Welcoming, warm and clean with a eclectic mix of décor. The guests are well catered for, included in the accommodation was dessert and light breakfast, fantastic value. Cats are a added bonus to make it feel more like home.

If you don't like cats, stay away! Bit run down but cosy and friendly. Big living room areas and kitchen is a good size although it had no windows so felt a bit oppressive. Very good location if you have an early start on the queen Charlotte.

Since I could come only really late and I didnt have a booking, I rang them up, and the staff waited for me to come there. Staff is really welcoming and nice, good job guys! For 24$(non member of BBH) i stayed in the big shared room. Since it was already late, I had to keep quiet. The only problem...

I stayed in the 4 person dorm for 23nzd and I even got the whole room to myself one night. Whoo! 20nzd deposit for the key, though. Staff was lovely and friendly, and so were the cats. Other guests were friendly and sociable. The free brekkie was toast with an assortment of jams. There were oats, if you're into that....

What a lovely place.. The hosts are the nicest people I've ever met. Welcoming, friendly, it's like you known them your whole life. You can choose between sleeping in a room with double bed or single, or in a dorm with a lots of beds. Real cozy dorm. I got a Harry Potter feeling of it. You feel like home,...

Okay, so from the outside, this place looks horrid, if we're being honest. But stepping inside you are greeted by the coolest owner and co staff, who are very down to earth and welcoming, then it's on to the lounge, usually where the three legged cat is getting pats by anyone and everyone who walks by. I booked a cheap...

This place is a rambling collection of rooms/dorms with an awesome social atmosphere. In the days of solo time on our smartphones people seem to be more connected here. Maybe it's the atmosphere? Maybe the layout of old lounge sofas in the central area? Maybe the large kitchen with tables? Who knows! However be warned, as a consequence you may...

Comfy bed, cheap as chips, very friendly. Young people from all over the world staying up chatting and playing music. Unfortunately very little soundproofing (unglazed ventilation gaps at top of bedroom walls) and I didn't get to sleep for quite a while. Once I was asleep I got woken by the guy in the next room snoring. Great value for...

Stayed in a double room in the motel / apartment building. Basic but perfectly adequate for a short stat. Great location, literally metres from the beach. Very hot room but comfortable bed and good bathroom (very powerful shower). Free wifi. Free toast & cuppa for breakfast The communal area is a little tired but you get what you pay for....

This place is decorated amazingly and has a cool atmosphere. However, our room was appalling. NO WINDOW. It was stifflyingly hot and right by the kitchen so we were kept up all night. I paid $60. When I told the owner in the morning she was clearly aware of the problems with this room, but offered no compensation. I was...
