La milpa has it all, great location, mystical old maya city which is still owned by the jungle, a lot of wildlife, we saw spider and howler monkeys, perfect birding spot and lovely cottages to spend the nights in. The only thing we were less happy about was the food, not so tastefull. La milpa is a must stay location...

We stayed here for two exciting nights and wish we could have done more. There was so much to see. We just spent the days and nights walking around on trails and trying to find wildlife. We did two night tours (the walk and drive) and had so much fun on both. Our walk was very fruitful, but we were...

We stayed at La Milpa as part of a bird photography trip. Loved the thatched roofed rooms. They were basic, but clean and comfortable. The birds and monkeys were plentiful, the walk to the Mayan ruins was enjoyable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We asked Melvis to take us on a night walk to see what critters...

We spent four night at La Milpa and enjoyed every minute. The facilities are very comfortable, well-maintained, and very clean. It is so peaceful there you can hear all the birds chirp and the howler monkey roaring in the distance. The food is plentiful and nicely prepared. The breakfast fruit displays are truly something to admire - a different one...

We rented a car and drove to La Milpa. The road was better than expected, lots of unpaved sections after Orange walk but well graded. The lodge facilities were very nice, clean and comfortable. The food was good, huge portions. We loved the guide, Melvis, he is a good bird watcher and nice person all around.

Nice educational location to take the kids. Not a luxury spot but the environment is awesome. Great value and delicious home cooked food, Eco friendly and low budget. The kids went on a class trip and everyone had fun. The guides are trained and knowledgeable and enhanced the experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were amazingly kind and...

It takes some time to travel out and reach the field station, but I can assure you that it is worth it! Once you get to the field station, you are immediately at peace in your surroundings. It is quiet, the only sounds are of nature coming through. The beds are very comfortable, the food AMAZING, and the nature activities...

When my wife and I travel, we’re willing to sacrifice niceties to stay at places that are remote and offer great wildlife sighting opportunities. The La Milpa Field Station of the Rio Bravo Preserve is about as remote as you can get in a country the size of Belize, and from what we had read before our stay, we expected...

We were so glad to have visited La Milpa Field Station. I planned about 8 months in advance by email, which went smoothly. I travelled with my husband and 2 kids. We returned the rental car we'd had at the airport and were met by Melvis, who arrived 20 minutes early and found me by the rental kiosk. I think...
