We really enjoyed our stay at Captain Morgan's. We spent a week with the folks from Captain Morgan, traded timeshare to spend some time on the beach. The resort is very comforting and safe. The staff is outstanding everyone takes ownership and strives to please the visitors. Raody and Sam in the restaurant are just terrific, always greet you with a smile and even made recommendations of places and business to visit around the island. The food and service are very good at the restaurant and tastes fresh and flexible if you want to make small changes. The atmosphere and faux tropical buildings give the resort a great vibe. They are making enhancements so there is construction going on, but the crews while working hard were considerate to the visitors. Roger helped us plan and take advantage of opportunities for diving and fishing, great choices with local independent companies that provided outstanding service and personal attention! We will be back!…
We can't say enough about the staff at Captain Morgan's Resort. From before we arrived to the end of our stay, the staff were attentive, caring and SO good at their jobs. Alexis at the front desk had a smile everytime we saw him and the answer was always YES (he made every request happened and was SO cheerful!). Ronald, Sam and Bhody were incredible at their jobs in the restaurant and bar. We let them choose our meals almost every time and they didn't steer us wrong!! Mango daiquiris were our favorite! Roger set us up with our excursions and we loved them! Fishing with Martin, snorkeling, Shark Ray Alley. All amazing! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for an amazing trip. We'll be back!!
You will know you are in the Caribbean when you arrive. The buildings, while made of concrete block, are covered in Palapa wood with thatched roofs. The inside has mohagony floors, doors and basically everywhere. They are well appointed with everything you need. We went through Hurricane Lisa and lost power four times for about a few seconds each time before the generators kicked in. The AC and TV worked throughout the storm. They all have a porch or balcony that looks over the Caribbean Sea. When you walk out you are in the sand. The grounds have three pools and lots of places to hang out and enjoy the ocean. The staff are excellent and very helpful.
Such a great place to stay! Having a thatched roof cabana (with modern amenities) beach front is something else. And the staff were wonderful…from Alexiss and the front desk staff, to Annette and the wait staff, the bartenders, and the ladies at the spa. Taking a golf cart to town and “secret beach” is an adventure in itself. Thank you Captain Morgan’s for a great week!!! 🌴🌴🌴
Nice resort north of San Pedro proper. A little rough around the edges due to slow tourist traffic coming out of the pandemic and casino closed but overall still pretty nice. Restaurant on site is simple but good with fairly limited options. Main pool bar was open daily but not much going on. Room was nice and reasonably well-equipped except there was no extra blanket and we had to ask 3 times before we finally got one. Well equipped store on property and prices about the same as other groceries we found in San Pedro. Overall a very nice experience.
This place was at one time very good, but don’t bother now. Staff are doing the best they can with from our view little guidance or help. The view from the road is just down right scary. If we saw this in the daylight before checking in we might have cancelled. The smell from the water toys launch area is in front of the main restaurant and pool is sickening. Personally we have trouble ordering a drink. It is pub type food at best unless you ask if they have something else, then they make a great meal. The front office staff just keep saying “ I am Sorry” The main manager is doing her best with what she has been given, run down is the best we can say. As a timeshare experience this is very disappointing. The new owners need to spend time and money if they they expect to continue. A once lovely place is just falling apart. Outside coverings just hanging off the building, grounds are struggling to look presentable. Has a casino but cannot open due to covid, second pool open but pool bar is not open and neglected. Overall look is just plane run down! Non existent activities within resort or cancelled at last minute. The place is empty and can easily see why. The large pool picture in brochure is of Oceans 23, part of the old resort segregated from the rest. This is for private owners. Everyone we told where we were staying said it was too bad new owners took over.…
I came here after getting out of the army a few years back and meant to do this a while ago. The hotel is beautiful and the food was amazing. Boni was my guy; he hooked me up with whatever I needed and told me about all the events going on. I am definitely planing a return trip to Belize and definitely planning on staying here. Highly recommend. Jeff
We’re a family of four - booked a 1-bedroom villa, the description said it would sleep 4 people with an extra sofabed in the living room. Let me tell you what the sofabed really is - a health hazard. I tried sleeping in it the first night but it is so bad I couldn’t get a wink of sleep. It is my second night here, I was so tired and fell asleep on it for an hour. Now I have a full back ache and trying to sleep on the floor. FYI - I’m a perfectly healthy active person with no back issues. I asked the frontdesk if they could do something about it, they told me they could give extra blankets. I asked if they could give me a different suite, I was told they would work on it and haven’t heard from anyone so far. Paying ~400 USD per night, it is a disgrace I have to go through with this. This was supposed to be my vacation, looks like I have four more nights of sleeping on the floor. Captain Morgan’s, if you’d like to know… I’m in E2. You know where to find me.…
First time traveling to Belize. Wonderful visit. Staff were awesome and very helpful. First class service. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Facilities were immaculate. A tropical dream and must stay. No other place on San Pedro captures the Caribbean like it, thatch roofs and all. Welcome to Gilligan’s Island! Only negative were the mosquitoes.
I will be going back to Captain Morgans Retreat. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. The room was beautiful and very clean. The staff was amazing!!! I did not want to leave, lol. The only disappointment was that the casino was closed, but I will return in a post-covid world to check it out:)
