A lot of people note in their reviews that this resort is pretty far from San Pedro. It's not, really - it's just that you have to drive slowly on the main road. But San Pedro was a bit too hectic for me, so the distance is a blessing, not a detraction. Besides, the cafe across the street is reasonably priced and very good for breakfast, the food court across the street is very good, and you can rent a golf cart to head toward San Pedro if you want more options. Ultimately, I had no complaints about he location. The resort amenities are more than adequate. The pool is a bit small and oddly shaped, but also kind of fun. We enjoyed it. Another guest told us that we were permitted to use the Coco Beach Resort pool so we took his word for it. If that's the case, then staying at Belizean Shores is a great bargain, because the Coco Beach pool is fantastic. They might crack down on this when the Wyndham opens up, but you can easily walk to Coco Beach in 2-3 minutes. Anyway, nobody asked us if we were staying at Coco Beach or kicked us out. We had one of the loft rooms, which is more like an apartment. The rooms are very nice and having the kitchen on hand is convenient. I would say that the couches probably need to be replaced; they're a bit worn. Otherwise, I thought the rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The bed in the larger bedroom was quite nice. I did notice a good number of ants, particularly in the bathroom, but you're in the tropics; deal with it. The grounds are very well maintained, actually immaculate. I don't know that I've ever seen a harder working grounds crew at a resort. The food from Coco Beach was pretty good. Three of us got the cheeseburgers for lunch one day and they were delicious. Unfortunately, our plans for snorkeling were scuttled, but the dive shop on the pier is convenient. We decided to skip Secret Beach because we were going to go on a Sunday and the reviews all said to avoid it on Sundays because of the crowds. I would say that the one down side is the beach. The simple fact is that you're not going to use the beach at this resort, or anywhere else on this side of the Caye, because the sargassum is just too intense. You will read that the sargassum is seasonal, but the locals admit it is now year-round. The water near the shore is a putrid brown. Because the Wyndham next door is not complete, nobody is cleaning up their sargassum and it reeks. If the wind is blowing in the right direction at either Belizean Shores or Coco Beach you catch the stench. It's bad. Really bad. The reason to go to Ambergris at all is to snorkel and dive, which unfortunately we were unable to do on this trip. If you're not going for that, honestly, just go to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. The unfortunate fact is that the beaches here are ruined by the sargassum. This is NOT the resort's fault. The grounds crew worked very hard to keep the sargassum cleaned up and both here and at Coco Beach they did an excellent job. They just have a never ending and thankless task. One last observation - the price for the shuttle seems a little steep. It's convenient and the drivers were very friendly. I just think they could knock down the price a bit per person. But that would be my only complaint about this resort. Otherwise, I recommend staying here without reservation.…
Had a great time well maintained relatively inexpensive easy location the food. People were super friendly transportation to and from the airport to the resort as well as accommodations state didn't staff and housekeeping maintenance were all top notch
We arrived pretty late due to a fiasco at the airport but upon our late arrival, a groundskeeper met us as we pulled up into our golf cart and had our keys ready for us. We were STARVING so we went across the road directly from entrance to resort to The Tipsy Lobster and the owner was so welcoming! We had an upper level pool view room and it was spacious. Fresh flowers on arrival, very clean! The pool was amazing, the bartender made amazing Pina coladas. The women in the office were always nice and super responsive through WhatsApp whenever we had a question/need. Resort is comfortable, beautiful pool!
Great service , clean rooms , quiet area away from downtown. clean beach. Great pool and access to the Coco beach place too. Friendly staff, volleyball court. Covered parking "easy " access to secret beach, some pot holes in road to watch for.......
My sister and I booked five nights in a poolside upstairs room. First, the space was huge with a large living room, dining room and kitchen. The master bedroom had a door that lead into the bathroom that was convenient. The upstairs loft had two twin beds and a sofa bed. The outside patio had a great view of the pool and beach. It had a nice table and chairs outside and hooks to hang towels and swim wear to dry. I loved the pool-lovely design and very relaxing. It had lounge chairs in the water and two gazebos. The beach unfortunately had a ton of seaweed but that is happening almost everywhere so we were not surprised. It is north of the main town but on average took around 10-15 minutes via golf cart depending on where you were headed. It also only took 15 minutes to get to Secret Beach. You definitely want to have a golf cart for the entirety of your trip. We booked a sunset cruise with the company that’s off their dock, Tuff N Nuff. They do other tours as well. The sunset cruise was great! There’s a food court like area directly across and both my sister and I had one of our best meals of the entire trip there! Delicious and convenient. We ordered in room dining our first night as we arrived late and it was the only time. We both hated our food and it was ridiculously expensive for how awful it was. I would definitely stay there again!…
Overall, I highly recommend Belizean Shores. It being our first trip to Belize, the hotel was a great first impression! STAFF The staff is so genuinely nice and super accommodating. From helping us book transportation from the airport to renting the golf cart to get around the island - they have surpassed our expectations. We were even personally greeted as soon as we got to the resort and received complimentary drinks which was great. LOCATION While a short drive away from the busy downtown, the resort is in a great location if you want to relax. Great restaurants across the street and nearby and about a 30 min golf cart drive to Secret Beach (highly recommend). RESORT The pool and the grounds are beautiful. The pool bar is one of the nicest I’ve seen and while not super modern (which I actually prefer) the resort and rooms really give you more of an authentic Belizean vibe. Plus AC is always nice. We were a couple and had a suite with ocean view which we loved! So relaxing and it was nice to have a kitchen if we wanted to cook. The resort also offers excursion bookings right from the dock which is super convenient. We last minute walked over one morning thinking everything was booked for the day and got lucky with a few cancellations and 10 minutes later we’re on a catamaran! TUff Enuff tours was amazing. We booked the catamaran snorkeling with a stop over at Caye Calker and could not say enough nice things about the tour. Our guides Dre and Sherry were amazing and really made this our best day on the trip. Dre was super knowledgeable and educated us on the island and Sherry made us fresh shrimp ceviche which is probably one of the best I’ve ever had! Overall, we had an amazing time at Belizean Shores and will definitely be back!…
I liked being a 20 minute drive from San Pedro. Room, pool and grounds were nice. But this is a “little sister” resort to others in the area and it is under staffed, without a restaurant on site and needs more focus on actually enhancing the guests experience. We had a lovely balcony but breakfast came from sister resort cold and in styrofoam containers - 3 days in a row. Bar tenders at lovely pool were not family friendly- guess if your aren’t buying drinks they can’t be bothered to smile or take pictures. Front office was tiny, over worked and under resourced. Priced as true guest-focused resort but that’s not the experience
We stayed 8 days and had a wonderful time. The entire staff is very friendly and to be honest you don’t even know they are there it’s effortless. The room was very clean and any requests were taken care of expeditiously. This was my 3rd time at Belizean Shores and can’t wait to return it has the old Belize feel that is lost at other resorts. And keep an eye out for the resident kiskadee birds they’re so beautiful.
This resort was wonderful. As a family of 4 with 2 teens, the room was perfect (one on the couch and one upstairs in the loft). Fold out couch is what you would expect in terms of comfort, but they're teens. Everything was beautifully maintained and clean, the service was great, and when my husband had a medical emergency during an excursion and we had to leave days early, they refunded the nights we didn't use. I don't know if that would have happened at a US resort. They were kind and helpful, the food at the bar was good, the food across the street was good, and our excursions were just a short walk to the dock. Once we booked with them, they handled the rest of our reservations (including COVID testing and flights to the island) for free. We'll definitely be going back.
Upon booking the staff reached out to us to assist us with our stay. We really appreciated this service with our busy work schedules. They scheduled our flights from Belize City to San Pedro, provided transportation from San Pedro airport to Belizean Shores (small fee), and our COIVD test for returning to the US. We booked a golf cart for the week which was ready at the resort when we arrived. The staff are very friendly and are available via WhatsApp which was awesome if we needed anything. Tuff e Nuff tour/activity center is located on the dock - very convenient for booking adventures and most depart right there. There is no restaurant on property but room service which was very good, inexpensive and delivered timely is available along with restaurants at a sister property 2 doors down the beach. There are a couple of places to get food across from the resort, all good food and outdoor eating. The pool offers options with lounges, umbrellas, tables and chairs, cushion loungers in the water and a swim up bar. Delicious drinks! This was my third time staying at the Belizean Shores and we are planning to return summer 2022. Great service, condos are spacious, clean and have kitchens, on-site security. The property is well maintained. This is a family friendly resort…
