The Mayan Inn was part of our tour package. Unfortunately I broke my ankle the first day in Guatemala making it difficult to get to my room. The room was spacious enough but was too cold for my comfort. Nearly every hour during the night I pressed the bell for them to relight the fireplace our only source of heat...

The Inn was "built" in the 1930's but the doors, the furniture and many of the architectural features would indicate that the original building (a convent) is indeed quite a bit older. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with antique and old furniture. Plumbing is very old and high quality and charming. The courtyards are a dream come true...

My husband and ten-year old daughter loved our special evening in this beautiful hotel. We thought the food was delicious. In fact, we had our Thanksgiving Dinner in the hotel's dining room. It is a simple menu, yes, and the coffee is a bit weak, but the bread and meat and vegetables and sauces were fresh and prepared with care....

We stayed here as part of a tour group. The place is lovely, beautiful gardens. A lovely wood fire in our room was really great The drawback was the food. The town itself virtually closed at sunset so we were really at the mercy of the hotel. The staff are really nice and we were "assigned" our servant. If you...

If you have a choice, make sure to request room 16. Overall this hotel is a very enjoyable place to stay. Very comfortable and great service. We enjoyed two nights and were in Chichi for November 1-3. This is not at all well publicized, but All Saints Day in chichi is is spectacular. the restaurant at the inn is pretty...

It's location, it's attentive staff and beautiful public areas were the highlights of the Mayan Inn. The accomodations and the food did leave something to be desired. Hotel staff were very welcoming, although I will say that it was a bit awkward being assigned a "servant" who was responsible for everything from the moment you arrive and he carries your...

We spent one night in the Hotel Museo Mayan Inn in Chichcicastenango in order to be in town for early experience of the market the next day. The antique filled room, wool blankets, wood burning fireplace and excellent shower made the higher price of this hotel seem well worth it. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant as the...

We stayed at the Mayan Inn on Saturday night. he hotel was a wonderful experience, very charming and quaint. The staff at the reception desk was very welcoming and efficient. A personal attendant was assigned to us who took our bags to the room, waited our table, and took care of any of our other requests. The room was delightful;...

We stayed in the Mayan Inn for one night, Saturday night, so that we could be in Chichicastenango to get the experience of the Sunday market. The hotel is wonderful. Stayed for one night on market day during my tour. Friendly and helpful staff. Room has a very traditional and antique feel, was clean and made very cosy by lighting the log fire and bringing in a couple of drinks from the bar. Nice courtyard with parrots and macaws on show. Reception very helpful in arranging some transport to atitlan...

The Mayan Inn opened its doors back in 1932, it was designed from the beginning to be a hotel museum by it's founder Mr. Alfred S. Clark, who patiently started this magnificent collection of Spanish colonial antiques collecting every door, table, chair, bed, chest, trunk, etc. That are today part of the decorations of this magnificent hotel. The Mayan Inn's private collection of paintings are priceless with original master pieces from Humberto Garavito, Alfredo Galvez, Antonio Tejeda, Carmen Pettersen, among others. The hotel is located in the heart of Chichicastenango with in walking distance of the market, church and cemetery. ... more   less
