My husband and I wanted to get married in Belize and we didn’t know where exactly. Our coordinator Melody recommended Lighthouse Beach and we instantly loved it. We arrived and the views were incredible. Every villa has a view and both sizes are enormous, well equipped, and beautiful. Large patios to relax on when you want time away from the pool area. Pool is perfect size for smaller groups to feel more private and relaxed. Rob is an awesome bartender and even better person. I could say the exact thing for everyone I met and visited with, especially Glori, Andrés, Derek, Diana, and all the staff at Lighthouse Beach. It was cute, relaxing, clean, and so much fun. Andrés who works security talked with me about how they do a neighborhood watch. You feel very safe staying there. I enjoyed our morning talks when i was pouring my life saving coffees. We saw a water spout funnel cloud one morning! Glori ensures you are relaxed and taken care of the second you step foot on the property. She effortlessly takes care of your vacation needs and she’ll help you schedule tours and other activities while on your vacation. The owner was sweet as well and I was so thankful I ran into her on my way out on my last day so I could compliment her staff and my overall experience in person. I truly can’t wait to come back!…
After checking out early from Mahogany Bay Resort due to a horrible stay (see my review of them), we moved to this much nicer resort. The employees here really care about their guests and provide a really enjoyable experience. The beach and pool here are nice and never crowded. The rooms are spacious with a nice kitchen and a huge balcony. The bartender makes great drinks and is very friendly. While there is no restaurant here, there is a nice outdoor Breakfast & Lunch restaurant just a short walk down the beach at Pelican Reef Villas. The manager at Lighthouse Villas is great and is very helpful in booking taxis, tours, or anything else you may need. This resort is probably the best value of anywhere on Ambergris Caye.
After a week on the mainland we arrived in San Pedro. Greeted by Glori, who was ready for us and quickly took us to our room. Breathtaking views. We were in room 8 which was twice the size of my first apartment and 10x nicer. Fully equipped to s an understatement! The staff was phenomenal. “Rob” a time the pool bar was a wealth of local knowledge from dining to nightlife to whatever establishment had what you needed, enough cannot be said about him. Glori was so sweet and attentive, made last minute arrangement for a full day snorkeling trip for us. It was a PRIVATE tour that included all the best spots to snorkel with incredible guides who even prepared us lunch on the beach and fresh conch ceviche that they dove for. Glori set us up for an adventure we will never forget. We WILL be back!…
Had a great stay at Lighthouse Beach Villas. The family was comfortable in a 2 BD/2 BA condo overlooking the water, barrier reef, and pool. There is a small nearby market for snacks and such. The kitchen was well equipped to make breakfast including a 5-gallon bottle of drinking water. The staff were very helpful with snorkeling tours and other needs including providing coffee in the morning. The dock was used for relaxing and tour pick up, very convenient. If you are a sport fan, the tv has many channels to help stay current. The balcony was large and had a table for dining and comfortable lounging furniture.
We had an incredible trip at the Lighthouse. The villa was nice and spacious and well stocked with a wonderful view. Each villa is designed differently so review the pictures for each. We loved being away from the center of town and actually enjoyed the bumpy ride in the golf cart to go in to town. What made this truly incredible was the staff at Lighthouse. They are there to take care of any need you have. Rob at the pool and bar will not only make incredible drinks, make great restaurant recommendations, or get you set up with paddle boards, he even offered to grill the fish we caught. Glori is your key contact and is a great communicator before and during your trip. She helped get our golf cart rentals set up and arranged a great fishing trip. Anything you want to do, she will help. So relaxing. We can't wait to return.…
We had a 2 bedroom condo in the second floor overlooking the ocean. It had everything we need, very comfy beds and very clean. The owner was onsite, always asking if everything was akay. Glori was very helpful (even before we arrived, she was always answering our endless questions via email), and arranged for everything we needed (including a golf cart). Rob is more that just an EXCELLENT bartender, he makes sure every guest has an excellent experience. The beach is always clean and chairs avialable. We did not take out the kayaks, but there are available. Rob even arranged for fishing poles. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort.
This place is amazing! A few reasons: 1. The unit. We rented a top floor 2 bedroom condo - it was super clean, looked better in person than the pictures, had a huge balcony with amazing ocean views, w/d in unit, huge bathrooms, etc. 2. The service. Glori organized everything for us - the flight to San Pedro, the taxi to/from the airport, the golf car rental (they came in our unit to fill up the paperwork!), covid testing (in the unit), etc. Our vacation was so much more enjoyable without having to worry about little things. 3. The grounds. The pool and the bar were awesome! The chairs were plentiful and there were plenty of games to keep us busy. Rob made amazing drinks for adults and kids alike! 4. Boat tours. Glori booked two private boat tours for us with Allan and Brian and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. The first boat outing was a full day fishing and beach bbq and the food was delicious. Two kids from our group got sick and Brian and Allan made sure we all had plenty of boat fun! Our second tour was a full day snorkeling and again Allan and Brian made sure it was a great experience for everyone in our group. Allan brought his daughter with him to help with the kids snorkeling. They also took my husband (who gets sea sick) to shore for a break and picked him up for a last quick snorkel before returning us all back at the hotel. 5. Just to re-iterate my point on the service - Glori patiently answered all of my million questions prior to our trip and we are all very appreciative of her and Robs recommendations for food and activities. If we ever go back to San Pedro, we will definitely be staying again at Athens gate!…
This is our second time at Athen's Gate and it did not disappoint. We had a 3 bedroom on the top floor, big balcony facing the ocean. Beautiful well kept grounds. The service is exceptional. Rob and Glory are there to help with anything you need and they just are fabulous. It is just a very personalized experience staying here because it is not a big resort. Athen's Gate is a little south of town in a quieter area which we loved, still easy to go in your golf cart and head out to many close by restaurants if you want. Glory arranged our excursions for us, we did the Hol Chan snorkeling, a trip to the mainland to see Mayan ruins and go cave tubing, and we also did a fishing trip and then lunch at Caye Caulker. 100% would recommend staying here and will definitely be back.
Our family of 4 just completed our 9 days at Lighthouse Beach, our first trip to Belize. The accommodations here exceeded our expectations. The villa was spacious, clean, and had an awesome view of the water. The grounds are very well maintained, very safe, and just really nice. Gloria happily took care of our every request and Rob was always entertaining mixing our daily dose of Rum Punch. The entire staff was super friendly and professional. I hope we get the opportunity to return (soon), we thoroughly enjoyed this vacation.
This is my second stay at what is now known as Athen's Gate. It was great to see familiar faces after not traveling during Covid and also really great to see the friendly people of Ambergris Caye begin their recovery from the pandemic. In Belize in general you can really turn off your brain and enjoy life, but especially here at Athen's gate. It all begins with Glory the concierge, front desk, middle man, etc. Whatever you want she can help. She'll help you arrange for a golf cart, excursions, restaurant reservations, massages, take-out, or anything else you may need. She makes everything so seamless and easy. The property itself is excellently maintained, the pool is crystal clear, and there is a white sandy beach and pier. Don't forget to catch the sunset on the lighthouse, it's breathtaking. The hotel has beach cruisers which we took into town as well as kayaks and stand up paddle boards. We stayed in a three-bed room villa with a master bed/bathroom with jacuzzi and fully equipped kitchen and dining room. It was cleaned often and the beds were very comfortable. A tip would be if you plan on cooking in your villa is to pack your own seasonings and oils you would use in your baggage as the villas have none of these. The wifi was decent, but not strong enough to do major video conferencing or work which is fine by me! Finally, I would be amiss if I didn't mention Rob, the bartender. He is always the highlight of the trip and wish I could take him back to America. The drinks are the absolute best. I would suggest the coconut mojito and pinna cola both 10/10 and the best frozen drinks I have ever had. Rob definitely takes pride in his work and you can tell he really enjoys it. How many resort bars do you know that take the time to make their own fruit juices or infuse their own liquor? Above all Rob is a great conversationalist. I would definitely recommend this place highly.…
