We are so happy that we selected Pook's Hill for two nights. It was an awesome and memorable experience. Here are our highlights:

Had decided on this lodge after seeing some bird watching trip reports. Vicki runs this lodge with a lot of passion. Adrian picked up up from La Milpa. The location is in the forest with cabanas. We had all our meals and Vicki joined us...More
We stayed at Pook's Hill for three nights as part of a birding tour of Belize. Walks around the premises (which featured its own Mayan ruin -- like every place we stayed in Belize) afforded good looks at a wide variety of birds, but most...More
This is fantastic place to stay. We stayed in one of the Bird Cobana's, which we accessed via a bridge and a raised wooden walkway. The cobanas had a large decking area where you could relax outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of the...More

At Pooks Hill: Ceiling fans, yes. Air conditioning, no. I think you'll come to appreciate that when the howler monkeys go berserk at 3 a.m. (Hey, it is an experience!) and the night birds and other animals are on the move. It is an aural experience that would be missed with the racket of AC!
I can't speak to the Pooks Hill weather in July, although last year in Belize it was very hot and humid in general. The natural insulation of the thatch roof and the ceiling fans should provide comfort enough.
Just an aside, in the year we have lived here on Ambergris Caye, we have never used the air conditioning and there have been some exceptionally hot days with still air. Ceiling fans, on the other hand, are never off, it seems.
