cabin. The grounds are pleasant to stroll. The pool is more...

Nice and quiet(mostly) location with views across the lake for breakfast - which is a reasonable buffet. Evening meal in a small, hangar like building with several refectory style tables is home style food. Good but nothing fancy. My snook(?) was tasty. Cheap drinks during happy hour, but, why oh why has the small bar got two large tv screens?...

You have a great river view from your cabin and a very quiet site with and ok outdoor pool. However, the bar and restaurant closes down very early and you can choose between paying the guard for an uncommon visit to the bar or catching a boat to nearby Rio Dulce city. They were great at getting a boat to...

What a beautiful place! We didn't realize it was on an island and that we had to boat in which made for quite a pleasant surprise when we arrived. It's a little slice of paradise. Lovely view, room and breakfast.

I was part of a tour group who after the end of a long day of travel boarded a motor boat to drive some 15 minutes across a big lake to this wonderful island. Wonderful rooms some of them over water rooms, on a small island with swimming in both the pool & the lake. Really good food even though...

This really is quite a place! The bedrooms are little cabins on stilts over the water with great outside decks. We had Hotel and Golfo rooms which were next to each other. The rooms were very simple, but had absolutely everything we needed, including excellent water pressure in the shower! The restaurant was slightly lacking in atmosphere, but the Bar...

We had so much fun. We went here for international trivia night. Catamaran Island Hotel is a beautiful place to watch the sunset. The food was delicious. We had pizza. It was cheesy and delicious. Service was great.

I really enjoyed this small resort, which is just a short boat ride from the town dock. Interesting and attractive place with good facilities for a short stay. In truth it isn't an island but access is only via boat. Very good swimming pool and grounds for taking short walks. The dining room, breakfast area and bar were all very...

The hotel is reached by boat and accommodation is in wooden huts on or near the riverbank. These are fine if a little basic. There is a good pool and great bar and breakfast room. The restaurant is good and the quality of food surprisingly high. One unusual aspect of your stay is that the hotel has its own currency...
