We participated in the Murder Mystery during the past weekend. It was an awesome experience and a great way to spend a weekend. We highly recommend it. There is a lot of history in the Gibson Inn, which makes it unique among the hotels in Apalachicola. The staff was very accommodating, especially Salem, the resident cat, who is very friendly...

The bathroom is the smallest thing I've ever been in. Rooms were dirty. Food was absolutely disgusting. A/c barely worked in the whole building. Seen a few bugs in my room. No ice machine or vending machine. Paper thin walls. Needs to be renovated.

The rare occasion when a guest is not happy is very upsetting to us here at the Gibson Inn. We work long and hard to insure that each and every one of our guests have an enjoyable stay. I wish the guest would have made us aware of any concerns while they were here. If given the opportunity, we would...

We had a two night stay at the Gibson Inn and really enjoyed it. The Inn is charming and well maintained and they have a wonderful Happy Hour in the lounge daily which attracts guests and locals alike. Met a lot of interesting and friendly people. The staff overall was friendly and engaged with the guests. The one exception was...

A charming remnant of old florida with a grace and class about it enhanced by an attentive staff. . We are repeat visitors and plan to return. Nice walking community with shops and eateries. There is a friendly, but bossy cat that is really in charge.

I just got back from spending four days at the Gibson. What a wonderful time! I can hardly wait to go back next summer. The Inn is in excellent shape with a more-than friendly atmosphere. Everything was just charming. You'll enjoy Salem, the inn's cat.....What a sweetie! I just did not want to leave!

This was our second visit to the Gibson Inn. We were greeted warmly by Cynthia who assigned us to a corner room on the second floor, a fairly spacious room. This is a typical old historic Inn so we expected to see somewhat dated furnishings, but this only adds to the charm. I enjoyed the verandah with all the rocking...

Built in 1906, a beautifully restored, 2 story Victorian hotel! Completely surrounded by upper and lower porches filled with chairs, rockers and swings. The people, and the property exude old southern charm and hospitality. Reasonably priced and centrally located.Great place for a little R&R. Worth going out of your way for

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Gibson Inn is a fine example of Florida "Cracker" Architecture. This was the style of wood frame structure used widely in the 19th and early 20th century in Florida. These homes and businesses are characterized by metal roofs, raised floors, high ceilings, center hallways, and large wrap around porches. A widows walk and cupola crown the tin roof, all a reflection of the area's steamboat past. Built in 1907 of native heart pine and black cypress, the inn soon became known as a first class luxury hotel and was the only one between Pensacola and Jacksonville heated entirely by steam. Now listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Many of the 30 guest rooms are uniquely appointed with authentic antique furnishings, cable TV, telephone, and wireless internet. Each guest room has its own full private bath. ... more   less
