The waves gently lap on the beach that is 10 steps from the white wooden cottage with a white picket fence under a bourganvillia (sp?) tree on a little slice of paradise in Connells Bay. So much history in a tiny part of Waiheke at the eastern end. John and Jo are lovely hosts and have thought of everything. If...

If you think you have everything, I suggest you visit Connells Bay, then you will realise there was more to life than possessions! Everywhere you walk, stand and look, there is another impressive view. Add the sculptures, native trees, birds, sea and private beach, and you have a unique experience. Then imagine that this amazing property was created by one...

The cottage is an integral part of this stunning sculpture park which has developed wonderfully in the ten years since we last visited - old and new sculpture works, all now even more beautifully framed by stands of flourishing native trees, home to expansive kereru (native pigeon) and other native bird populations. All the dedicated work of the proprietors John...

This was the most amazing short break. The cottage is magical, sitting on its own private beach with just the waves and birds for company. Beautifully appointed and perfect for a romantic getaway. But the real jewel is the sculpture park, and Jo's personal tour brought it to life. The passion, dedication and creativity is breathtaking. If you're an art...

You are very lucky to have the chance to stay here. Waiheke is a stunning island but the East coast and Connells Bay in particular are dreamy. The cottage very pretty and private- see my pics. The sculpture park and grounds are stunning. Hosts are lovely, helpful and kind. We borrowed the double kayak for a trip to Rotoroa island.

We were told that a 4WD would be required to travel up and down the driveway. Having already booked a modest hire car before deciding to stay at Connells Bay, we were provided a 4WD to use on the property. Now that is amazing hospitality and thoughtfulness. That's how our brief holiday there started and it just continued. The cottage was...

A beautifully restored cottage on a private Island beach to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Paradise. We slipped out of bed and into the ocean each morning and spent our days relaxing on the decks, strolling around the sculpture park or swimming. Superb hospitality. So wonderful that we've already booked for another two weeks at Christmas.

“Not a hotel so doesn't fit a lot of the above criteria It did feel luxurious, it would have been romantic if it was just a couple staying especially in the evening with the fire lit. Location could not be improved upon once you get downthe hill”
