Great place to stay. Staff is excellent. The pool is right on the beach and I recommend getting massages. The dive shop is also great with a variety of tours to organize for you. Take a snorkel trip and a trip to the main island to go cave tubing and ziplining. Both are well worth it.
Staying near by came for lunch...their fish and chips was fresh fresh fresh!! Not greasy amd the view is unbelizeable! Staff was very nice and attentive amd accommodating they even offered their pool and chaise lounge to relax after lunch.
Portofino was a relaxing stay off the beach a few miles from town. We were welcomed by amazing hostesses, bar tenders, and waiters during our stay. I highly recommend getting to know the staff. They are fabulous!
This is a small resort with a very good staff and a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. They have a dive shop and boat on-site. The restaurant is awesome with such delicacies as stone crab claws and grouper. They also have the best burger and fries we have had in a long time. WE actually had it for 3 lunches in a row. The staff at the resort and restaurant are great. They were very helpful and fun to hang out with. This was our 3rd trip to Ambergris Caye and we liked this resort the best. The room was great and very spacious. You won't go wrong here.
Our group of two couples stayed here for 4 nights and had an incredible experience!! A beautiful, peaceful and quaint resort with staff that were so friendly and attentive. We opted for the all-inclusive package and loved that all the meals were a-la-carte (no buffets!) The food and drinks (especially the margaritas!) were all excellent. The Tree-top suite was a great choice: a little tucked back from the pool with a wonderful view, very spacious room and a huge balcony seating area. We had fun kayaking off the shore and doing some snorkelling right near-by. Dinner on the beach was a little windy, but was still a lovely option. Unfortunately the sargassum (seaweed) was bad on the shore at that time, but we were so impressed by the staff out there daily raking and keep the property so pristine. We highly recommend Portofino!!…
We had an amazing time at Portofino! The rest is quaint and beautiful. With only 17 rooms we felt like we were visiting family. The staff are wonderful, the food was excellent, and the tree top suite was gorgeous. Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a relaxing vacation with great amenities, friendly service, and a wonderful experience. We will be making this an annual vacation.
If I could give this place 6 or 7 stars I would. Everything from the room/cabana, staff, food, tours, everything was great. Would like to give a special shout out to Ivan, Chef Steve, Bellini, Chocolate, Top, Zack, Roberto, Orlean, Massage ladies(can't remember their names, although I got two massages). We got the all inclusive package, but we did venture out a few times to eat elsewhere, but we were disappointed when comparing the food to Portofino. One expectation that shouldn't be too high is like facilities themselves. The rooms were fine, but not 5 star. Clean, but not spotless. The boats they use for the tours are old, but work fine. The pool is great, though, as is the AC in the room. But we didn't come here for a nice room or fancy boat. The scenery and ocean is why we came and it did not disappoint. The people/staff were the unexpected surprise, give them a $100 tip or a "thank you" the level of service is the same. I'm not sure if I'll come back to Belize, but if I do, I'll stay at Portofino.…
Rooms are very spacious. Service is incredible. We quick to get us anything we needed. Food is great and there are lots of options. We had a great time with our entire family. I would highly recommend!
We decided to celebrate our 25th anniversary with a trip to Ambergris Caye. When looking through reviews, Portofino stood out to us. The photos of the resort, the pool, and the ability to be all inclusive were all draws for us. Moe picked us up from the airport (we were late getting in) and drove us to the resort in the golf cart, pointing out things along the way. The staff greeted us by name, settled us into a room decorated for our anniversary, with a complementary bottle of champagne. The rest of our trip there was fantastic. Every staff member treats you like family. We did not take advantage of the all-inclusive option, preferring to eat out in town and at Secret Beach for some meals. However, every meal we had at the resort was delicious. We especially loved the paella! and the happy hour apps cannot be beat. The bar downstairs serves incredible drinks. ALL of the bartenders, including the one who started working there on our second to last day, were great. Friendly, chatty, and they remembered what we liked and made great suggestions. The staff arranged a golf cart rental for us one day, and the snorkel trips left from their dock so no need to drive to town early for an excursion. The grounds are lovely and well cared for. We found our bed to be super comfortable, and the morning views from the cabana porch were worth the trip alone. Before we left, the front desk arranged our covid tests. It was VERY quick and easy. There is just enough activity here in the evening to be a fun atmosphere, meeting locals and expats and other guests, but not enough that it is noisy or "party" like. We went into town for that, and were happy to come back to a quiet place after. We have already decided to plan another trip, and we will be staying at Portofino again. Usually I plan vacations to the minute and I'm constantly focused on details. I never had a thought about anything during this trip. I credit the awesome care of the people at this resort. Thanks for making our anniversary trip truly special!…
Staying at Portofino was awesome. We did an all-inclusive type package (partnered with their sister resort, Caves Branch, which we would also recommend), and it was great. Rooms are cute and clean. The food at the resort is delicious and we did not get tired of it even after a four-night stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you want a drink, they will bring it to you in the pool, and they will even chop down and get fresh fruit for you for free! The overall vibe is very relaxed and quiet, which we appreciated. Seemed like adult couples for the most part. Having direct access to water activities was also awesome. You can just walk down to the dock and schedule activities. People staying at other resorts/hotels in the area would travel to Portofino to eat or to do water activities, so it was nice to have everything at our fingertips. I also got an open-air massage, which was lovely! We did two different snorkeling excursions, and both were enjoyable. It is also relatively easy to rent a golf cart (but book it in advance) and drive into town, so you can experience that while still enjoying the overall peace and quiet when retreating back to the resort. Overall, we would definitely recommend!…
