I had never stayed in a bed and breakfast and called the owner Janey before booking. She was very sweet and when we arrived had snacks and drinks waiting there for us. We felt right at home and the room we stayed in had a...More
Something a bit different, with lots of character. The owners went out of their way to make our stay a very comfortable one. They even provided our 2 year old with an Easter egg! Highly recommended if you want to avoid the homogeneous hotel experience.
Our stay was in an original Craftsman home built in 1910 by Dr. George Cooper. The best part is that it's located in a small historic town that is only a block from this home. The hosts have kept it's originality in tack, accessorizing with...More

Well located - a very short walk to main street, but far enough from busy highway 49 to keep the rooms quiet. Great mattresses, spotlessly clean and charming decor. Very very good hot breakfasts, beautifully served with fresh fruit - not your usual buffet selection....More

Take a drive up to Calaveras Big Trees. Back in the 1800's, Big Trees was one of the Great Wonders of The World and they are truly magnificent. Check out the Angels Camp Museum, and really get a taste of the California Gold Rush. Definitely visit the town of Murphys. Its a historical gold rush town with great shopping, excellent food and 22 wine tasting rooms right on main street within a 1 mile stretch! And for your wife's birthday dinner I recommend Grounds in Murphys or V Bistro at The Victorian Inn. Excellent food and great ambiance. Make a reservation and Enjoy!
