This place will sort out boats to neighbouring countries, essential when you've been to Livingston as the place is surrounded by water, but not an island. The best breakfast in Guatemala will sort out any hangover. Liggin' around the gaff waiting for the evening pizza was how we spent our time there. Cole - cheeky Texan with a thirst to... More

I stayed at Casa de la iguana for a few weeks. The hostel is run by an English guy called Rusty, He is one of the best features of the hostel. Livingston its self tends to be a stopping point for people going from/to Belize or Honduras so you dont tend to find people staying for long periods of time.... More

Wow! After a couple of long days of bus travel, a couple of relaxing days at Casa de la Iguana was exactly what I needed. I spent the day time lying on a white sand beach, and chilling in the waterfalls at Siete Altares. At night I partied and played drinking games back at Casa de la Iguana. The staff... More

We stayed at Casa De La Iguana for a couple for nights. The staff were helpful and friendly and made everyone feel welcome. The family style dinner is delicious (especially the Schnitzel) and if you get the meat options it is relatively affordable for Livingston and I could never finish my plate. The Tours they run are good value and... More

We arrvied in Livingston and our first impression of the hostel was that it was really laid back and friendly. The manager Benji was really great at letting us know what was what. We signed up for the family style meal, which was nice but seems a bit overpriced. After dinner everyone started drinking and partying, which we joined in... More

As we arrived at the hostel. we could feel immediately this totally friendly and relaxed vibe. The first night they had only dorm beds available but we cannot recommend the dorm rooms- very small, no space for backpacks or anything. So we moved into a private room which was even kind of cozy. This is a Party Hostel indeed! Party... More

The hostel is all about partying! The hostel stuff partys all night long, with really loud music and screams around...so sleeping gets difficult! The toilets and bathrooms are dirty, the matreses are super old, the breakfast and dinner are average.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa de la Iguana is a fabulously famous party hostel for fun and friendly happy travellers. It is set in a jungle garden with awesome wooden cabins and dormitories all unique and worth the extra Q for a good nights sleep. We may not be the cheapest in Livingston but we pride ourselves on having handmade lockers in each dorm, comfortable beds, spacious private rooms, superb wifi for Skyping and calls home, great social staff and fantastic fun most evenings, especially when a lively Happy Hour involved. There is fantastic free wifi. the best in Livingston actually, as well as an international book exchange. We also arrange tours to Belize, La Ceiba, Siete Altares, Playa Blanca and Rio Dulce and recently added, our own very exciting Tiger Cave trip and Fishing (eat what you catch). Spanish Lessons available too. We have a great reputation for our parties but it happens when we have a great bunch of people too! Come see us soon, meet other like-minded free spirits. ... more   less
