Beautiful resort with friendly staff. Booked a last minute room and it did not disappoint. The staff were eager to please. Great beach that was cleaned and groomed regularly. Delicious food and actually not too far from the town center, it’s a nice walk.

The Alaia was a wonderful place to base our stay in Belize. The grounds are clean, the pool is beautiful, and the individual rooms are well-appointed with comfortable beds, plenty of storage, and clean bathrooms with nice dual-shower systems. We initially were given a "pool view" room despite booking an ocean-view, but they moved us promptly to an amazing room in the central tower. They have a nice gym (just big enough for a smaller resort) and a spa with plenty of offerings. The beach is typically Belizean, meaning it is warm and with clear water, but nothing to write home about. Service staff were friendly and the drinks were tasty. Since it is not all-inclusive, you can tell they are trying to prepare good food for the guests since everything costs money. Breakfast was delicious and so was lunch. Dinner menus are "fine" per se, but San Pedro has so many incredible culinary experiences within a mile of the resort, so I would recommend skipping Salt for dinner and eating out. It will be cheaper and tastier. I will, however, mention that the rooftop bar and infinity pool has amazing sushi and Japanese-style cocktails. Very sexy spot to hang out. We will stay at the Alaia again.

Room Tip: Get an ocean view or pool view. The reef view rooms are not worth it, despite being way cheaper.

Dear Robert S.S, Thanks so much for this candid review of your most recent stay with us... We're delighted to learn that you were impressed with the resort grounds, our rooftop lounge, accommodations, comfortable bed and clean dual showers. San Pedro is one of the more expensive destinations in Belize, and while most of our visitors think it's worth every penny, it's certainly not for everyone. You'll find that, while there are eateries here that cater to most tastes and budgets, our prices compare favorably with other high-end restaurants on the island. But it's always a great idea to venture out in town and have a taste of the other locales, and glad you did. We’ll be awaiting your next visit.

What a stunning property! Located in San Pedro, with a private dock and beach, i think its the best location on the island because you can get into town very easily when you want to or stay on the beautiful grounds and enjoy everything the hotel has to offer! A world class pool setup with cabanas on the wet deck, swim up bar, and great service, this was some of the BEST hotel food we’ve ever had. The rooms are all huge - we went with a 2 bedroom ocean view and it was a perfect fit for our family of 4. The hotel was clean, new, and had a great setup. Service was excellent - the front desk went above and beyond, from helping us schedule tours, to working through difficult travel and logistics issues as we traveled in on Christmas Day, to having very attentive wait staff - all were friendly and wonderful. I would highly recommend a stay here, especially if its your first time to Belize.

My two adult sons and I visited Alaia 12/17 – 12/29. The property is beautiful. We stayed in a spacious 2-bedroom suite with a full kitchen and large terrace. Suite had 3 smart TVs and it was easy to log into our own Netflix and Hulu accounts. Also Wifi throughout the resort was very good. We had a great cleaning crew lead by Brenda. We ate at the Terrace and Beach Bar but not at any of the restaurants. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Although we did not eat at the Christmas Brunch, the food looked fabulous!! Food was expensive but priced like other high-end restaurants. The staff throughout the resort was friendly and extremely helpful. Mr. Eric always seemed to be around to answer questions and help, always with a smile. Julio at the Beach Bar and Dennis at the Terrace Bar made exquisite, tasty cocktails. Not your run of the mill rum punch or panty rippers. My favorite, Julio called the Rose of the Caribbean. Both Dennis and Julio loved to find out what you liked and mix up a special brew just for you! The pool and beach area are gorgeous. The only issue was they did not seem to have enough pool/beach chairs for all the guests. We took day trips inland to see Mayan ruins that the concierge helped us to arrange. I am sure we may have found cheaper tours in town, but we were picked up/dropped off in the lobby – can’t beat the convenience and tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. We also snorkeled the Hol Chan Reserve and Shark Alley with the Dive Shop. Since all rooms are privately owned and booked through the Marriott system visiting during the holidays did cause some problems with getting the room, I expected…The hotel manager worked diligently to make our stay perfect.

We stayed at the Alaia Belize at the beginning of January 2022 for four nights (and we’re frequent travelers who typically stay in Bonvoy properties). I’ll start with the good: the hotel itself is beautiful - relatively new, rooms are a good size, and the pool is very nice (although it’s not distinctly “Belizean” - it looks like a hotel that just as easily could have been in Miami or LA). The spa was wonderful as well - my masseuse was fantastic. The staff is very friendly albeit not very helpful (more to come on that below). Now with the not-so-great parts: to begin with, it felt like we were being constantly nickel-and-dimed for everything on the property, which seemed ridiculous given it’s supposed to be a luxury resort. No complimentary water bottles, and I had to beg the front desk for hot water for the tea bags they had sitting out in the lobby (they tried to tell me the tea was only for the morning even though it’s always out). Food was way overpriced and not great at the hotel - we quickly realized why the restaurant was pretty empty at night (everyone headed into town to better places). The place seemed somewhat understaffed at the front desk - there was always a line to talk to staff. The concierge was incredibly unhelpful - when I asked for dinner recommendations he couldn’t think of any and we had to follow up numerous times to make sure he actually made the reservations we requested. The staff didn’t seem to feel any sense of urgency to fulfill requests or orders - maybe that’s just an “island time” thing, but it got pretty frustrating when we’d have to ask for things multiple times. And to top it all off the walls were like paper - we had really loud neighbors who kept us up at night and woke us up early in the morning. Net net, while this place is beautiful, it is definitely not of the caliber I expected for an Autograph hotel. Not sure I would stay here again or recommend it to others.

Dear @karakdavison, We very much appreciate your candid comments regarding your stay and experience at Alaia Belize. We're glad you were impressed with your accommodation type, the main hotel pool and your spa treatment. However, we‘re deeply disappointed to hear about the challenges you experienced during your time with us.
