My husband and I along with my elderly mother spent 4 days relaxing and taking in the wonderful views. The accommodation couldn't be faulted. The meals were very tasty and good portion sizes. We really appreciated the attention from the management and staff given to my elderly mother (88 years of age). We didn't take advantage of the bush walks...

Stopped here with friends while riding the Queen Charlotte Track. What a fantastic spot. Beautiful view from our room (we were lucky we had a very sunny day). I agree with other reviewers that they have some way to go to making this a spot to return to. While the staff were welcoming and friendly, they seemed disorganised! We enjoyed...

We stayed here for 2 nights in October 2014. The location is utterly beautiful. The view from the room was fabulous. The staff was extremely helpful both with routine matters and non-routine matters. The menu was somewhat limited, but the food was very good.

Stayed nearby with friends. Came here for a bite and drinks. Extremely limited choice. Beer choice very poor. Food ok and reasonable price. However despite an attempt at a refresh very dated. Living off past glories. But people are much more discerning now. Need to lift game. Also no Wi Fi. What is that about. There are better places

A big effort has been made to improve The Portage. We visited here by boat seeking some shelter in rough weather. It had been closed for improvements and had only been open for 2 days and was obviously still under construction in some areas. Barry was very hospitable and the staff were welcoming and friendly. As the weather didn't improve...

At nearly $300 a night I expect much more. Our room had a stunning view, but everything else was decidedly average. Dated decor, worn carpets, a dark and dingy bathroom, and only two teabags provided (just as well we both like Earl Grey...) We ate from the bar menu for dinner - the fish and chips were really good. The...

We arrived late from the Queen Charlotte Track and a little worst for wear. Stefan, the Manager was gracious enough to keep the kitchen open for us, and we were attended to like we were the most distinguished of guests. The service really was superb and the food was immaculate; resulting in us deciding to book in for a further...

We stayed for two nights at Portage while mountain biking the track. The rooms are in need of a lot of upgrading, the bathroom very small with a dirty shower curtain and very poor lighting. We had paid for a room with a view and looked out at scraggy trees blocking everything. The service was OK but when our rooms...
