I stayed at Back-A-Bush because I needed to get away from town for awhile. I am an expat living in nearby Punta Gorda which, although entertaining, is not as calm as the villages. I did not know what to expect. Upon arrival, I was shown to a very nice, clean and cozy room. Floor fan, clean bed, bedside table. I...

If youre looking for 5-star accomodation with bellboys, you're in the wrong place. But if what you wanted was a bit of authentic southern Belize, with good food, good conversation, and a lovely setting? You cant do much better.

A must stay place on your trip to Belize. Beautiful location, friendly smiles, and very helpful to all types of travelers. Get there by going to Punta Gorda by boat from Livingston or Puerto Barrios, or go on the James Busline from Belize City.

We stayed here in a group of 6. The rooms were rustic but very comfortable. Elsbeth is a great hostess, and her cooking is out of this world. She helped us to organise a tour to tiger cave with a local guide. Much cheaper then going to the 'tourist caves' like ATM, and a lot of fun (you will get...

We had a few wonderful days with Elsbeth at 22 acre Back a Bush. We had the pleasant cabin with balcony with a jungle feel. Wonderful meals(communal eating) all done by Elsbeth with vegetarian and gluten free no problem. A basic, farm style place with chickens, ducks, dogs and cats wandering all around you as you hang in your hammock....

Thankyou Elsbeth for a wonderful time. We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful time. The simple accommodation: the "swanky cabana" ,is authentic and all you need. The bird watching from bed is great! . It helps to be an animal lover as there are many hens and ducks, cats and dogs which all adds to the ambiance; previous...

Back-a-bush is a welcome escape from the tourist trail. Elsbeth is the perfect host and a wonderful cook. Her low impact lifestyle, love of her animals and nature shine through. She can arrange inexpensive but great value tours to local sites including the tiger cave with experienced local guides. Also it is easy to walk to sites in the nearby...

My friend and me found this wonderful place by accident. First we just wanted to stay for one night, but every day we sad "one more night";) we truly didn't want to leave anymore. First we wanted to stay just for one night. At the end we stayed three and we would stay longer if we would have the time. The farm is located in the heart of the mayan culture and beautiful nature. Dogs, cats and ducks say good night to eachother so it's peace on earth! Elsbeth is a charming person who...

“The cabin at the back is just wonderful. You do hear and see nature all around you!”
HouseofRoseWinery, 18 Mar 2015 | Read review
“The small cabins by the house is perfect for a solo or double stay... these also have in-room internet and is close to the showers, bathroom and kitchen/office. The bigger cabin down the jungle gives more privacy and is perfect for groups up to 5. Wi-Fi doesn't reach here (but of course you can use it in the outside living room by the main house) and it has it's own bathroom with hot showers and I nice porch with jungle view.”

“There is a new cabana in the back that would be perfect for 4 people or a family.”

“1 private room with a double bed, or a bunk house with 6-7 beds. Either way, beds are comfy and it was the first time I 'slept' in until 8am, the curtains they have keep the rooms pretty dark/cool. Also - the 'fitness centre' is a do-it-yourself - walk to Lubaantun, or hike through the farm grounds, hike to caves with Miguel, return to Back-a-Bush, finished off by a swim in the Colubia River!!!”
