This lovely little courtyard hotel is not in the best neighborhood, but has the best hospitality. I was here for 3 nonconsecutive days, each time I came back they greeted me like an old friend and had hot chocolate for me. The best Guatemalan chocolate. The first day there, the desk person mistakenly collected an extra day rent. The owner...

I just got home after spending a week in Guatemala City with Patch Adams and a group of clowns ... we went all over visiting hospitals, orphanages, treatment centers, etc. Due to the size of our group, we reserved the entire inn. From the very start, I felt like I was coming home. I arrived from the airport at lunch...

This inn was amazingly welcoming and warm throughout the entirety of my visit. Every meal was delicious and hand-crafted. All the staff members were extremely friendly. I don't know what inn is got the one rating spot above this one, but this place definitely deserves some incredible props.

This is one of the most amazing hotels I have ever stayed. "Hotel" doesn't fit the environment- it is a home, a gathering place, a retreat, a cultural gem. I went with a group of about 30 people on a clowning trip with Patch Adams for 10 days, and we all felt so comfortable and safe: if you are looking...

We stayed here for one night prior to catching a flight home. It's a very quaint, small guest house, very atmospheric and seems to have been preserved just as it would have been as a family home over a hundred years ago. The front door is permanently locked and guests must ring the bell to enter - very reassuring in...

I returned to stay at this lovely homely hotel yet again. I have always received excellent service and this visit was no exception. The hotel has a family atmosphere and a small kitchen too. They can also advise about what to do, where to go and even organise tours or transport for you. It is centrally located and the owners...

Posada Belen is a very charming hotel that feels like a retreat from the city. The staff are very kind and accommodating. There did not seem to be many other breakfast options nearby, so we ended up eating our breakfasts at Posada Belen. While the food is good, it is definitely overpriced compared to other similarly-priced hotels in Guatemala. I...

Stayed here a few days at the start of my G trip. Some reviewers have described it as as "boutique" hotel, which it is not. It is however a small, safe hotel with a super-friendly and super-helpful staff. Absolutely nothing was too much much trouble for them and, unless you want a luxury hotel, I would recommend it without hesitation.

My wife and I stayed for two nights in early January (2012) and again for one night a month later, when we were winding up our travels. (The woman I took to be the principal owner, Francesca Sanchinelli, had kindly agreed to let us store a bag with her during our month away from the city.) Posada Belen is probably...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Posada Belen is located in a fine colonial style home built in 1873 converted into an intimate Museum Inn, centrally located in a quiet street of the historical center of Guatemala City about 3 miles north from the airport (10-15 Minutes), run by the same family since opened in 1972 to international tourism. Posada Belen was slowly transformed from a colonial style home into a very special inn. Highly recommended in most important travel guides and by former guests/friends, with over 300 authentic registered Mayan artifacts on display as well as unique antique handicrafts plus many primitive paintings makes Posada Belen a true Museum, but most of all we are a clean, safe, centrally located, quiet, moderately priced, with good beds, great food, friendly relaxed atmosphere, and authentic HOME to start, end or organize your journey in Guatemala. We are conveniently located to visit any of the museums in Guatemala city, walk to the relief map, national palace, central market (lowest prices in the country for handcrafts), visit the pre classic Mayan ruins and museum of Kaminal Juyu, dozens of monumental churches , We are blocks away from the bus stations to Tikal, Xela, Antigua, Coban, Chiquimula, Rio Dulce. Etc. Shuttles are also available from the inn door. Guided walking City tour is available, Guatemala city is important if you really want to understand our culture and its history. We will be happy to help you with your itinerary and up to date travel and safety information. The Posada Belen is especially safe for women traveling alone. We have a pick up service available at any hour of day or night to all persons who will like to have a friendly and safe welcome into Guatemala's airport for about the same price as a taxi (depending on the arrival time from $10 to $15), we know we are not for everybody, our clients are usually smart people with lots of travel experience, who are looking for comfortably way to enjoy true Guatemalan culture and also likes to stay in a place with character. ... more   less
