After arriving in the port town of Picton somewhat frazzled and without a bed to call our own, we were advised by the loveliest car rental man at omega cars to check in to tombstone backpackers. Whilst at first alarmed by the morbid tendencies displayed by such an outrageous name and front door we were immediately charmed by Gary and...

My friend and I stayed in a three-bed room and shared with a very nice stranger. The kitchen was quite busy at the usual dinner time, but provided everything we needed to cook a meal. LOVED the shower! Grapes were ripe and picked from the canopy outside. So a nice little sweet treat as we walked around the property. OH!...

This was one of the nicest hostels we stayed in New Zealand. It had a lovely room overlooking the harbour, pool tables, a spa and gym equipment. There was also a lovely patio terrace to eat the complimentary breakfast (delicious homemade scones and more) in the morning.

This was our first backpacker experience and one we would repeat. Our first night was in a shared bunkroom and the second night there after our bike ride was in a private room with ensuite. Both were very comfortable, plenty of warm bedding, very clean with everything we needed. Shared kitchen and dining area was a great place to meet...

Our backpacking days have long gone but the suite was excellent - spacious, comfortable, well equipped, very clean and a balcony overlooking the harbour. and as a bonus there were free homebaked scones for breakfast in the communal area if you wanted them! One word of warning - the ordinary double rooms which were in the same new block were...

I called to make a same day reservation, and although the bunk rooms were already booked, Gary offered me a stay in their cozy on-site caravan with Queen size bed. It was very comfortable, and just steps away from the showers, kitchen and main common areas. I love how spacious this hostel is, with plenty of activity rooms for dining,...

Gary & Nikki have a great place in Picton. We stayed in the suite, which is spacious and very well appointed. Our hosts not only baked delicious cheese scones for breakfast but they also helpfully advised and booked trips to the Queen Charlotte Track and a Blenheim wine tour. Thoroughly recommended....

The name is cure, you have to head for the local cimetière to find it... can be a bit hard if you have lot of gear and coming from the Interislander terminal... they offer shuttle but not on each sailing! Facilities are great and the main host realy friendly. WiFi, bikes, whirlpool and breakfast are free of charge, brilliant!
