We had travelled on the lovely Coastal Starlight train from LA which arrived at Oakland after 9:30pm. When booking the train through Amtrak it offered a special on accommodation at this hotel of $122 per night. We thought it would be a good place to stay for 1 night until we moved to our other accomm in San fran. This... More

Travelled with my wife and 2 small kids and was going to stay for 1 night before taking flight back from Oakland airport. Environment looked shady with so many suspicious people walking around and staring at us, like they never saw a family there. Checkin was easy, moved luggage to room only to find that room has a nig balcony... More

Upgrade to suite but room smells old and musty. Front desk was very polite but they need to upgrade the furniture and rugs!!! The area is sort of sketchy. At least there's a mall across the street!!!!!!

I thought the Coral Reef had been 'refreshed' but that was not the case. Furniture was the same tired sofa and chair. My boyfriend sat in the chair and it sunk so much we thought he wouldn't be able to get out of it! Bed was tired as well and a bit lumpy. Bedding was adequate and we had several... More

We have stayed here several times. We are always looking for a reasonably priced, clean, quiet place to sleep, not a fancy place to hang out in. The Coral Reef Inn fits our needs. It is close to the beach, and a short drive from charming downtown Alameda, the Alameda Flea Market, and the ferry terminal (the ferry gets you... More

The Coral Reef was once 'the place to stay' in Alameda. A block from the beach, spacious units, well kept. Now, it is in a state of rapid decline. The owners are taking in well over 10K a night when full, and not putting anything back into restoration. We had a suite with a kitchen which included one dirty plate... More

We had a week in the SF Bay area and needed a cheap base. This is just such a place. Most people who come here will do so purely based on price, which is exactly what we did. We were not expecting high quality and we did not get it. It ticks the boxes you'd expect for a cheap hotel:... More

OK, I agree with every review of this hotel, but if you come prepared and with little expectations this place can work for you, IF you like camping. FIRST THE BAD: The wallpaper is slipping off the walls, there is a weird smell at times, the place looks like a prison when you are checking in, there is no "real"... More
