This hotel was wonderful. We had a great 2 bedroom apartment on the penthouse level. One more floor up to roof and pool area. It was great, breezy, small pool but oh so refreshing. It was right in town, you could see the parade of golf carts going up and down. You can see the barrier reef from up the roof. We had a great time in San Pedro and at this hotel. But no elevator so you do have to walk up 4 flights of steps - great exercise!
Honestly not sure why others haven't reviewed 5 stars, or why people haven't left reviews. Laguna Hotel is a hidden gem (almost literally) because the hardware store below. The hotel is situated above Hermandos Hardware and you wouldn't realize the apartments above were guest rooms. Let me start with the location. It's conveniently located about a 6 minute ride from San Pedro Airport towards the north, and about a block and a half from the north end of the strip of beach front restaurants, bars and grills. You're very close to downtown San Pedro where the nightlife is mostly at. 10 out of 10 for location. We'll move right into the apartment itself. Huge, roomy, spacious, comfortable, plenty of lighting. Lots of sitting and lounging options. It has a perfectly sized kitchenette outfit with a small stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and all the kitchenware you need if your eating in-house. The apartment also has a small kitchen. Past the common area is the bedroom and bathroom. Huge bedroom with lots of space for your luggage and personal belongings. The bathroom is equally as big for the bathroom. Large, oversize shower (that has plenty of water pressure 😀) making it comfortable to clean off after a day outside. They did provide really nice shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I actually preferred it over what I brought. The bedding arrangement was quite comfortable to relax and sleep in. The mattress was a little on the firmer side but very nice. The pillows were the same as the mattress...slightly firm but manageable if you are a pillow folder. And the linens were exceptionally soft and lightweight. The combination of the linens and furniture made us rest easy for the next day of adventure. There is a ceiling fan in both rooms, and only one A/C unit in the bedroom. If you're new to this, my advice is to barely crack the bedroom door open if you're running a/c at night so it creates a small pull into to other room. Also, the ceiling fan helps keep the room cool at night. I suggest you turn it all off when you leave for the day to conserve. The apartment cools quickly when you turn it back on. The facilities are very clean, free of clutter, debris and other stuff, keeping it very safe. The top of the complex has a spectacular 360 view of the island making for breathtaking sunrise and sunset viewing pleasure. There's hammocks, and Adirondack chairs spread across the deck for privacy. The wifi is very stable and worked throughout our entire stay. We had a strong signal with no interruptions. Lastly, the staff was amazing - very accommodating, friendly and appreciative. We had a few changes with schedules during our trip and they simply were fantastic and flexible - all without making us feel like we were a burden. In all, this is my highest recommend. The accommodations you get for the price is nearly unbeatable. Safe location, gated, locked, cameras, safety lights. You'll find a less expensive room - I'm sure of it. If you're backpacking in/out - this might be too much room for you. This is precisely the best value for the money.…
Laguna Hotel is the perfect place to stay for travelers who love to be in the heart of town. This small hotel is the PERFECT place to sit and watch the world go by. My husband and I loved sitting on the rooftop patio and watching the people of San Pedro live their daily lives. The smell of the bakery will pull you down the street and cure your sweet treat cravings (Casa Pan Bakery) and the authentic restaurants that surround the hotel are yummy places to enjoy the local cuisine. The pool was wonderful to cool off in after a walk around town, or the beach is just a block away. We have stayed in MANY resorts and condos throughout Belize, but this hotel was DEFINATELY one of the CLEANEST. I have no idea how Ms. Silma gets the tile floors to shine as they do; she is the BEST! If you want a SUPER clean and affordable place to stay, check out Laguna Hotel!…
The owner was so nice!! They took good care of us. There was a lot of stairs to get to our room. The room was very nice sized. We had everything we needed. Full kitchen and appliances. Seemed new and clean. Bathroom had poor lighting and wasn't the best set up but it was not bad. A couple of cockroaches. Third world country... Nice television. Stores in walking distance. Owner was always around. Excellent transportation to and from airport. Excellent recommendations for excursions.
Very accomodating host. Exellent location, clean room, nice facility. The rooftop terrace is wonderful for watching sunsires and sunset. Kitchen in room is adequately equipped and many nearby stores to buy groceries. One block from the beach. A great place to stay. Downsides are minor; it is Belize after all. Room lighting is sketchy so have a headlamp if you like to read other than in bed. Hot water is fair. Internet is great in the off hours but slows down quickly when many people are hitting the router. It's still a great choice and we'd stay there again.
The hotel is located near all the restaurants and bars. Two minute walk to Wayos bar and grill. Avis supermarket indirectly across the street from the hotel. The owner Ali was very nice, respectful, honesty and extremely attentive. The hotel was clean with every thing you would need. They even provide beach towels, new kitchen equipment. I can not wait to come back. They also help with golf cart rentals. Also, the rooftop is simply amazing!!!!
