If you're traveling on the Devil's Highway be sure to stop and eat or spend the night. We stayed two nights on our old Route 666 trip. Rode up the highway to the lodge then did the loop the next day. Rooms are clean and...More
Loved this place as soon as we arrived there. Looks like a log cabin.
On arrival we entered a Warm and cozy lounge area with deep leather sofas and roaring wood burner. So welcoming.
The bedroom was lovely with a massive bed and nice furniture...More
This lodge was updated several years ago and is maintained nicely. Between Charlene and Charlie our stay was top notch. This is a jeans and warm shirt kind of place with comfortable rooms/beds/showers, a couple of great sitting rooms and the steak was incredible. Breakfast...More

The closest large airport, Phoenix or Tucson, is about 250 miles. Either one would be an excellent choice. If you flew to Tucson you would be driving to Hannagan Meadow from the south, through Clifton/Morenci. It is a really nice drive as Hwy 191 goes right through a huge open-pit mine, then 30 or so miles of switchbacks going from desert to pine-trees and then to the Lodge. From Phoenix you would get there by going north through Payson, Show Low, Pinetop and Alpine. That is also a really nice drive though not as dramatic. It is about 5 hours from either location. Flagstaff is about the same distance, and it would be a great drive, but the airport is small and there may not be many choices re flights, plus you would have to change planes in Phoenix or Tucson to get to Flagstaff. You can't miss with either Phoenix or Tucson.
