No real complaints, the environment was really chill, more like a college dorm. Very open and free. If you're going for a upscale kind of hotel this isn't the stay for you. Really nice, comfortable atmosphere. Street parking not too bad at night, just make sure you have moved your car by 7am.
We loved the atmosphere, the location, the staff, and the amenities at this hotel. Great value for the price! The outdoor deck and pool area are real plus and the common areas on the first floor are very nice. We loved how friendly and attentive the staff were.
I absolutely love taking my International groups to the generator! Their team works very hard to make sure that everything is in order before we arrive, and then make our stay as comfortable as possible when we are already here. Tina is amazing, and consistently assists me with my groups to make my life just a little bit less stressful when traveling. Aicha helps me with my group for breakfast with Tina, and makes everything smooth and easy before we leave for the day. Sarah helped with our reservations for our large group - and everything worked out better than expected! Thank you Generator staff, our programs would not go as easily without your help :)
Went here for a school trip. Living conditions and service were great! Definitely recommend! Lobby area is open and clean, and it is pretty close to all of the Smithsonians and the popular tourists spots.
A step above the usual dorm-room style hotels, The Generator has privacy curtains, lockers below their comfy beds with fluffy comforters, a cafe with outdoor seating, an ample lobby lounge area, and a Mexican Restaurant downstairs. Latroya at the front desk was informative, helpful, and professional. The Generator's Connecticut Ave. location with Dupont Circle proximity means that you have great restaurants and eateries within walking distance. Cabs are always coming and going from this hotspot.
This hotel is in a great location in close proximity to all of what DC has to offer and the city view side has a very nice view of the Washington Monument. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and stylish.
I spent the 2023 Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday at the DC Generator. Overall, it was a good experience. There was a problem with the door for the room where I was originally placed. After several tries, the front desk staff found another room where the door key worked without a problem. I enjoyed the atmosphere at the hotel in general. There were folks from all over the world. It felt a bit like being on a college campus. The hotel is near the DuPont Circle subway station. In the area immediately around the subway station are several shops and restaurants. On the second day of the trip, I enjoyed a farmers' market in the area right outside the subway station. The room was decent-sized. I was pleasantly surprised to see a bathroom that had a bathtub. Bathtubs seem to be a rarity in hotels these days.…
Yes, the hotel was in a convenient location and it was a great value. However, little things, like washcloths and cleanliness matter. As a more seasoned traveler who has a preference for chains like Westin, Omni etc. I realize I took a chance booking a room at the Generator, but I won't take that chance again.
excellent place, very clean and great to go around in the city. There are many restaurants and shops very close by and you can get around easily as well. The staff in the hotel were always very professional and helpful.
Great staff. Comfortable room, Convenient parking. Fitness center could use an upgrade. Of particular concern and disappointment was fact that Peloton spin bike was inoperable. This was significant because I generally choose hotels based upon their having operable Peloton spin bikes in rooms and/or fitness centers.
