For lodging in the immediate area, you're limited to Monkey Bay, the Tropical Education Center, and rooms at the nearby Cheers or Amigo's restaurants (no thank you). We appreciate and are willing to pay a modest increase for ambiance, so we booked at Monkey Bay for four nights. The grounds are just okay, ditto with the rooms. Meals were good,...

Camped here for the night. Good place, great communications, lovely staff, but expensive. Had dinner which was well cooked and plenty of, again good staff. But the camping price seemed high for what we got. Hoping the money goes to conservation.

When I went for a sleep away expedition, they made me feel welcome, at home, and comfortable. We through rocks at the coconut trees to get the coconuts down, we picked fresh mangos from the mango trees, hung out in the hammocks, ate delicious food, and had a really fun time!

Wow what a place! We needed somewhere to stay the night so we were close to Belize zoo. We pulled in off the main highway into this haven. We were greater by iguanas and very knowledgable staff who not only showed us to our room but have is a tour of the whole sight. The room was simple but perfect...

This was an awesome little excursion. We purchased it in port and ended up going with another couple from another ship. The four of us had a great time together. The guide was able to call the monkeys down out of the tree and could even get the alpha male howling at us. So cool to see them out in...

I have used Monkey Bay now over a dozen times, as a basis for a field course that I teach, as a site for research, and as a family holiday anchor point. It is a wonderful and safe environment. If you are looking for a central point from which to explore or do work in Belize, I would highly recommend...

We have new forever friends and we are so grateful for their hospitality and support during our summer of service in Belize. We stayed at Monkey Bay for a night just as a stop off to break up our journey. We were pleasantly surprised by everything really! We were put in the dorm room, as they realised we had 3 little kids and perhaps going to the bathroom outside would not be ideal, they offered us this room which had a bathroom...

Had a super stay at Monkey Bay. This place is peaceful and quiet. A nice getaway and the grounds are maintained and very nice. Fiona is an excellent hostess and efficient office manager. Enjoyed talking with Marga and Matt about the history and Belize Study Abroad programs being offered. They are both a wealth of information on Belize, eco tourism...
