On a recent trip to Belize to scout out the area as a potential site for college student study abroad opportunities, two colleagues and I stayed at Monkey Bay. Matt and Marga Miller, the owners and caretakers of the wildlife sanctuary, picked us up at the airport and provided transportation for us through the week long stay. Monkey Bay is... More

I have stayed at Monkey Bay two years in a row on a service project. The food is amazing, the staff are dedicated and very kind and professional. The area has been transformed to be a beautiful eco-friendly place to experience Belize. The bedrooms are all very humble and simple, but they are clean and comfortable. Monkey Bay is a... More

This was an excellent option for our family since we wanted to trail the Ruta Maya River Challenge, visit the Belize Bird Rescue Centre, Guanacaste Park and visit the Zoo. THis was a great location and the kids enjoyed it.

Stayed here for two nights as a single traveller. Fiona the manager and Matt the owner and family were lovely to me, taking me along to the zoo, and looking after me when I was sick and lending me a charger when I forgot mine! Room was comfortable, had fan, desk and big bed, and the site was good too.... More

I had the honor and privileged of meeting Matthew Miller the founder of Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. He and his wife are early pioneers in ecology and environmental studies determined to protect their wildlife sanctuary along the highway to Belmopan and Sibun river in Belize. As a not-for-profit education and training center Monkey Bay is well known for its early... More

Matthew could not have been nicer to our kids - they are still talking about the animals a year later. Excellent adventure, even though they had flown all night. Such kindhearted people - even returned them to the Savanna Guest House afterward.

More for group and students, we've been there as individual during the low season. We and the little wood house, the most beautiful room of the resort. The room was not so clean (dead frog and a lot of ants for example), I think it was the room was not used too much on that time. They should may be... More

My colleague and I accompanied 14 college students to Belize for two-weeks. MBS seemed conveniently located to a few things we were interested in doing (Community Baboon Sanctuary, Belmopan, and the Belize Zoo), so we arranged to stay at MBS a few days. Once you added up costs, including meals and programs, we were pushing the limits of our budget.... More

This is an amazing place to stay while doing research, community service, or exploration of Belize. They can arrange for any experience that you can dream up; the food is great; the personnel are accommodating and amazing. Accommodations range from basic to comfortable, but all are very clean, comfortable, and bug-free. The focus is on sustainable living featuring recycling, composting,... More

From the outside Monkey bay just appears to be a campsite, but on the inside its a very special place. The staff are fantastic-very kind, welcoming, and curious to learn from you. They want you to enjoy your experience and do their best to ensure an amazing time. When reading reviews about the food, I had to try it out... More
