The Beacon offers a sense of levity in a city that often weights itself down. Intimate gathering spaces invite guests to loosen their proverbial ties and let down their hair. People watch in the lively lobby, catch up on international news in the sunken library, kick back with a creative cocktail on the rooftop terrace, or ponder the artwork presented throughout the public spaces. The Beacon brings together brilliant minds and global influences in an approachable setting. The Beacon Bar & Grill offers an eclectic menu of traditional American fare and internationally-influenced dishes prepared with locally sourced produce. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails can be enjoyed in the atrium lounge. Fireside booths in the main dining room make for especially warm memories. SkyBar, a rooftop lounge, offers creative cocktails and light snacks, paired with incredible city views.

Front desk staff and attendants are friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. Housekeeping personnel are very helpful and accommodating. Location is convenient. Mini-Suite rooms are very roomy and the kitchen area with refrigerator and microwave are a plus. If you plan to drive, just know there's no on-site parking, but there are valets at the door to assist and they are very prompt and helpful. There is an additional charge for parking so you should know that before going.

Had stayed here for 2 nights on a personal trip. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable. The wifi worked well. The location of the hotel is great for tourists that want to see the historical landmarks of Washington DC. The White House is within a 10-15 minute walking distance. It’s also only a short walk away to most other main attractions. It’s close to quite a few good restaurants with different cuisines too.

I am HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED with this hotel. I had a reservation booked for this hotel this past weekend and I called to confirm on June 4th. I spoke directly with a person who confirmed that the hotel would be open and that I had a room reserved for Friday-Sunday for 5 people. When I arrived to D.C. Friday evening, I found the hotel to be closed. I double checked my e-mail to confirm that I did not receive a message stating that the hotel would be closed and that my reservation had been cancelled and I had not. I was now stranded in D.C. with nowhere to stay for the weekend. I had specifically booked this room as it could accommodate 5 people in a single room for a reasonable rate. Thankfully I found another hotel nearby that was more than accommodating and appalled when I told them what had happened. I have reached out to the Beacon Hotel to discuss the incident as I strongly believe some sort of compensation should be provided as I had directly spoken with someone a week prior confirming my reservation, but they have yet to respond to me. It is safe to say I will never be booking with this hotel again.

Good afternoon, I want to extend our sincerest apologies for this mishap. The hotel has been closed since the end of March 2020 due to the unfortunate circumstance of the COVID- 19 pandemic. We did not approve any site to sell rooms on behalf of the hotel. I kindly ask you to provide us with the information about the reservation you booked. You can send it to dcontreras@beaconhotelwdc.com so we can further investigate this. We would love to have you come back. Had an amazing weekend at Beacon! The location is incredible, short walk to most main attractions and the area felt very safe. It is also close to lots of restaurants and bars. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room, and hotel overall, were very clean and well-kept. I would highly recommend a stay at the Beacon!

Even though the hotel is advertised as providing WiFi, a gym, and cleaning, they will bill these amenities separately. I called the manager and all he said was that people complain about it a lot. Basically he said go ahead and complain, we're used to it. I did some research on resort fees and basically they are just a scummy way for hotels to make extra money.

I wouldn't recommend staying here simply because of this sneaky way of making money off of their clients.

This is NOT a 3 or 3.5 hotel! Our flight was delayed so we arrived around 1am. We thought the location was great, but were actually surprised upon walking into the tiny dingy looking lobby. The front desk rep was so excited because we had an "upgraded" room on the 8th floor which he described as luxurious. We were tired, but very disappointed once we saw our room. Yes, it included a small kitchenette and living space, but it was truly outdated. The snack area is a joke, a few chips, cookies, and sodas behind the checkin counter on a shelf. So tacky! Anyway, we slept and showered in our "hot" room. Otherwise we couldn't stand to stay in this dingy depressing place. There is also a $28/day resort fee upon checkout. Not worth it!

We recently stayed at the beacon hotel and corporate quarters in Washington DC. This was singularly one of the worst hotel stays in over 30 years of staying in hotels around the world.
The list of issues is expansive, and started before check in.

We booked over three weeks out, and as we were flying in after an overnight flight, we requested an early check in at 1pm. The message that we received said they would do their best to help us out. On arrival, the man behind behind the desk was like the soup guy from Seinfeld and insisted that there were no early check ins and that check in was 3pm. We understand that an early check in is not a right, and it wasn’t that we couldn’t check in, and It wasn’t that he wasn’t polite, he was just outright rude, dismissive and was equally rude to friends who were also staying.
On check in we were also advised that the restaurant is closed, the rooftop bar is closed and there is limited housekeeping due to COVID,.
We were the put into a different room, to that which was booked, it was a standard queen, and was tiny. After clarifying they moved us to a deluxe double double, which was roomier, but was tired and old, with a shower that has water, but no water pressure and an air conditioner that was from the Jurassic era.
Every day the room cards did not work, and resulted in multiple trips to reception to have them reset. Not once, not even once did anyone at reception acknowledge any issue with the room key system, in fact they used all standard hotel excuses about you must have put it near your phone, your credit cards etc etc. the thing is it was soooo widespread and whenever we would be getting a reset there would be a line of people waiting, it was just unacceptable and avoidable. The MOST annoying thing about this wasn’t that it kept happening, it was that the staff didn’t have it in them to ack owledge that it was an issue or to apologize, it was always our fault.
The 2 lifts in the building are tiny, slow and barely functioning.
And finally to checkout, by this point we expected little, and the management didn’t let us down. As we were leaving the next morning at 4am in the morning, I went down the evening before, and requested to finalize my account and gain a receipt, so we could just drop keys and go in the morning. I was told this wasn’t possible as the cost of the final night didn’t click in until midnight, so I requested that the reception representative just process it at midnight and then have a printout that I could collect when I left. The reception representative said that as she was leaving before midnight this couldn’t be done and I would have to call down to have this done before I left. In addition the rate on the invoice was more than that quoted, when I showed the reception representative the emails I had received from the hotel, with the hotels email address, she denied that it had come from the hotel, and insisted it was from a third party booking agent. This was the cherry on the very average cake of disappointment that this stay was.

I can honestly say that I will NEVER stay in this hotel again, and I would strongly advise that you are better to join the homeless lady at the nearby park, rather than put up with rude, incompetent staff, and unacceptable facilities.

There is a fine line between being hospitable and being IN hospitality. This hotel is the latter, as they do not seem to understand the first.
Upon arrival, indeed early, around 10.30AM, we were told that "if the room is ready they will have to charge an early check-in fee." Well, that's a welcome other than the expected "welcome sir, nice to have you here and let me see if I have a room for you.". Don't get me wrong, if you demand an early arrival up front, it is not more than logical to pay for it when they keep the room. But if by chance, the room is ready and you at Frontoffice can spread out the arrivals by starting checking in already, it's weird to have the customer paying for a room that's vacant anyway. This sets the tone for the rest of the experience well.
It even got worse when the clerk told us they charge a facility fee, that was not communicated upon booking nor on our confirmation. At 30usd a night, for some questionable facilities like water and WiFi (funny as advertised free too), is completely ridiculous and shows the bad intentions the hotel has, not to run an honest business but just make maximum to optimise profit. When disputing the charge, I was told that the is "what we do", by the manager. I should have informed myself as it is communicated on their website. When I indicated that it was not when I booked, nor on my confirmation, they indicated that this was my problem and not theirs and I had to take that up with the third party I booked with. I can in some way understand that this is something the booking agent needs to correctly pass on, however just making it the problem of your guest, and charging their card because you have it, is not an appropriate way of doing it. Of course you will get your customers upset.
I feel sad for the employees that work here, and are pushed in these practices by the organisation they work for, waking up each morning and having to face yourself in the mirror might be hard so keep in mind that if they try to scam you this way, it's nothing personal but just the sad practice they are performing for their employer.
Help yourself, don't book this hotel because despite the good location and decent rooms, you can easily spend the 30 bucks extra a night that they will charge you on a really nice property that won't.

We arrived early so we asked where to go for lunch. We were directed to a place only a few blocks away and it was a good choice. We got back around 2 or so and we got our rooms.
The two bedded room was nice
and every thing appeared clean, which is a must have in our books. Then I went into the bathroom….

The toilet seat is 12 1/2 inches high meaning a second grader would think it perfect. I am a 67 yr old woman who does weight lifting and this toilet is 4” lower than a regulation squat. I got into a squat and did a free fall for the 4 inches to the toilet
seat, landing with a thud. I felt like shouting GOAL!

Next, there were 4 k-cups for coffee, 4 fake milk creamers (fmc) and 6 caramel creamers, which should be outlawed. I had a coffee and used 4 fmc.
I asked for more fmcs when we got back from dinner. They only had caramel creamers (see above) so I had to PAY for a pint of milk. Grrr, I did and was polite about it but inside I was not happy at all.

Then I wanted ice. My room is on the second floor and ice is on 1st and 3rd. I went to 3rd but my keycard didn’t work so I couldn’t get off. A gentleman on the elevator used his card so I could get off. I got my ice and boarded the elevator, swiping my card for 2nd
floor. It did not work and I was deposited in the lobby. There I was given a new card and finally arrived at 2nd floor, with ice.

I am now in bed and fearful of my next trip to the toilet but I do have ice.
