I couldn't decide where to stay at the lake...in Pana town? At a beautiful but remote location on the lake or at Jennas. I'm so happy I chose Jennas! Pana town is ugly and congested and the other lake spots are remote or inconvenient. If you are looking to do nothing but chill they are good choices. Jenna's was a perfect blend of beautiful views and very accommodating staff including Jenna herself. It was so easy to get to town and the tuk tuks were not a problem at all. Yes, it is very cold at night so I chose to shower when the room wasn't so cold during daylight. The rooms could definitely use a freshen up with some new furniture and linens to spruce it up etc. but I just considered it "authentic." Last thing to note is the amount of stairs....it is a very challenging hike if you stay in a yurt at the bottom but luckily I was at the top (Quetzel) and still found myself winded a few times. Overall, I really enjoyed my time there and had a wonderful experience!…
I would love to give this place a great review but I can’t. As other reviewers have stated — Cleanliness is an issue. Phone reception is very weak. Hot water is quite fickle. Food is overpriced. Ok fine; it’s a beautiful location. But the owner. Check in was terrible. I booked with Travelocity and paid a deposit. I had a receipt. Nevertheless — Jenna (the owner) repeatedly demanded I pay the full price. Flustered, I finally was able to get in touch with someone from Travelocity. He insisted she was wrong. She talked over him the entire time and didn’t let him say a word. I don’t know whether he hung up or the phone just cut out, but he disappeared. He then sent me a message via the app assuring me I had paid. This went on and on. I offered to just leave. She didn’t take that option; of course not – she wanted the money. Finally she agreed to just charge me what I was -supposed- to be paying. But THEN, she added a $5 charge to use her credit card system. Uggg. This place has been around for ages. She’s listed on Travelocity. If she has problems with Travelocity, she should drop them or sort out her issues. As it was, her unprofessional behavior discolored our entire stay. Note for those who have never visited Lake Atitlan; The Lake is surrounded by numerous villages and many many exceptional Airbnb’s. Pana is the launch point for the lake. Grab a water taxi and stay someplace exceptional …and for less money.…
The property has beautiful views and this covers many downsides. But still I think it worthy to mention that the property is not well maintained. The pool is dirty. The furnuture is very old and certain things are broken, like lamps, etc. We stayed in Cayman room and in the evening is very cold. Its not heated. The hot water is a disaster. I couldnt take a normal shower in a week, because the faucet is not regulated properly, its either hot either very cold water. So i had to take bath every time. Food that is offered at the retaurant on site is mediocre and overpriced. The property has no access to the lake, so if you want to swim you have to look for other options. And they are not easy to find because public beaches in the area are dirty. But the lake itself is nice and the water is clean and warm due to its termal origin.…
We stayed at Jenna's for three nights in December 2022. The view from the room was beautiful and the room itself well appointed with a soaker tub and king bed. It did get a little chilly in the evening but that is to be expected given the yurt style of the rooms. Food and service at the BnB bar and restaurant were both excellent and it was never busy. The location is not ideal as it is slightly out of town but that also means further away from the noise of Panajachal. This is a great spot to stay for a few nights though if I had more time at Atitlan, I would have moved around the lake some. This is lovely and unique place to stay.
Spent two nights at the B&B. Arrived around 8:00 PM due to traffic, but fortunately was able to get something to eat at the restaurant before they closed up. The view was very interesting from my room, had a nice view of the volcano across the lake. Fortunately, I was located near the top of the hill, so didn't have to go to far up and down the B&B grounds. Overall it was a nice stay.
What a unique and beautiful experience! We came here from Antigua (would not recommend driving through the night as it's foggy and road visibility is very low). We stayed in one of the yurts that were a bit higher up which had a view of the lake. Jenna was so friendly throughout the entire process, from reservations to greeting us there and hanging out with us at breakfast. The staff here is so helpful to make sure to keep the property clean. The breakfast was so yummy, it feels very home-ly with you being able to go into the kitchen to grab things. Just note, this is not on the main strip of hotels in Pana, you will have to take a tuktuk which will lead you up a hill (its a 2min drive from the downtown Pana area). The hotel is helpful to call a tuktuk for you. Amazing experience! Get a hotel higher up for the view, but just noting its a lot of steps to walk to the restaurant and up/down. Worth if for the balcony views for sure!…
To call this place the best hotel in Pana is very misleading. First, the view is absolutely breathtaking. The staff were very kind and I truly believe did their best according to the resources they have. For example, the owner needs to purchase new towels and bedding. The towels and sheets are very old, which means even the best laundry attempt simply will not suffice. Our bedding wasn't just dirty, it was filthy. As were our towels. The owner had an opportunity to make things right by offering a concession on our additional but only offered an apology. Instead of making an actionable effort. As a business owner myself, there is always something you can offer when your service is simply not up to standard. During covid times or anytime, hygiene and cleanliness is imperative. Very disappointing.…
As a solo female traveler I was looking for a place with charm and character plus an onsite restaurant and helpful staff. Jenna’s totally fit the bill: it’s cozy and friendly with a relaxed open air bar and a restaurant. It’s far enough from the town of Pana to feel like a jungle hideaway but it’s easy to get into town and to other lakeside towns from here. The service is excellent and the views are to die for. The English-speaking owner, Jenna, is a wonderful hostess and a great resource for tips on things to do in the area.
Such a great place to stay for 4 nights. Really easy to grab a tuk tuk and explore Pana or take a ferry and check out the other lake towns. Finding hiking trails is easy on all trails app. Jenna was so helpful with figuring out our day to day itinerary and getting the lay of the land correct from the start of the trip. Beautiful time spent with my husband and our friends- recommend solo travelers, couples and friend groups! Jenna is awesome! The pictures on the site are great, but they still dont do the beautiful views any justice. Watching sunrise was probably my favorite thing to do here- you will not regret it!
I cannot rave enough about the beautiful location, the stunning view of Lake Atitlan, the Yurt we stayed in, the lovely staff, and Jenna herself. Jenna went above and beyond for us and made us feel very welcome. We had a loose idea of what we wanted to do at Lake Atitlan and Jenna sat down with us while we had our delicious traditional Guatemalan breakfast, and gave us recommendations and suggestions on how to organize our day to get the most out of it. Jenna also personally called one of the tuktuk drivers who gave us 4 hours of his time to drive us around to different view points, and gave us a tour in San Antonio and Santa Catarina. The staff were also extremely lovely and helpful despite the language barrier. The entire location was lovely to walk around to take in the lush surrounding forest, and beautiful tropical plants growing within the establishment. I would absolutely come back here and recommend this place to anyone staying in Lake Atitlan!…
