I really wrestled with where to spend the second half of our weeklong stay in Guatemala after four nights in Antigua: Hotel Atitlan or Casa Palopo (at one point I had reservations at both). Ultimately, I chose Hotel Atitlan, despite the mixed reviews here, due to its expansive grounds, larger swimming pool, and the look of the Master Suite room...

What a beautiful place. Rooms were lovely and looked out onto the lake and 3 volcanoes. Grounds were manicured almost like an English garden and were absolutely beautiful. There were many walking trails to view the grounds. Make sure and take a boat ride on the lake.

Super situation: gardens and lake views as great as everyone says. Rooms a good size with nice balconies and really stunning views across the lake. Clean. A lot of religious ornaments - everywhere - we found hotel a bit dour. We found the food ok but nothing very special. The staff were attentive though not enormously friendly. The hotel seemed...

The outstanding part of staying at this hotel is the manicured, lush, exquisitely cared for gardens. There are multiple varieties of flowers, topiaries and greenery at every turn. There are tables to sit at within various spaces in the gardens to just sit and enjoy. In case you would like some entertainment, there are parrots which will greet you with...

Fell in love with Guatemala during our stay at Hotel Atitlan. The beautiful gardens, amazing views of the lake and volcanos, and the gracious staff made our stay so lovely. The rooms were very comfortable with big sliding doors opening to the gardens and fantastic huge parrots that swooped in and out of the trees. Great price for comfortable lodging...

We stayed in room 300 which is a corner suite. We were very happy with the size, cleanliness, and decoration of our suite. Well kept manicured lawn and garden, and birds (caged parrots/peacocks, and wild bird) adorned the property. Food from the restaurant was on the better side, I would say 7.5/10. The wait staff are ok, but very opportunistic,...

hotel, from the architectural point of view, beautiful, but not very clean, poor services (no minibar, air conditioning, no fan, no courtesy product) Poor breakfast and bad, dinner paid more than a dinner in Italy! The administrative staff and very rude! We do not recommend it

Stayed 2 nights with Caravan tour. Agree with what everybody says - beautiful view, the lake, the volcano, the gardens. Design of hotel matches the beauty of the area. Strangely bathrooms are rather outdated and sure could use an upgrade. As mentioned by many people food is so-so. View from restaurant helps to tolerate it :) Unfortunately, view toward lake...

The hotel is fantastic for its view of the lake and the gardens in which it is set. The hotel itself is good, but missed a couple of touches that we had in even the simplest hotels we stayed, such as bottled water in the rooms. The staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant okay. You can spend...

I have been to a lot of beautiful places in gorgeous settings, and Hotel Atitlan is right up there. The grounds are spectacular, with well-tended, lush gardens full of flowers and birds such as mawcaws. The hotel is right on the lake, with good views from our room balcony. Small pool but nice area to sit and enjoy the lake....
