Had an early flight and the night before arrival was told there was no-one in the room and we could check in early. Upon arrival, it turns out someone had taken the room. All fine, check out at 11, so in theory the room should be available at 12. However, no-one asked the staff to prioritize and when I requested (sitting in the lobby next to my empty room (door open) was informed cleaning services "has to go in order". I've watched them clean 3 on this floor next to the lobby and not the one I'm waiting for. The Manager, a grumpy elderly man didn't apologize, rather insisted check-in be at three and "that's the way it is". Avoid.
Wow, just wow ! This hotel is magical. Me and my girl had the best stay ever at Mountain chalet. This hotel has unique feeling about it that’s hard to put in words. It’s not a new flashy hotel, it’s a heirloom full of history you will grow to like. The bar upstairs is the best place in Aspen to hang out. The free breakfast was really good with freshly squeezed orange juice. It made our stay a lot more convenient and affordable. Mountain chalet not only have the best prices in town, the people that work there make you feel like your right at home.
Stayed one night at the mountain chalet Aspen. Was debating between a 3 or a 4 star rating, wanted to give 3.5 but decided to round up. Overall this is a place with good value. At the price, you get free breakfast and free parking and a relatively good location (opposite St Regis) right in the middle of town with the free buses. The people are friendly and check in was easy. Breakfast consisted of the daily special (we had blueberry pancakes and bacon) and coffee/tea or hot chocolate. The free parking is in the basement. However the room was really small, and with our luggage there was not much space to move around. The furnishing was old and the place creaks. If you are looking for a place to stay the night or to save a bit before moving on, this is the place to be. Hotel Room: 3 Stars (Really small and old room) Room View: 2 Stars (There is no view) Service of Staff: 4 Stars (Easy check in and out) Lounges/Restaurants: 5 Stars (Loved the breakfast) Room Service: NA Location: 4 Stars (Middle of the town with good access to the buses)…
Weekend with friends who ran a marathon. Hotel feels fairly clean. Heated bathroom floor. Mostly quiet. Nice people. Aspen is a star with great scenery and John Denver park. Can’t help but report that the place needs a reno….. Lots of dogs here walking around and contributing to the background odor in the rooms. Trade off of cheap vs quality if you value location.
Check in was quick and friendly. We had requested a ground floor room because of our arthritic dog. We got a great location and the room had a small balcony that Skadi ( our dog) immediately claimed for herself! The location is beyond perfect. Afternoon cookies and a breakfast that reminded me of the ones I had at the hotels in Europe. I would highly recommend the Mountain Chalet to anyone wanting the homey, non cookie cutter travel experience
It is hard to write a review about this hotel. It is a tourist class hotel with first class amenities. We wanted air conditioning so we paid more and got a partially renovated room. New bathroom and carpet but with the same old rustic furniture. The walls are paper thin and the place badly needs a facelift. That being said it is right in the center of Aspen across the street from the St Regis. Beds are comfortable. The heated lap pool and hot tub are great. Then there is the made to order breakfast and buffet. There is also an underground parking garage. The price sells it. This truly is the only bargain in Aspen even if it’s rough around the edges. We only stayed one night and for us it was fine.
This place is old school aspen…. Great staff great feel great breakfast…. Nice lodge feel with a heated pool and a hot tub…..1 minute walk to town…. Very clean …. If your into a very fancy place go across the street to the Regis and pay 4x the price
Staff was very welcoming. Room was very clean and comfortable. Location was perfection! Breakfast was great and afternoon cookies were a treat. It’s right across from bus station . We took bus for Maroon Bells. We loved everything about this place. I highly recommend it. ENJOY!
We stayed here for 3 nights based on the pet friendly policy and more affordable cost (for Aspen). Our room (114) faced the pool. Although the breakfast staff was super friendly, the location very central, and the free parking handy, we just didn’t enjoy this hotel. Each of the three nights we were woken up by inconsiderate guests coming back late and having passionate conversations around the pool area; we could also hear the people above us walking around. The parking is limited and tight with all of the SUVs, but luckily we could get a space each day when we needed one (even with a pass) - others weren’t so fortunate and would have to turn back out. Upon arrival in room, our dog was constantly sniffing under the baseboard heaters - turns out there was a big gap in the floor, and a good amount of dog food was in there. I cleaned it all out, but for a $30/night per fee and a Service Fee added to our bill for Housekeeping (even when our room wasn’t serviced), it’s not great customer service. The woman at check out thanked me for letting her know, and then charged me full price. Rooms had a fridge and safe, but no coffee maker. Coffee is available in the lobby,…
Wanted to like this a whole place a lot. It's half way there, but a whole half away, too. Situated perfectly smack dab in downtown Aspen, the location is amazing. Maybe that's why the owners sold it for tens of millions over its appraised value (?). Could not sleep for four nights - room was a hot mess with bed uncomfortable, bathroom from the 1950s, and carpet from the 1970s. Breakfast was amazing as was the crew that ran it.
