Alaia was a wonderful experience - specifically The Deck/beach bar. Special shout out to Yara, Malique, and Noe- their friendliness was unmatched. Yara and Malique were extraordinary bartenders with great attention to detail and focus upon each individual customer. Yara also was extremely insightful about Belizean culture and had plenty of stories about life in San Pedro. Noe was one of the friendliest people we’ve ever met and always went the extra mile to help us and other guests. It was slightly confusing as to what bars/dining places were open for all inclusive, but with how expensive food and drinks were, all inclusive was worth it if you’re not planning on leaving the resort much; for reference, drinks ran $12-24 USD, food was average $35-40 USD for entrees. Otherwise, it might be cheaper to explore San Pedro and not do inclusive. Regardless, a great experience for what we wanted. Can’t wait to come back!…
I have to start off by mentioning that I am a Lifetime Titanium Marriott Member, so I have traveled the world and seen some truly exceptional Marriott properties. What sets Alaia apart is their hospitality - the people are truly incredible and your experience starts from the minute you walk through the doors of the lobby to check in. We were greeted by Zariah and from the moment we introduced ourselves she did not forget our names. We stayed in the Ocean Front Reef house, and while the accommodation was nothing to brag about, the rooms were comfortable, clean and simple. The concierge was helpful and organized our private snorkeling trip through Belize Dive Pros (conveniently located at the dock on the property)! We ate at The Deck three times during our stay - the pizza was great and the seafood chowder is out of this world! I have to give major shoutouts to our favorite server Minelia for always making our experience unique and special. She addressed us by our first names, gave us some local intel about where to eat off-site, and was overall so warm and friendly. She truly made our stay better. The minute we walked up to the restaurant and saw her smiling face we just felt like we were truly in paradise - it's like having your own cool group of friends! I also have to give a shoutout to the other two fantastic servers at The Deck, Lijia and Aleysi. They are a dream team! The rooftop bar has some of the best sushi (surf and turf roll for the win!) I've had and you'll need to try Jojo's special cocktail. Jojo is a great bartender who made sure we had good, local cocktails. He's a hilarious guy that wants to ensure your stay is nothing short of spectacular. While the accommodations fall a bit short of being truly luxurious, my family and I would come back in a heartbeat for the truly exceptional customer service we received. In fact, we are already planning a trip back for Christmas! We also loved it so much that we are entertaining the idea of purchasing a condo in their new Beach Club slated to break ground in the next year or so! We can't wait to come back!…
My husband and I had an amazing time at Alaia Belize resort. It was our first time to Belize and honestly, I could live there. I’m actually serious! Not only was everyone at the resort so welcoming but the entire island, everyone was so kind. When you shop, no one tries to hustle you. We bought beautiful art and craftsmanship that will forever be a part of our home. I could speak to San Pedro forever, we met so many amazing people. Lots of people from the states that went for a week and stayed several months, even some that moved their lives there after vacationing there. I’d like to focus this review on the team at Alaia, which by the way is a Marriott Autograph Collection. What a great group of people. Every encounter was so welcoming and warm. I know it’s there job to offer good customer service but for some, we walked away wanting to keep them in our lives forever. A big shout out to OMAR!!! He is stellar! He just moved to Belize, to follow his wife for her opportunity, as she has before when they were in Turks & Caicos for his opportunity. He made us feel special every single day, even up to our last hours, on our last day, when I was struggling to get out of the pool and get ready to leave. He’s amazing! I can’t wait to see you again Omar! Then there is Malique. This is an 18 YO that just started his first job! He blew us away… he’s going places. His family should be very proud. He has the best smile and such a warm personality. He’s a Belizan through and through. Our suite was gorgeous! We had three balconies, one being a very large terrace, with all nano walls. ALL the food was delicious. This is not an all inclusive resort so you should really get out in town and mesh with the locals.. we probably ate at Estelle’s 10 times!! Loved the food and people. We went so many places. I have to ask anyone who visits, go to Sammy’s.. such a great story. The restaurant is named after their dog that passed away but they went there, fell in love, decided to move there then open a restaurant … in front of their beautiful new home!! I so want to do that! Oh… get a golf cart! We got ours at Ricks! Walking distance from resort, like 4 minutes. You golf cart everywhere. Ok back to Alaia… I also had an amazing 90 min massage at the spa… DO THIS!!! This really is the VACATE. Trust me. The beach is calm and relaxing. The Manager of the resort was so great and only wants the best for his guests (sorry I can’t remember his name). I do remember checking out and the girl said “now you are part of the Alaia family”. Even though I know customer service tactics, it actually did feel really good to hear. Okay so clearly I have a lot of positives, I must be transparent if I’m going to offer an honest review. These are my only negatives. 1) the pool is not heated. Hardly anyone would get in the pool even in 80 degree weather because it was ice cold. Once you just jump in and get used to it, it’s fine, but not what you would expect. 2) the gasoline smell coming off the boat dock that takes divers/snorkeling peeps out was so strong, sitting on the beach, it can be a lot, caused me headaches. 3) lastly, the noseeums bugs! They are all over, not just the resort but everywhere. I was not aware, so we slept with all doors open the first two nights to hear the sound of the palm trees and waves but woke up with bites everywhere. When we brought it to managements attention, they did come and bug spray but they are so hard to get rid of. They were all over the ceiling of our large terrace, just waiting to get in. Again, this is all over the island, not just the resort. We saw sooo many people with bites while out and about and on excursions … bring that bug spray and keep your doors closed, certainly when sleeping! That’s it, we cannot wait to get back! We will absolutely stay here again… my only ask.. PLEASE consider heating the pool. You can’t really enjoy the pool bar when just bone chilly. Enjoy this island, enjoy the people, the resort. See ya soon Aliai!…
This a beautiful and recently expanded property on the only stretch of island beach without heavy sea grass. It is conveniently located in town near the most popular restaurants and late-night clubs (Thurs-Sat). For those unmotivated to venture out, there are several restaurants and bars with some delicious offerings. The hotel can arrange any type of excursion. As in most cases, it is the staff that truly make this place shine. They are, in total, gracious, helpful, friendly and efficient. Because we stayed for 12 days, we became familiar with several excellent staff members that deserve an appreciative “shout-out”, including Omar, Blanca, Dennis, Rodolfo, Joshue, Melvin and Anjel at the pool bar/pool deck as well as the personable craft-drink-creating Johan (Jo-Jo) of the lobby bar. These people (and many others) truly made our stay a special experience.…
We had a lovely ocean view suite. Beautifully appointed. Very comfortable. Awesome outdoor patio. Pool was great. Hotel dining was ok. Front desk staff was very helpful. Only wierd thing was when we checked out my husband forgot his flyrod. Before we left, he remembered and ran back up to the room. Housekeeping was already there, and a young boy had taken his rod out of the case and was working to put it together while the housekeeper looked on.
My mom and I stayed at Alaia for a week to snorkel and relax (if you want to dive do the online training before you come!) We booked a vista studio room and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom/2 bath reef suite. We would recommend doing all excursions through the resort dive shop (Belize pro dive center), the quality was top notch for our Great Blue Hole day trip (this trip is weather/wind dependent so schedule it early in your trip in case it has to be rescheduled!) and other shorter excursions. The boat was clean and the tour guides were incredibly fun and knowledgeable. The concierge was extremely easy to work with beforehand for excursions as well as a minor adjustment we needed to make during the trip. The main pool is beautiful and has an ocean view. Sometimes the music is very loud, so the reef pool offers a quieter experience. The resort restaurants were incredible and every staff member we encountered was incredibly kind - we were impressed! While there is the option to rent a golf cart to explore, we mainly used taxis arranged through the hotel for our dinners out (bring $10s and $1s in USD cash for taxi/tipping). We were amazed how empty the resort felt despite being full as they said, highly recommend for a relaxing trip surrounded by kind, caring, and knowledgeable staff members!…
We are currently staying at Alaia and could not be more happy. Everything has been perfect. Highlights— Omar has been our savior by the pool. Everything we need he gets to us quickly and professionally. Noel was also amazing giving us a tour of the grounds and carrying our bags. Recommendation— don’t get the all inclusive package. The food in town is amazing and the food on the resort is best for snacking. Prices at the resort are high for the quality. People remember your name around here! This makes everything feel extra special. Overall extremely happy with our trip and would definitely recommend coming here for a family or couples trip. You will not be disappointed.
From start to finish Alaia Belize provided exemplary service during our stay. They truly have re-written the book on how to treat guests. It is very simple, quality over quantity with an amazing personal touch from every employee. My family enjoyed 8 spectacular days and had zero complaints. Their concierge has everything covered, not one excursion did I have to make a phone call or make a payment, they covered it all, leaving you to enjoy everything San Pedro and Alaia has to offer. Food and drinks were outstanding, you could always find a spot at the pool, never had to wait for a table at any of their restaurants. We heard they were fully booked during our stay, but never once felt congested. Doesn't matter if its a couple's trip, family vacation or reunion, there is something personal for everyone at Alaia. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Tinelli Family!…
From the time of check-in to check-out, the Alaia staff were amazing. They were very accommodating and very friendly. I had a room overlooking the pool area and the Atlantic Ocean where I could observe the sun rise every morning. The front desk staff were very professional and explained everything about the hotel. Every time you entered the lobby there was someone to open the door. In fact, it was the same person who helped with transporting your luggage when you checked in. They always had a friendly greeting. The pool bar staff always had a smile, and they always addressed my granddaughter as the Princess. Omar and Maria were always there asking if we needed something. I cannot remember all the names but all the staff I encountered were always smiling and always said hello. The security staff always waved when you entered or left the property. The food and drink and at the Deck and the Terrace Bar was delicious. We used one of their golf carts and it was easy navigating around San Pedro. There is a great bakery just about a block away from Alaia which bakes great cinnamon buns. If I ever come back to San Pedro, the Alaia is where I would stay.…
Very comfortable resort in great location. All of The staff were amazing and always friendly and accommodating. Omar took great care of us by the pool . The Rooftop sushi bar and pool were so cool and Reef restaurant food was good and we ate outside over the water which was beautiful. The mixologist Johan in the piano bar was very entertaining and mixed interesting and unique cocktails. Definitely can recommend this resort in San Pedro.
